Tasty Taco Box

I love tacos and I love boba so I could not wait to try Tasty Taco Box. We headed here after an afternoon in the park and tried to order online so we could pick up since we had our dog with us. After we put in the order, we decided that there must be a bunch of hidden charges or extra fees to order online, because we don't typically pay almost $50 for a lunch for two, so we decided to order inside. We got two drinks and two lunches put the final price was still the same. I thought that was really expensive but I was hopeful because of all the great reviews on Yelp.
My husband ordered a "Triple Box" of three tacos: Birria ($4.75) Tri-tip ($5.25) & Shrimp ($5.25) and I had a "Taco Box" with a chicken taco ($4.75) birria taco ($4.75) and rice ($2) & beans ($2). We also ordered two drinks from "Chameleon Boba". A classic milk tea and a strawberry matcha, which were $6.50 each.
I could not find a separate yelp listing for Chameleon Boba but if I could, I would be leaving a 5 star review. The drinks were both tasty and well done and prices are commensurate with the market. We get boba 2-3 times a week from different places and it's typically $5.75 - $7 depending on where you go. I was super happy with both drinks and would come back for the drink options.
However, we also get tacos probably 2-3 times a week or more as well. The taco here are fine. They are ok but they are really nothing special. My husband actually did not like his seafood taco because he said there was so much mango salsa that he couldn't even taste the protein. The beans and rice were super bland and the birria was passable, but again, it was just a super boring and disappointing meal. That being said, the prices are also incredibly high for what you get. We had just had a taco truck days before that had $2 tacos that were the same size with much better authentic flavor. I love that this family business has lots of passionate patrons who love their food and will continue coming back but if I am being honest, I would not recommend their food when there are so many tastier, more affordable options to be had but if you are looking for a quick boba fix, they are definitely worth a try.

Food is soooooooo good! I stop by here every time I'm in the area! I come from over an hour away just to get these tacos!

I had great service here!! The server even came over to offer a free taco to make up for the wait, even though we didn't think it was that long.

The tacos definitely live up to the name, TASTYY. We tried some vegetarian options, including the veggie keto and veggie taco. That was refreshing to see. The toppings were so fresh and sizeable! They were a little on the pricey side, but we tought it was worth it. My favorite was the coconut shrimp. You also can't go wrong with the birria taco.

Great experience and I'll definitely be back.

Drove all the way to Cameron Park to try this place and it was closed with an "available" sign in the window.

Wonderful service and delicious food. Love this place! I've been on a Keto diet and I don't know of another restaurant that has keto tacos in our area, so thank goodness for this tasty place! Definitely give this place a try as they have something for everyone.

Drove all the way from Sac to Cameron Park after seeing a FB for a special potato ground beef bacon taco. Unfortunately it was a limited time offer in which they were still critiquing so it was not available. :( I did however, get to try their coconut shrimp taco, birria taco, and carne asada taco. The shrimp taco had lots of flavor and tortilla was homemade. The birria taco was so delicious it didn't even need the consome to dip it! I was not to impressed with the carne asada taco, but that's ok it was an add on for making the trek without having the special item I came for. I was told they will be introducing some new items for trial soon. I will be on the lookout! It is an interesting menu as they also had milk/boba teas, and keto tacos with cheese shells, which I will have to try next time. I ordered a strawberry matcha tea with boba and it was quite tasty as well. I will be back!

We love supporting local eateries (over big chains) when we can especially when we are out and about. We found Tasty Taco Box on yelp with 4 stars as we were hungry and wanted something relatively quick in the area. We drove up just before 2pm and there was 1 couple ordering in front of us. There are a few tables avail for outside dining. My kids were excited that there was a sign above that stated tamales steam fresh at home in 90 minutes and my boys love tamales.

We walked in and noticed no tamales for sale on the menu. Mainly just tacos and boba. I asked about the tamales and they stated they only sell those togo to be made at home. Hummm...

Starving we moved forward and ordered (2) orders of 3 mix tacos for $11 (or 3.95 each) and a coconut shrimp taco $5, chicken quesadilla $7.25, (2) strawberry lemonades ($4 each) and a coffee ganache ($7) beverage and sat outside to wait for our food.

About 15 minutes in, kids started getting hangry, we tried to go to Joe's coffee and deli located in the same complex but they closed at 2:00. Bummer!

Wow. 30 minutes in, we got the coffee ganache beverage (tasted more chocolate than coffee) and 5 mins later got the 2 strawberry lemonades. The host that brought our drinks and had taken our order mentioned our food should be out in 5-8 minutes. Our food came out at 2:52 which was double the time advised. We did notice that everyone else had the same average wait time before and after us. 45-50 average wait for some tacos!

Food did arrive warm and beverages all tasted OK. Nothing was special or stood out as outstanding.

We should have read the Yelp reviews before coming as it seemed like a common theme. Staff/Service didn't greet. They weren't nice but weren't mean if that makes sense. They were there to take an order, deliver an order and that's about it.

If you're in the area, you may want to try ordering ahead togo and pick up. I'm not sure if they do that but the wait is extremely long for tacos and drinks.

Great service! $12 for3 tacos. One coconut shrimp, one tri tip, one chicken taco. Also had a rasberry bobo. And 6 chicken wings to go.

Great food great people. Must try the tritip tacos. Worth the trip to Cameron park for sure
