3/22/24 Faroukh was our server and the service was impeccable. That's one definite you can be assured of! My mom and dad are tired of being disappointed in service at other restaurants that Capital Grill is their go to place. They know the service never disappoints here.
We started off with the crab and lobster cake and it was spectacular. We tried the roasted beet salad with goat cheese. I would definitely order it again. It had a sweet vinaigrette dressing with roasted beets and two large smears of goat cheese under the greens. This was just wonderful! Since it was Lent I opted for the citrus glazed salmon. It was cooked to perfection! The exterior had a pleasant crisp finish and the salmon was juicy. We got the lobster Mac and cheese and creamed spinach- also 5 stars!!
To finish I ordered the coconut cream pie and a decaf cappuccino! I was delighted to know they had decaf Capp! I usually drink regular but it was 6:30 pm when we wrapped up so I opted for the decaf. The cappuccino is elegant with mountains of steamed milk. Plus a rock candy swizzle stick is included- absolutely a must order if you enjoy cappuccino.
The atmosphere is Americana with portrait art. It is darker and relaxing atmosphere and the pace of dining is not rushed.
Be prepared to spend a boatload of money- but the quality is certainly there. Great for special occasions.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Apr 18, 2021Previous review4/17/21 well my last review said I wouldn't come back but my husband was celebrating his 20 year work anniversary and picked Capital Grille.
This time was much better than before. Our server James was attentive and effervescent. He was excellent, and polite. At these prices everything has to be impeccable and impeccable it was!
We were seated in a semi private room. I was digging the privacy. There was another table of 6 in the same room but it was fine.
Most got cocktails at my table except me- I had sparkling water. The cocktails were elegant and amazing, not just the price but the craftsmanship.
Appetizers -terrific! I highly recommend ordering the lobster and crab cakes the cream sauce that comes with them is amazing too. Chunky lobster and crabmeat. I highly recommend this as an add on to the dinner! We also got our standard calamari and the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella cheese. Oh. My. GOD! That was terrific. Most at my table started off with Lobster Bisque with sherry that they loved! I declined because dessert is my thing.
I got the special-2 ten ounce lobster tails-succulent and delicious but I truly wished I would have ordered the filet Oscar with the mountain of crabmeat, asparagus, and hollandaise. That looked incredible and three at my table ordered it. We ordered up the creamed spinach, Sam's mashed potato's, asparagus w lemon, mushrooms, and the lobster Mac & cheese which was amazing. I enjoyed everything thoroughly as did everyone!!
We finished w desserts, creme brûlée, cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake and some cappuccino rounded it out nicely!
It's extremely expensive but this time they gave us the world!
It was a wonderful celebration. I would love to go again someday.Mar 17, 2018Previous reviewVisited here for restaurant week. Carolina was our server. She was very attentive. I was kind of underwhelmed quite honestly with The Capital Grill this time. They obviously were short portioning for the fixed price at 40$. I ordered the wedge salad, the filet mignon, the preassigned sides were the mashed potatoes and green beans. For dessert the creme brûlée that had a smattering of berries on top. The food was good, but in my opinion not worth 40$ per person.
Unfortunately right nearby was a very obnoxious rude guest. He was loud, demanding, arrogant, pushy and a complete jerk to Carolina. His wife sat on a cake crumb and my God you would think it was the apocalypse. He demanded free items for his meal, he had a very specific drink he wanted that had to be "stirred" and not shaken. When Carolina brought the drinks before she set them down he insisted she take them back and "they weren't made right". He was rude and condescending to his server & server assistant. Also boastful that he "comes here all the time". He completely ruined our meal and I was so flabbergasted by the way the staff was being abused I wrote an email to the Capital Grill so they are aware of the kind of crap these servers had to handle. If this is the kind of clientele this place attracts I won't be back. Snobbish, demanding, condescending and arrogant was what I experienced when I visited.
I regret not going to Fogo de Chao instead for restaurant week. Also for my $ I would have rather gone to Texas Roadhouse for considerably less and a much more relaxed crowd. I don't see going back here. It's a little too "high & mighty" for me. I'm a simple girl w simple tastes who loves quality meals & a value.Mar 27, 2017Previous reviewFirst time at capital grill and my parents got a private room for an intimate family celebration of two of our family members, Tom & John. My mother chose a fixed price menu with a wonderful array of selections.
The room we had was private and beautiful. The tablecloth was decorated with celebratory confetti. My mom had picked up balloons and those were displayed on the table. I liked the fact that we had a large square table so we could see everyone. There were two cards written out for our guests of honor by the restaurant.
The service was most certainly the star of the show. George was our main server and he was knowledgeable and had a winning personality. We learned of his background in ballet, he was a man of the world for sure and was telling us some very entertaining stories that we enjoyed. Alicia served as well, she was friendly and warm. The bus boy, I didn't know his name, was always offering water refills, clearing plates and packing our leftovers.
The bread looked incredible with flatbread, seeded rolls, a dark brown bread. Slabs of butter and sea salt were served on the side. I didn't have any bread but others seemed to enjoy it.
The calamari rings were super tender. They were prepared with peppers. We had the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella cheese and that was served with grape tomatoes. A total delight! The lobster and crab cake minis were 100% lobster and crab. Fan freaking tastic!!!
Salad and entree I chose, the field greens and the salmon. The salad was enormous and I found some rusted lettuce which should not happen at a high level dining place. The salad had blue cheese and multi colored grape tomatoes throughout.
When our food arrived, the doors opened and an entire fleet of servers descended at our table with entrees, side dishes, and sauces. The service here is impeccable! When I even left the table my napkin was re-folded, now that's class!!! The pace of service was spot on too.
I chose the salmon with brown butter & marcona almonds. The server asked how I wanted it prepared which was odd. She recommended medium so I went with that. I found no trace of the browned butter and there was only 1 lonely almond on the plate buried under the green beans and roasted onion that the salmon was atop. The salmon was a bit disappointing because it was dry. I have had much better salmon at the Texas Roadhouse and The Cheesecake Factory. I probably should have ordered a steak because that's what they seem to specialize in. Everyone in my party ordered a steak and from what I could see it was cooked to perfection.
The sides were incredible! Wild mushrooms, green beans and incredible mashed potatoes. Red Bliss with skins in the side, composed with cream and butter. The sides were savory, flavorful and were absolutely amazing in my opinion. The green beans were crisp and fresh.
I neglected to mention I ordered a mineral water. A San pellegrino. It was HUGE!! It was also served in a metal sleeve to keep it cool. I liked that presentation very much.
The dessert my mom chose was the Capital Grill dessert platter. We were brought multiple trays for the table. Included was a beautiful array of creme brûlée cheesecake, creme brûlée, and the flourless espresso cake. All were divinely rich and tasty. Plates adorned with blackberries, strawberries and raspberries.
There is most certainly a marked step up in quality, at these price points. I know that this is a chain so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised.
Would I come back? It's probably not likely. A place like this is out of my league. I don't like being up-charged for sides. I feel if you're spending top dollar you should get a complete meal with a salad and sides. The quality is there but the value is not.
Our leftovers, although packed with care, leaked through the bag and were a greasy mess when we got home. I would recommend maybe a zipper style plastic bag in the box? Also you couldn't tell what was what because the containers were black- you couldn't differentiate between the leftovers. For most maybe not an issue but we came home with 6 boxes of leftovers.
George, our server, made our celebration dinner the utmost success. I don't think it would be easy to serve in this atmosphere. I feel like the clientele would be on the rich snobby side. George, Alicia and the whole Capital Grill team were phenomenal! Kudos!! - 43499Mar 5, 2024
Food is always prepared very well. They listen to what you want and they don't deviate from it. The shrimp and oysters were served on a big bed of ice on a lazy Susan. The Caesar salad served on a cold dish. Our friend asked for heat hot soup which he got. My salmon was done exactly the way I asked for it. All in all everything was done to perfection. Ambiance is the same in all the Capital Grills. Beautiful wood decor on the walls, and Tiffany ceiling lights. A large beautiful bar with all liquors. Bathrooms very clean and fresh flowers to keep the beauty. Love going there. It is a treat as it can be a bit pricey. But for a special treat or occasion well worth it

