It is an UNEQUIVOCAL RAG.
The bias in this RAG is PALPABLE, unacceptable, unsettling, off putting, and unbecoming for the fifth largest city in the United States. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Shame on The Arizona Republic, USA Today, Gannett, New Media Investment Group, Gate House Media, and Greg Burton. How to run a formerly fine newspaper into the ground...they've perfected it.
The news "writers" are no longer journalists but INFLUENCERS who don't know what proper, good journalist style is or just don't care about it. Facts are almost nonexistent...who, what, why, when, where, and how are no longer relevant. Pushing an ideologic agenda is the new journalistic norm. No one edits the articles anymore, bad form, punctuation, and grammar. A computer spell check is not enough...eyes on with a blue pencil! I'm not even going to get into the headlines! Are the new, young journalists from liberal/progressive schools...seems like?
Entertainment and Sports writers do not qualify as opinion writers. Let them stick to what they know about their area of expertise...and not what they "think" or "feel."
Censorship...no more letters to the editor except for on Sunday and four of the five letters are unabashedly pro-progressive.
Customer Service...has gone by way of Sandusky and that's an insult to Sandusky. BLECH! Trying to converse with someone in the Philippines is like pulling hair from a Mexican hairless dog, a Xoloitzcuintli for you dog lovers! Totally useless. Their English is only a tad better than my Tagalog.
The App...is non-intuitive and so muti-layered that it becomes an effort to achieve anything on it. If this RAG is interested in improving its app, see the WSJ app...intuitive, easy, functions.
I could go on but why...add to my frustration level. Just be fair and even-handed. Is that too much to ask?
Last thing...no really...my delivery people are the GREATEST!!! And deserve a lot of credit for getting up so early in the morning to deliver...wait for it...a RAG!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kathy Holden P.Phoenix, AZ23220Nov 7, 2024
If anyone has tried to talk with a customer service rep about a billing problem you are no doubt still frustrated. We could not speak with anyone that speaks clear English. We could not resolve our issue of being charged twice. The reason? There was no one we could understand. Unbelievable that there is not a person in the States we could talk to.

As of today not only did I not receive a refund, but I'm now getting a bill for a paper I'm not subscribed to and don't receive.

Their "Customer Service" (by-the-way alls prompts go to the same place.) tells me they are going to submit it or it has been submitted or some such nonsense, HOWEVER in fine print on their website it says that they don't have to refund money. Do NOT use a credit card or have it taken from your account, because you won't get it back if you try to cancel.
Jul 31, 2024Previous reviewThey have the worst customer service. I cancelled my subscription because there just wasn't much to the paper and it seemed to have a political bias.
I have called many times to try and get my refund. Fortunately, I paid by check. (DO NOT GIVE THEM A CREDIT CARD!) Anyway, it's been 45 days since I quit and when I call, they continue to say, "it's being processed." - Jim S.Paradise Valley Village, Phoenix, AZ060Aug 7, 2024
We just received notice that our digital subscription for the AZ republic was being doubled from 11.98 to 21.60......this is without home delivery. Plus they billed 2 months in advance........we only got the paper for the living section and occasionally the business into. The regular news is terrible and slanted.......anyway, I see this paper being non existent within the next couple years.......be wary of large price increases and a product that is subpar at best

My newpaper delivery has been pitiful. All the AZ Republic will do is credit my account. I'd be fired for so much incompetence.

My husband is a subscriber to the AZ Republic Newspaper for 40+ years.
The paper offers a service called a "Temporary Hold" while you are out of town.
We use the "Hold" while we are on vacation. BUT IT HAS NEVER WORKED.
We come back to find ALL (or most) of the newspapers laying in our driveway.
What a great way to advertise to burglars/squatters/kids etc. that we are not at home.
They do credit our account, but a break-in would cost more than the $3 credit.
Why offer a service that you are unable to perform?
Is there no way to contact the delivery driver?
What is your liability if the house is broken into???
Perhaps a high school student could write you a computer program to solve this issue for your subscribers.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mike E.Apple Valley, CA584849Jan 29, 2024
I subscribed to get the daily newspaper delivered for my dad.
After 3 months and several calls to customer service, we have yet to receive any newspapers.
Each time I contacted customer service, I was told they were going to contact the regional manager and get it sorted out.
One time, they said they were going to get a different delivery courier.
Still.... No newspapers.
So, I'm off to call them
AGAIN and officially cancel my subscription and ask for a full refund for anything that's been charged to my CC.
Very disappointing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marlee S.Chandler, AZ030Jan 19, 2024
Try cancelling a subscription. A nightmare!. They want all your information even credit card when they already have it and then force you to listen to long advertisements. Foreign accent and very pushy. Would not answer my question whether it was cancelled or not. 20 minutes on phone so hung up.

I noticed several months ago that the Arizonz Republic was charging my credit card monthly for a online subscription that I had no knowledge of subscribing. I contacted the paper and requested a refund of unearned fees in the proceeding months and a immediate cancellation of any future charges. I was amicably treated and was left with the impression all was taken care of and a refund would be processed. Upon checking for subsequent chcharges, I determined fees were still being charged to my card. I phoned again and went through the hoops to fix this and was assured that it was indeed canceled and again told a request for refund would be processed. No refund was ever processed and upon calling to find out why, I was informed that my request for refund of unearned fees was not approved and that was the end of the issue.
I am not happy and will never have anything to do with the AZ Republic again. I suggest you be careful about keeping a credit card on file that becomes subject to unauthorized use. I have learned my lesson...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
