The perfect date night.
Started out with extra friendly staff making sure we were comfortable while waiting for our reservations. Shortly after we were greeted, got a bottle of wine for the table and looked over the menu.
The toast with pork fat was to die for. Following that for our entree, my husband got the meatballs and I got the chicken special for that day. Both very delightful, I left wanting to try it all. To top it off the service is outstanding and threw in a few extras such as some cheese puffs and ending dinner with some ginger ice cream.
Will definitely be coming back! - 1391401302/26/2020
This is as chic and modern as it gets in MSP!
This spot can be great for a date night or a fun night with friends , the ambience and venue is quite versatile .
The seating is casual but the vibe is a bit dressy , the island bar to the left is an interesting spot for socializing with funk-art plastered all over whereas the restaurant area on the right is a bit more serious still bubbly enough !
I was told there is a 20 min wait to get a table so I dropped my name in the wait list and we proceeded to the bar . we ordered a couple of cocktails. They have a great collection of spirits and the bartender seemed very educated about the bourbons .
I didn't realize that it had already been 35 min and me and my buddy were about to finish up our drinks , the hostess wasn't even looking for us . I went up to her booth and she wasn't around , and after about 5 min of standing there she shows up and it was clear she had forgotten to look for me and find me a table. Lucky for her though that it was 9.00 pm and the place was beginning to wind down, long story short we got a spot .
We ordered two entrees as we didn't have enough patience left for appetizers .
The staff who took our orders was great, she was polite and very patient with our questions about their menu. She brought us our drinks rather swiftly and stopped by frequently enough to make up for the wait . Her service sort of made us not regret our decision to be here  . I would have given this place a 5 but then it would be unfair to the other really worthy spots in town that go the extra mile in terms of service . - 1612223710/24/2019
I took a group of 17 for dinner here, and hands down all agreed it was excellent! We were upstairs in the Afghan Room, and it was a fun vibe despite being private. Downstairs was hopping, especially for a Wednesday night.
Cocktails and beers were excellent (there's that term again) - and the wine selection was extensive though I am less versed in that regard.
Menu selections were from the private dining menu; everything is locally sourced, so I understand it changes frequently. We had a gougeres and a bibb lettuce salad served family style for our first course. The main course (also family style) was roasted chicken, fish and steak. Individual apple cakes with cinnamon whipped cream for dessert.
Everything was cooked to perfection, and there was more than enough food for everyone at the table. - 3592314413/16/2020
Obsessed with the inside of this place. It is beautiful, clean, calm and inviting.
Paul our bartender was one of the best I have had in a while!
They accommodate any GF needs, great mocktail menu and amazing food selections.
I would highly recommend for a date night! - 1681055771/14/2021
Only went to the Bachelor Farmer once because they closed before I could get back. Ordered the Brussels sprouts and ham and sat at the bar. Decided to let the bartender chose my drinks and was extremely pleased with the range of cocktails they have! Food was delicious- Brussels sprouts were my favorite due to the savory flavor. Sad to see this North Loop staple close.

The Good:
Enjoyed the cozy atmosphere
Excellent service
Loved the small touches like the ginger cookies and candied beets
Love the farm to table concept
Creative, interesting dishes that were so tasty!
The Bad:
You must mortgage your house to pay for dinner
Portions are a bit small
You must valet unless you want to walk a while - 2032687697/2/2019
First, be prepared to wait. It takes a long time to order and receive your food. However, it's a very nice atmosphere and the servers are complimentary (yes, we received a free appetizer compliment of the chef).
Second, the food was elegant and delicious. Portions were small, but that's semi-expected in a fine dining-like experience such as this.
The absolute highlight was the beet salad. Oh. my. It was incredible. There were only 3 (half) beets, but they were laying in a cocoa puree that was delightful. Seem like an odd combination? I thought so too, however, the chocolate was light and secondary to the beet. This place has a rotating menu so you'll likely not be able to order it, but the creativity of this dish proves the chef's ability to forego conventional food pairings. - 2892028147/15/2019
I tried this place for the first time & it was worth it !
Perfect place for a date & have amazing food. I ordered the lamb which was delicious & trues the pork special. Our server gave us advice on the wine to pair the food & it was beyond delicious.
I also tried their toast with pork fat & a cream that was like nothing I've ever had. The dessert was just the right amount of sweet. Picking the rhubarb pie that came along with vanilla custard was the perfect choice.
I can't wait to come here again! The service was amazing & they offer two delicious cookies plus a surprise at the end. - 2522411443/14/2019
The food was tasty, but it didn't blow me away. Between the four of us we had the baby carrots, fresh cow's milk cheese toast, popovers, the pork meatballs (Red Wattle pork) and the duck breast. The carrots were delicious, and so was the toast. But, I wouldn't order the toast again because I personally don't think it's worth the $20. We also all had a couple cocktails, and they were tasty. I can only remember that one was called Last Words. It was a lime drink and was delicious. When you are getting ready to leave for the night, you receive a cute little bundle of ginger snap cookies. I thought that was an adorable touch!
This place is definitely somewhere you can bring out-of-towners because the menu focuses on nordic fare. - 3121190397112/8/2019
We had a most lovely dinner here the other night for no particular reason except one of us finally said we needed to get our butts over here and check it out finally. It did not disappoint and it definitely lived up to the hype.
So yeah - it's a fine dining place with all the froo froo stuff that comes with it. Fancy stuff on the menu and perfectly curated plates. I always feel like a bit of a snob when I eat at places like this. But then again, I love eating at places like this! Service was pretty flawless all the way through.
So food.... this is a place that apparently changes its menu weekly, which means that all the delicious dishes I describe won't be available when you go. But I guess that's part of the sport here. I agree that some things are a bit hit or miss but I love adventurous menus and they are by far more hit than miss. Specifically...
-We got a couple of the mocktails and I got the Fitzgerald cocktail, which was lovely.
-We ordered the charcuterie platter (I can't remember the name), and had a wonderful time destroying it. There were about 10 different things on it, from carefully cured and sliced meats, to two types of absolutely stellar pate, two types of mustard and all kinds of pickled things. It was served with beautifully griddled or grilled toast and was totally yummy.
-For dinner, I ordered the pheasant, which came to the table sitting on a bed of cracked polenta and with a demiglaze sauce from Heaven. I almost licked my plate.
-My husband ordered the walleye, which was also good. But he was super jelly. I let him have a few bites when I started getting full lol.
-We also got the wild rice side to share, which was really good and a lovely preparation of wild rice.
-For dessert, butterscotch pudding (decent) and the vanilla honey sundae (better).
-I also loved that this is a surprise and delight type of establishment. In addition to all the delicious items above, we were treated to a small amuse bouche portion of homemade potato chips at the start of our meal, a cheese-stuffed creme puff between courses and little bags of homemade (and really good) gingersnaps to take home. All were great little surprises and delicious. It's a pricey dinner, but it was a very lovely meal.
