What little gem, not much to look at, but good and service good, at prices you can't beat.
Not many breakfast selections in this area, glad we stumbled upon it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Zebrafish O.Waltham, MA0257Apr 24, 2024
This is approximately my 10th time going to this restaurant. Each time there has been several things wrong: food, and service. The service has always been terrible. I go solo after a doctor appointment as a treat but no more.
This time, a new manager named Aaron asked to pick up my check as I was chewing. There should be a law against doing so and swallowing that last potentially delicious morsel quickly to answer the dingbat's question. The waitress could not understand that when I said no ice, I meant no ice in water. She did not ask me about anchovies on my Caesar salad. What is a Caesar salad without anchovies? The salad itself did not have the wonderful croutons of prior salads. The 8 oz fillet mignon was over seasoned and I was barely able to get down the bites. The manager said "next time tell the waitress not to over season." There won't be a next time. Believe me. For a $60 solo lunch I can do better.
Prices are up at restaurants but delivery is awful!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Monica R.MA, MA017Apr 17, 2024
Excellent excellent service. Lovely meat plates. The pasta we ordered for the younger members of the group came cold both times unfortunately. The wine recommendations were great. We would definitely go again.

Underwhelming and slow meal tonight at the bar. Tuna tartar had zero flavor. I worried that I had covid for a second it was so tasteless. This location seems to be hit or miss. And can never keep up with the crowd despite being a 1/4 the size of every other CG location.

Everyone looks clean, sharp and moves just as so with prompt attention to every drink, empty plate. Food is delicious, bar is fun, busy.
Looking forward to the Dedham location opening. - Jul 16, 2023
Shaun (sp?) was our waiter, and was one of the best I've had in many years.
I told Shaun that I wanted a juicy steak with plenty of flavor. I wanted it cooked so that the middle third was red and the outer two thirds were pink.
Shaun ordered me a Bone-In Ribeye. It was cooked to perfection and was one of the tenderest steaks I have ever had. However, it was not very flavorful. Maybe it just needed more seasoning.
The Lump Crab Cocktail was a dissapointment. The portion was large, but the crab had little taste and the mustard sauce just didn't have any zing to it. Overall, it just didn't come close to the crab I get in Southern Florida.
I took a bite of my wife's Veal Chop. The sauce was wonderful, but the meat itself was not impressive.
We ordered an order of Roasted Wild Mushrooms, which I found to have very little taste, and my wife thought were gritty.
I enjoyed the Cheese Cake dessert quite a bit. Good proportions of cheese, cake, whipped cream, and strawberries. We were not impressed with the Chocolate Cake.
The room was quiet enough to carry on a conversation without shouting.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jay M.Boston, MA454041854Dec 9, 2023Updated review
Excellent meal and always is at the Capital Grill at Chestnut hill. The bar tenders always on point and excellent for anytime I visited. The cream spinach, potato au gratin 1/2 sides just enough of each. The steaks always cooked as ordered... what more may I say...

Allowed sharing 1/2 of 2 sides for one person vs ordering 2 full sides. I go there for a quality meal cooked perfectly. I'll be back as Arnold would say. Cotton Candy beers from mighty squirrel brewery in waltham was nice selection.

I had a great experience at the Capital Grille. I came here on a Monday afternoon as a party of 3 and was seated right away. I ordered the filet minion entree and had mashed potatoes for my side. I got the steak cooked well done, and while it was a bit dry, it still had a great flavor and the top was seared/seasoned well. The mashed potatoes were amazing! My buddy got the sliders, which looked incredible with a side of truffle fries. I desperately want to know who supplies Capital's potatoes and/or who is behind the counter, because those were the best fries I've ever had in my entire life. I'm still thinking about them. Good job TCG! I'll be back!

