A hidden gem in the middle of downtown Newark. Great prices, good portions, but definitely more areas to improve on. Half the time they got my order wrong or left out items here and there. But we keep going back, because I will always crave asian food for lunch. Wait is a little long during lunch time since everything is made to order. The kimbap rolls are my favorite, but only the correct beef kimbap. Couple times I got the ham or pork incorrectly. Not sure why they keep getting it wrong.
Tonkatsu - Good pieces of fried pork.
Beef over rice - not too bad
Riceballs - huge baseball size rice balls seasoned with sesame oil, seaweed, meat, and carrots
Kimchi fried rice - decent fried rice
Ddukkbokki - Little too sweet, but good amount of spice
Kimbap - Definitely get the beef kimbap!
They are also constantly stocking up on korean chips and drinks. Good if you're craving junk food!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - K K.Springfield Township, NJ6337May 1, 2018
This place is awesome.
It's an unassuming little place on the corner. You won't even know it's Korean food walking by or simply reading the name. I actually found this place on Yelp. I often crave Asian food for lunch...so I'm always on the hunt.
Best thing to do is order ahead of time then go there to pick up. The place is quite small so there isn't really even any room to wait for your order. A word of advice if you are to order ahead of time, check your order when you pick up. The order gets mixed up a bit, but it doesn't bother me because I know it's only two people working and their food is delicious and very well priced.
With that being said, I got a wrong order today. I asked for a rice bowl, but got a rice ball. However, it was the best mistake ever made. It was so delicious that I went back later in the afternoon to buy 2 more. For $2, these things are the best bang for the buck.
I think this will be my go-to place from no on. I may even order extra to bring home for dinner.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Elysa O.Bloomfield, NJ74153464Mar 4, 2018
I wish you all could of seen my happy dance I did when I discovered this place. Yes!! Finally, reasonable korean food in downtown newark. Heads up: It is a small lil spot so get there early or order a head of time. Everything is made to order. So many different choices, I couldn't decide. Everything looked amazing. My co-worker and I came during our lunch break. It was a bit of a wait, so glad our boss is not a stickler about our break time.
She ordered Veggie Ramen, I ordered Jap Chae ( korean stlye noodle dish with sauteed veggies and Bulgogi) and we shared a egg roll ( korean style egg roll). It was delicious and we cant wait to go back. My Jap Chae was around $7, The egg roll was $5 and I believe the soup is around $7. So reasonable for lunch. They also give you a small salad with your meal.
The Jap Chae was made with mild spice. The spices were spot on! The veggies had a nice crunch to it and weren't soggy or undercooked. To best describe the egg roll, it was like a omelete you dip in soy sauce. It was mouth watering. My coworker and I could'nt finish it , she brought it home for her husband.
They have an array of different soups and dishes you see at korean bbq spots. I can't wait to go back and try their bimbaps!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Emma X.Manhattan, NY29095Jul 19, 2018
They advertised that all meals come w salad but there was NO salad. I paid $8 for just a tiny portion of beef and rice. I literately had to go & beg for a salad (that I should've gotten). I couldn't even eat the beef it was so salty and over cooked . How about false advertising. Do NOT go there! You'll just end up being disappointed.

I've had the kimchi fried rice with an egg on top a few times. It's tasty! The rice normally comes with a small salad with orange zesty dressing and the soup of the day but I may have ordered a lunch deal. Kimchi is high in probiotics and I truly believe the rice keeps me regular.

KOREAN BBQ!
Korean BBQ at an affordable price for lunch! I have tried most of the items on their menu, and I've enjoyed everything! If I wasn't so far away, I'd eat here every day!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Simon K.Redlands, CA160547Apr 21, 2018
Great find.
I've always walked past this place thinking, oh there's a new korean food restaurant, but never went in. But, it all changed when one of my friends started getting ginger tea from here (which I hear is awesome). But, today my friends decided to take a chance and was not disappointed.
We ordered the fried chicken (plain, sweet and sour, and soy garlic). The chicken was big and meaty, but perhaps was not double fried (which is the standard for Korean fried chicken), but the chicken was tender, juicy, and good all around. Go with the soy garlic though. 8.5/10.
We also ordered the dduk-bok-ee which is rice cake in a spicy sauce. This was obviously not authentic (sauce was watered down so it isnt as spicy, wasnt a gochujang base, rice cake was deep fried), but the crunch of the rice cake gave it a pleasant texture. 7/10.
We also got the bulgogi which is probably the most famous Korean dish in America. It was a bit salty for my taste, but was not the worst I've had. Overall 6.5/10.
However, the key to this place is hospitality and service. I was not the one that picked up the food, but my friend who did could not stop RAVING about the service. Apparently, the owner refused a tip when he put in some goodies (ChocoPie: a chocolate, marshmellow dessert) and was all smiles when my friend was in there to pick up the food. 15/10!!!! Hospitality is a lost art in today's restaurant business (especially in Newark) so this is a HUGE factor into my 5-star rating.
Come here to get Korean food when you have an intense craving and come in to feel the warmth and high level of service at this restaurant!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sara K.Louisville, KY011Dec 11, 2018
I didnt know this korean restaurant existed in Newark. I honestly did not expect it to be a korean owned place, but it is! They give you plenty amount of food and the food tastes good as well. Definite choice for Uber eats!

This place is delightful. I am just discovering Korean food but I am hooked. I like ordering the veggie dumplings (love the crisp green onion on top) and either the Jap Chae Noodle or the Fried Bibimbap both vegetarian style. I enjoy the combination of sauce, egg and veggies ans the portion size is very filling shared with another person. This is my new favorite spot, prices are very reasonable, love the take out boxes and I don't even mind that this isnt a sit down restaurant because i know the food will be awesome.
