No way you can't give this place five stars, favorite place to go for a burrito in the Mission. My favorite thing to get is the super burrito with al pastor. I love that they slice avocado instead of guacamole. The burritos are also huge for the price, so worth it!

One small note, they are cash only so remember to bring cash. They have an ATM machine inside though, so you have an alternative if you want.

I had a the Veggie Burrito after seeing that it was the "best Veggie burrito" in town. Unfortunately, I should have probably gotten a regular meat burrito, because the veggie burrito was just like what I would expect a meat burrito to be like, except with like avocado on the inside instead of nicely grilled meat. It ended up missing that special touch of meat flavor that makes burritos good.

So I guess this is what a "Mission Burrito" tastes like, and to be honest, coming from SoCal, I think he burritos down there taste much better. They're pricier up here (but that's expected), and I don't think they taste as good. The ones in SoCal have rich flavors, and everything goes well, and the seasoning is always on point, which I couldn't quite say the same for here. Some parts felt a bit bland, others were just okay, and it didn't really come all together.

The one nice thing though, is their green salsa is good! A little on the simpler side, it still is nice and hot as I would expect from a green salsa.

No tripe so that was a letdown. However, we liked that our tacos came with a side of chips and salsa -- loved the crunch of the chips and the salsa flavor! The soft tacos weren't as sizable as Farolito but we loved the extra crisp of the carnitas (my gf preferred Cancun's). I liked the lengua but it wasn't as memorable as I would have liked.

    Would like to return!

Incredible vegetarian burrito! I live in the mission, and this is my first time here. I can't be more happy right now.
The tortilla is just melting, and mouth watering. The quality is well done here. My favorite taqueria in the city. Simple and authentic to grab a bite.

There's something about a wet huge burrito that's deeply satisfying. Taqueria Cancun definitely delivers that sweet Mission bucketlist burrito and it's delicious to boot. Cash only with a helpful staff, I got a huge "wet" Majado with carne asada and it was delicious and filling. Impressive if you can eat a whole one and definitely a fork and knife endeavor. Free chips when you sit down -- score!

The enchiladas looked great as well, but pretty much everyone in our party had a burrito. Delightful!

Yes. Yes. Yes. The grilled carne asada super burrito here was the best of the Cali Mex food I had on my trip to San Francisco, and I am the kind of person who does the two lunch bang-bang, so I tried a lot of food on my trip. I am literally tearing up a little knowing I can't get my hands on another Taqueria Cancun burrito in the foreseeable future.

Every flavor and texture was perfect and they were not skimpy on the avocado or cheese. The meat was juicy and bursting with flavor. Just so good.

When I say it was the best burrito, I mean it - I also tried La Taqueria and El Farolito (and Little Chihuahua) the same day so I am not messing around.

We tried to go to Gracias Madre (i know, but it sounded interesting) and there was a 45 minute wait. Ended up here instead and I'm so glad they asked us to wait that long. Super fast service. Amazing meats (carne asada, super prawn, al pastor, carnitas) you name it. ALSO their nachos come as a huge pile of amazingness. I wish I ordered that. Next time!! Highly recommend. 10/10. The ambience is fantastic as well. They have a Virgin Mary so you know it's real.

I've been coming to Taqueria Cancun for more than 15 years. I don't visit frequently, but I've eaten the food at least a dozen times over the years. And I've come to realize that the food tastes best when intoxicated. Other Yelpers agree on that note.

Yesterday I ordered the super burrito with 50/50 carne asada and lengua. The lengua was great but the carne asada was overcooked. It had two tiny slivers of avocado, enough cheese but almost no sour cream or salsa. I really want to enjoy the "super" part of my burrito when I order one, so Taqueria Cancun let me down.

The service is always patient and helpful, generally nice at the counter. They're so busy though that it's difficult for them to stay on top of clearing tables and there isn't a station to drop your dirty dishes. So tables are often left dirty.