Our first time back since before COVID, and it was as good as we remembered! The service was amazing, as always - they perfectly balance being professional, attentive, and knowledgeable while also being friendly and welcoming. The location has a unique, cozy charm that newer restaurants often lack.
Our steaks were amazing, tried the porcini ribeye - just wow! We were sad to hear Jeff left, he was a great guy,but we met the new GM Chris, he was very gracious and accommodating of my wife's dietary issues.
A dinner here is definitely not cheap, but it is always an experience to remember. I hope this place continues to be busy for years to come.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - caesar s.Boston, MA716941Jan 19, 2024

Came here last week for lunch & Ms Denise was our server & she was amazing. She was very attentive and genuinely wanted to ensure we enjoyed everything about our experience here. She even served us our appetizers on sharing plates.
We ordered boneless ribeye and a bone in New York strip both were cooked almost to perfection.
The lobster Mac was very dry & had two pieces of lobster thrown on top, ms Denise did make sure they made it over for us.
The calamari was good and fresh
The mashed potatoes are always very good
I swear by the lobster and crab cakes as you can tell
The plate with the butter has dirty when it was served to me so I did remove a star for that because they should know better before serving it.
I come to this location fairly often and never had service like this. Actually I've had some quite terrible experiences. Including a server adding a $260 tip on my receipt after I had given him $260 in cash and management never even followed up with n regarding it.
I would definitely come back if mama Denise is working & wish Phuong never took $520 from me fraudulentlyHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 26, 2022Previous reviewWent back here on Thursday for my boyfriends 35th birthday and had Phoung as my server, and he did as well as he could.
I had a dinner of 7 that I reserved and when we arrived we were seated at a circular table in the corner of the restaurant where we could barely get to the other seats. If anyone had to use the restroom we would all have to get up. So eventually I ended up requesting another table, especially because two more were looking to join us. I felt like I felt before as to why were were seated there, when there were so many bigger open tables.
The calamari we ordered two of came out completely soggy, and oily.
The appetizers took almost an hour to come out. Our reservation was at 830 pm and we did not get our food until past 10pm although we all ordered right after we put appetizers in. There was so communication about what the delay was, especially when by the time we arrived everyone was leaving.
Our steaks were over cooked or under cooked all around the table & seemed as if they forgot the steak seasoning by rushing the orders
The lobster Mac was amazing as usual.
The lobster and crab cakes were good but not hot
My sister ordered the lamb and it was completely under cooked, she opted to take it home and cook it further.
Ordered plenty of 1942 shots which increased the bill tremendously but it helped us get through just sitting and waiting for our food and drinks.
3 times we ordered things and they did not come out.
My sisters Caesar's salad came out after the appetizers finally arrived and after I had to go to the kitchen to ask about it.
I had to ask another server for multiple things that should've been provided, silverware, Parmesan cheese, water.
Everything was just slow moving & when everything came it just felt rushed. I'm beginning to think I am going to switch locations because I don't have this experience at any other Capital grill. Maybe I'm just not wanted here
(Ps they gave me a gift card to use and I couldn't use it on this check for some reason so that was a bummer but I'm sure they're happy with the $1300 that was spent on Mediocre food and service)Jul 1, 2022Previous reviewI came here for my birthday with my sister yesterday. We were provided the lunch menu and I did not see the lobster & crab cakes so Amy provided me with the dinner menu for additional appetizer options. I ordered the boneless ribeye with mashed potatoes and lobster Mac. My sister ordered the filet with mashed potatoes. The food eventually came out & I received a large bone in rib-eye and no mashed potatoes. I inquired on this from Amy and she told me I ordered a bone in rib-eye, although I even pointed to the lunch menu option when ordering. She asked if I wanted to change it & I told her I would just pay for it because I was on a time constraint and hungry. She proceeded to loudly tell me that I can keep that steak & she won't charge me even though it's a better cut of steak. & that I'm "making out". I frequent capital grille often so I'm aware of the menu & cuts of steak. I felt like she assumed because I am African American that I was trying to get over and ignorant to fine dining. Nonetheless the food was good but I left feeling belittled and uneasy.
Lobster Mac was taste wise as good as usual but a little runny.
The lobster and crab cakes were smaller and tad burnt but still taste was great, but disappointing.
Caesar salad was amazing.
Flourless chocolate cake was VERY rich but my sister enjoyed it.
Mashed potatoes are great even for them just being mashed potatoes.
The steak was great although under cooked, and not what I ordered.
I will definitely be back but wouldn't want Amy as my server because of that awkward encounter for my birthday.
