Tasty Treat

This is the place to get ice cream in the Lake City area. I was told that it's always busy and there's often a line out the door. However, I was able to just stroll into Tasty Treat and place my order. Obviously, the universe wanted me to have ice cream that day. When I left, though, a line was forming! So, your line-waiting experience might vary.

I had ice-cream-loving people with me, so we got a few different things. We got a scoop of Superman ice cream on a sugar cone (a kid favorite), an Oreo flurry, a swirl soft serve cone, and a frozen lemonade. I'm not a big ice cream person, so the frozen lemonade was mine. It was OK, but tasted like Minute Maid lemonade. Everyone else loved what they got, though.

There is zero seating indoors, but there are lots of picnic benches outside, located under a canopy. There's also a cute height chart outside to evaluate how many scoops of ice cream tall you are.

Line is 45 minutes, then you get inside and there's more flys than a barn buzzing around your head. If you look in the kitchen there is food all over the floor and tables, and every side dish is opened at all times. Seems to only be one person taking orders at all times. Not worth the wait. 2.5 stars Someone get a health inspector! Real talk!!!

I LOVE Tasty Treat! Fast service and friendly atmosphere. More seating would be nice but I understand the space issue.

We visited a couple days ago and were not disappointed. Now I know why the line was out the door and down the street. The serving sizes are huge and it is well worth the wait.

Best ice cream around. Huge quantities for the size you order. We love our hometown ice cream shop!

Cute little ice cream shop right in the middle of downtown Lake City. But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that they have a decent sized food menu as well. Your fried favorites can be found here.

An array of dessert treats await you upon entering. Tasty Treat offers very generous sizes to quence your sweet tooth. They even tout themselves as having the largest cones in the North!

In our visit we got a Boston Cooler and a cake batter flurry. Both were more than satisfactory. We are just visitors to Lake City but we can certainly see how those who call this town home have made tasty treat a family tradition.

Next time I'm here, I've got my eye on that Dirty Turtle sundae!

Best ice cream place in the north. Humongous cones. Good burgers and fries. Nightlight of downtown Lake City!!!

"Largest Cone in the North" is their mantra. There is almost always a line, so you know it is great. We used to come to the Tasty Treat when we were kids 50 years ago. Great then. Great Now. You know they are good when Dairy Queen couldn't compete with this local favorite. When you are in Lake City, MI, you have to go to the Tasty Treat.