On the contrary, the restroom was as clean as I had ever found it and it pleasantly smelled of bleach instead of anything that would ruin a meal. Perhaps that's because I arrived at 6:00 before the dinner rush.

In any event, the ambiance is cool and touristy. The food is so so, but the complimentary chips are nice. For me, I look forward to trying some of the other longstanding as well as the new & hip Mission District food offerings.

It's an institution.  It's fast. You need cash. It's delicious and filling.  Perfect post a big run or ride and pre a big nap.  The burritos are huge and fabulous.  I  walked out happy.

There is a reason this is one of the best Taqueria's in the city. It has officially surpassed El Faralito in my book because of:

    1) size
    2) quality
    3) flavor
    4) their super nachos with both the sour cream and the green sauce
    6) Their cheese enchiladas

I will be back that is for sure! You don't need to be drunk to enjoy these tacos and burritos!

Cash only. Best burritos in Mission. Like chipotle but 10x as good and big. Seriously you may want to split a burrito. Good prices good/fresh ingredients good beer. Stays busy but doesn't get too packed. Get their burrito mojado. Colorful inside, Mexican music and a bathroom which you may need afterwards.

Tasty burrito / taco / meat plate spot, but not downright amazing to make me eat there all the time.

Have to get there at the right time- we went around 8pm on a Sunday evening and barely managed to grab a table (there are oh so many seats inside).  Lines can get super long and crowds the inside of the place, so not good if you are claustrophobic.

My guy friends ordered the carne asada burritos- first thing I noticed were how massive they are!  Even they had trouble eating the whole thing (one of whom did a 3 hr bike ride just before)... I can't even imagine trying to eat one myself.  Also noticed how much salsa they dumped on their burritos, which personally means that it was either not flavorful or was dry.

I ordered the Alambres (beef, bacon, peppers, onions, rice, beans, and tortillas) and, again, the plate was massive.  The only reason I ate most of it was because I had just gone on a super long run and needed the carbs.  The meat was flavorful, but it was unfortunately rather tough and salty (probs was because of the bacon).

Super cheap- we all paid less than $10 for these massive plates of food (mine was the most expensive at $9.99).

So it's not a go-to place for me, but it's not the worst option ever in the Mission.  I can see why people might like it (cheap price for massive portions); maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.  Put it this way- if everyone in my group of friends wants to go here, I'd tag along, though I probably won't be the one to suggest it.

This review is for the al pastor super burrito with everything. It's perfect. Texas may have great tacos, but our burritos are lacking. I could seriously eat a Cancun burrito everyday. The flour tortilla was homemade, the al pastor was perfectly spiced, the chips were fresh, and the salsa was tasty. Cash only. They have beer, too.

I needed a Mission burrito and I needed it before I headed to the airport in the am. I had read about Taqueria Cancun and was able to make it before they closed on a Sunday night. Located on Mission Street across the street from a neighborhood watering hole called Beauty Bar. It was late and in their last hour of business, so the drunk crowd was def in effect. No comment on how the Mission has changed since I was a kid.... On to the food.

I ordered a carne asada super burrito ($8.99). It comes with rice, beans, onions, salsa, cheese, avocado & sour cream. Sin cilantro para mi. Taqueria Cancun's burritos are pretty big. They are not cylindrical like El Farolito. They are fatter and use a different kind of flour tortilla. Still good and loaded with flavors. The asada was good and the other ingredients with the meat, all went well together. It is definitely a meal unto itself. It's not cheap but you will be stuffed after you're through.

We also ordered a couple of super tacos ($3.99). One asada and one al pastor. They are big too and really loaded. Each super taco, like the super burrito, comes with onions, cilantro, salsa, cheese, avocado and sour cream. Lots of sour cream. It's good stuff! The al pastor is pretty good. I liked it.

We took our food back to the hotel but they still gave us the complimentary chips and salsa. Service was friendly and quick. Tip the good folks at Taqueria Cancun. They more than deserve it.

