TBN is as close to unreadable as a local newspaper can get. To call this a "news" paper is a stretch. Sadly, it's the only game in town. Nearly the entirety of Section A is composed of reprinted articles from the Politically far-Left NY Times and Washington Post. The same sort of thing goes on in the Editorial Section, where the vast majority of syndicated opinion pieces take liberal and progressive points of view. Even the local cultural and arts writers feel comfortable mixing their left-leaning feelings into their articles. I'm a Democrat, like most Buffalonians, and I understand that most Democrats are liberal. And I understand the concept of not biting the hand that feeds you. But come on TBN, can we please have a more balanced view?

I paid the reduced rate a one year digital subscription a year ago in order to gain access to four specific articles. After emailing to cancel the subscription, I got an email today that the DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION billed me for $160, even though I unsubscribed months ago. I never received any communication that 1) I was about to be billed, or that 2) the rate increased more than 8x. Accessing the account has been troublesome since the beginning. I cannot recommend enough that you do not give any money to this paper with extremely shady subscription and business practices.

Had to cancel the Buffalo News yesterday, had gotten the paper for 40 years.Paper keeps getting smaller, and last price increase was ridiculous, added 50 cents a day. Over 1000.00 a year for subscription. Only sad thing is we had a excellent delivery person, gonna miss him.

I signed up for the '$1 for 6 months' deal, and set a reminder in my phone to cancel my subscription a week before the deal ended so that I wouldn't forget to cancel it.

Cue one week before my subscription was over: I logged into the site and tried to cancel my membership, but there was no one-click option to do so. I tried removing my payment method - not allowed. I found the 'cancel your subscription' instructions and emailed the address shown requesting to cancel my subscription. I told them why I was cancelling (their site is severely ad-ridden and they frequently publish the same stories for several days). I even included my account number and on what date the subscription was due for auto-renewal to make it simple for them. At the end of my email, I added: 'I will be screen-shotting this email as proof for my credit card company that I cancelled a full week before the renewal date so that I can dispute the charge if you fail to cancel my subscription.'

Five days later I got a canned auto-response from The Buffalo News about how they receive a large number of emails and they'll need some time to get back to me. No mention of cancelling my subscription on their part. Two days later - BAM - there was a $29.99 charge on my credit card for a digital subscription. I emailed them again, and again, and again and they would not refund me. They responded with 'we received your vacation hold request' which is ridiculous for a DIGITAL subscription. They asked why I was cancelling (even though I had told them in my original email why I was cancelling) and they still did not refund me.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and THAT seemed to get their attention. They finally refunded me today, a full month after telling them to cancel and to not charge me in the first place.

I think I will buy a $5 gift card for myself, create five different email addresses, and use that card to purchase their current '$1 for 3 months' offer. Then after 3 months they won't be able to charge the card because it'll be out of funds. Then they'll know how I feel.

      On January 5, 2022 I paid I $312
For a 12 month subscription to the Buffalo news Sunday paper only. This subscription had an end date of January 15, 2023.

The Buffalo news mailed me a "second notice" (I never received a 1st notice)on September 25, 2022 for a 12 month Sunday only paper subscription ending September 24, 2023 for $442 , we decided an increase of $130 for 52 papers was too steep.

On October 31, 2022 we received a "final notice" for the subscription. According to my records our paper was paid until January 15, 2023. We ignored this and opted to wait and just let our subscription run out.

In November 2022 we received a phone call from a collection agency. I explained to this collection agent that we paid our subscription and our paper was paid up until January 15, 2023. He was very rude and hung up on me.

I then called the Buffalo news at this time. I explained that my what my paperwork indicated. I was assured that I would get the next two months of papers that I paid for and I would then like our subscription canceled.

We didn't receive a Sunday paper on January 8, 2023 or January 15, 2023. We thought we were done with the paper.

Now we have received papers on January 22, January 29, February 5 and February 19.
On February 18, 2023 we received a letter from a collection agency (based in Ohio) stating that we owe $107.66 as of December 25, 2022.

I called the Buffalo news on February 21, 2023 to confirm that my subscription was canceled as I requested back in November. After waiting on hold for 45 minutes they disconnected my call. I called back and after repeating that I wanted to speak to the billing department three times the automated system didn't seem to understand. I tried a different option at this point. I said "vacation hold" which was recognized. I was told that they couldn't find my account. I was put on hold again to wait for an agent. I now know that my subscription was most likely canceled because they couldn't find my account. I have received 4 Sunday papers that I didn't ask for or want. I have been put on hold for another 45 minutes and now and have opted for a callback.

I attempted to log into our account and had to request a new password. Note: We had attempted to use the digital newspaper that we were entitled to but that never worked properly. After logging into our account it was showing that we owed $107.66 and our account was expired.
I attempted to contact the Buffalo News with the contact email link provided. That doesn't seem to work.

its worse than not good, how about atrocious! Let's start first with the business that they are in.....the printing business. Well how come the print BLEEDS from one page to another, making some articles and puzzles unreadable. I guess its because of the cheap quality of paper you use. And I'm not a printer! The cheap paper also makes the corners of each page 'curl up'. Now let's talk about not being able to speak with a Human or having a customer service person at your Buffalo office. I have tried multiple times almost daily for the past week to complain only to have 2 people from the Phillipines tell me that I will receive credit documentation via my email. No such email exists. Its shameful and embarrassing that you call yourself a NewsPAPER

Since the content of the Buffalo News has decreased and the price has increased we wanted to cancel our 7 day delivery to Sunday, only . I received a response indicating a Sunday- only delivery would cost $ 56.33/month while 7 day delivery would cost $ 36.83. That would be like spending $4.00/ dozen eggs, but one would cost $ 6.72, a 68% increase. We are canceling our entire subscription. 'All the news that's fit to print' one or two days after it has happened isn't worth that price.

After many years of a daily delivery subscription, it got too expensive for me last year and I switched to just Thursday-Sunday plus digital. Lately I cannot even access the digital content through links in the emails I receive, no matter how many times I reset my password or logout/back in as they advise. In addition, I received a bill for $935.99 for Thursday-Sunday delivery for the upcoming year, a large increase from the promotional rate I negotiated last year. This seems ridiculous to me. How can anyone of average to low income afford that? Will newspapers just be for the wealthy? I tried to call to negotiate a lower rate. After being on hold for 46 minutes, my call was disconnected. I called back and after a while was able to select having them call me back. About two hours later, my phone said I had a call from Dubuque, Iowa of all places and I almost did not answer. It was a customer service rep from the News. The best deal they could offer was $17/week = $884/year or digital for $13/week. Still too much, especially when I can get digital news for free from many other sources and I'm currently getting the NY Times for $4/month. I canceled. Such a shame, since everyone needs to read in-depth news coverage from a reputable source. I much prefer a print newspaper, but this is not worth the aggravation or expense. There isn't much original news printed anyway, other than an on-going story about a decades long cold case murder involving a likely cover up by the Catholic church that is being presented over the course of several day as more of an entertainment feature than real news. I will miss the Refresh and Gusto sections more than anything else!

Truly the worst customer service I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They just want to steal your money. When you call to ask a question or cancel your subscription the wait time on the phone is as long as 40 minutes. Not worth it.

The Buffalo news has gone downhill the last 6 months. Delivery is often late, it's thinner than the town paper, and the price has gone up. They are lucky they are the only paper in town.... Too bad the currier express is gone