Food and service were unbeatable! So friendly and kind. They have lots of great options! Parking is free and lots of space. Had my anniversary here and I recommend everyone to have it here. All night everyone was saying "aw happy anniversary" made our night. Only thing to be prepared for is spending a lot, but it's totally worth it :)

Dinner was amazing and service was great! We ordered the Steak Oscar. The steak...and the crab meat on top was delicious. For an appetizer we had the Calamari. I enjoyed it. Desert was the flourless Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Yum. Everything was fabulous

My husband and I had a couple gift cards for this place and wanted to give it a try. We usually frequent Eddie V's so we figured it'd be just as good....
Our experience. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. She was very helpful and attentive. Our glasses were never empty. So an A+ in service!!
As far as food:
For appetizer we chose the Pan-Fried Calamari
With Hot Cherry Peppers. The flavor it was absolutely on point however I am not sure if it was because I just opened but the oil didn't seem hot enough to cook these things. What we got was greasy instead of crispy. We still ate them and enjoyed the flavor. Pretty top-notch restaurant they should've been pretty easy to mail.
Our next courses were salad. My husband order the Cesar and I the Goat Cheese, Mixed Berries, Toasted Almonds with Citrus Vinaigrette salad. We enjoyed both of these salads!
Now let's move onto the entrées. My husband had the salmon and I ordered the Seabass. My Seabass was spectacular except for the fact that it was drowning in butter. Everything on my plate was coated in butter which I personally feel takes away from the flavor. I moved everything from my plate to a side dish in hopes to drain some of the butter off. Seabass already has a buttery taste it did not need this much butter on it.
My husband salmon was overcooked and dry. He was very disappointed. It looks like it was butterflied then pan grilled. Outside had a nice char but inside was completely dry.
Our side dishes or a truffle fries and lobster mac & cheese. Truffle fries were so good and crispy! Just how they should be. The lobster mac & cheese was a joke. The lobster on top was like rubber (you can see how dried out it is in the pictures) and the pasta was crunchy but didn't really have any flavor. It's like they put pasta in a little pan, covered it in breadcrumbs, put the lobster on top, and poured some heavy cream in it. All the sauce was on the bottom and was extremely runny. In my opinion, the lobster should be put on top at the end of cooking so that it's not rubbery and dried out. Lobster cooked like this tastes like it's from red lobster. We expected much better from The Capital Grille.
Our favorite was the dessert. The coconut cream pie was so dang good! we did remove some of the whip cream but was underneath was so delicious. The crust was the perfect consistency and chewiness.
To sum it up, our first impressions were not the best.. Our bill for just two people was over $300 dollars including tip- we should've walked away happy.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Linda S.King of Prussia, PA130Feb 1, 2024

The Capital Grille always has amazing dishes and service is always on point! The atmosphere is elegant. Ira was and excellent bar tender and Frank took excellent care of us in the dining room. We had a filet Oscar style as a rib eye. The steaks were cooked perfectly (medium rare) and the sides were delicious (mashed potatoes and creamed spinach). Crème brûlée for dessert is large enough to share and fished the meal along with frothy cappuccinos. Always a great meal here!