I totally did not check Yelp before coming here and I did not know that it was CASH ONLY. Luckily there was an ATM inside so I could withdraw some cash ($2 transaction fee). There was a line for the ATM so I'm guessing a lot of people didn't know either. I came here solely for the tacos and I ended up getting four: lengua, cabeza, carne asada, and carnitas. Total was $14, a little more expensive than I'm used to. I expect a regular taco (just onions, cilantro, and salsa) to usually be around $2.50-3 at a taqueria but it's $3.25 for one here. The tacos are pretty big though so I would say they're worth the price.

The lengua and cabeza were very tender. Carne asada wasn't that great - a bit dry. The carnitas though, was the best carnitas I've ever had! It was perfectly fried pork that was juicy and flavorful. It was definitely my favorite out of the four. What was lacking was the salsa on top of the tacos. Although the tortilla was quite soft, I would have preferred more salsa on the tacos cause after a few bites, the tacos got kind of dry. They do give chips and salsa with your purchase, but the chips tasted like something I could get at a grocery store instead of the fresh, crispy chips I get at other taquerias. I love chips and salsa along with my Mexican food so good chips are a deal breaker for me! I ended up using the salsa that came with the chips for my tacos instead. It would be so much better if they had a salsa bar!

Overall, tacos were good, but I've had better experiences elsewhere and it's a bit more pricey than the other taquerias I've been to.

One of the best breakfast burritos I've had in my life. The burritos are huge, so you might be able to split one with a friend.

2 stars when I'm sober. 3 stars when I'm drunk. Okay for a quick drunchie craving if convenient.

Food is okay. Bit greasy. Lackluster compared to other Taquerias.

There's quite a bit of seating. It's pretty dirty. The grounds uneven so don't trip if you are in heels or messed up!

I ordered a lengua burrito and it was okay.

Stopped by and tried the carne asada burrito mojado. We were going to get some tacos but saw a bunch of people eating this amazing looking wet burrito so we got it instead. We ordered it to go and feasted in Dolores park. Unfortunately, they had given us two knives instead of two forks but we made it work. The burrito was at least 6 inches long and maybe 4 inches in diameter. It was stuffed with rice, beans, onions, cilantro, salsa, and carne asada (small chunks and I wish there was more of it). Then, they top the burrito with green salsa, melted cheese, sour cream, and mexican salsa. Finally, its all smothered in enchilada sauce. YUM. It came with a bag of chips with both salsas on the side, as well.

I've been here a number time for drunchies and never fully appreciated the beauty of Taqueria Cancún until I came here sober.

I came on a Thursday night around 8:30 pm and the place was reasonably filled but not overly crowded; my friend ordered the pork quesadilla and I got the beef tongue super burrito. The pork quesadilla was seriously sooooo juicy and friggin bomb!! The beef tongue in my super burrito was incredibly tender and the burrito was great--my only qualm is I wish they put a tad bit more salsa inside because the other flavors can get really heavy without the fresh salsa to cut the grease and richness of the rest of the ingredients.

Price was reasonable and what you'd expect from a burrito shop.

Oh!!! They have beef brain... not for the faint of heart. I tried a sample of it and it was really tender but didn't have much flavor to it. If you're feeling ballsy sample it!

I really wanted to give this place 4 stars but i think 3.5 is where i will settle.

The two of us shared a mojado burrito carne asada! It was wet and spicy. The salsas and sauce were the best part of it. Burrito was good but perhaps not the best meat since it was a bit tough and very tiny bits. All in all a good experience tho, or at least until i went home and got very gassed up  very unpleasant evening!

Friendly staff but the place is not very clean especially the bathroom.

Something that upset me further is the use of plastic forks and knives. This is a sit down place so it's pretty uncomfortable to try and cut your wet burrito with non environmentally friendly tools. Even if they would be recyclable, i don't see reason why a sit down place would do this. Might not return...my heart is little heartbroken
