Tried calling them today but the phone is "not accepting calls". Anybody know if they're still in business? (Sorry about the rating -- never been there, so chose the middle)

This bakery is very, very close to my condo. I was walking down my alley on New Years Day and I smelled cinnamon. I remembered that Tannourine just opened and I wanted to check it out! The man working the counter was very friendly and wanted to give me as many free samples as I wanted. So nice of him!
I ended up purchasing a dozen of baklava and some pistachio cookies. The sweet treats were delicious and the baklava was nice and flaky. I will definitely be back but it will have to be once in a while because this place will ruin my diet! If you are in the area, check out this new bakery!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Laszlo R.San Diego, CA9115114Jan 14, 2009
Tannourine has yummy stuff. I know: I have a genetically sweet tooth inherited from my father. The bakers are genuinely nice people. I know: I am Jewish and they are Arabs and they call me "brother". Eating there is not against my beliefs but against my diet. Yet, I cannot stop myself and I go weekly. Their baklava is irresistible and so are those people. Try them both, but I warn you: Tannourine Bakery is contagious and addictive... And if it's too cold, they have a web site and they deliver their goodies all over USA: www.tannourinebakery.com

A.) The old man who owns this place is the sweetest person on earth. Every time I came in he would remember me and chat with me, and offer me some amazing middle eastern coffee. Once he even invited me in back to sit and eat some dinner with he and his friend who run the bakery, it was delightful.
B.) The spinach pies, and pita breads (especially the kind with cheese on top) are delicious, as well as extremely reasonably priced!
C.) Baklava... so many kinds, and all tasty. They also sell little boxes of a variety of baklava or cookies, that make really wonderful gifts.
If you are ever in the area, you must try it. If you live in the area and haven't tried it yet, you are missing out!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kelly G.Chicago, IL2312115Aug 19, 2009
I was pretty excited when this bakery opened, as it has a very appealing and inviting atmosphere, compared to some of the bakeries in the area. Everything is clean, and the woman who works there is VERY friendly. She answered my questions, and was very patient with my requests. While they don't have a HUGE selection, what they do have is high quality.
Here's what I sampled:
Cheese Pie - actually cheese melted onto a pita. It was surprisingly amazing, especially after being warmed up in the oven.
Meat Pie - a pita with meat and spices baked on top. The meat has a nice nutmegy flavor, but needs a bit more zing. I suggest finding a sauce you like to eat it with, or maybe heating it up with some cheese on top.
Pita Bread - a HUGE stack of fresh, tasty pitas for just a few dollars. Just like what they would give you at a restaurant with some hummus.
Oregano & Sesame spiced pita - Definitely different, but also quite good.
Pistachio Baklava/Cookie- They actually have pistachio only treats, which is great for me since I'm allergic to walnuts and can't usually enjoy baklava. It is crispy and has the distinct flavor of honey and nuts. The texture and taste is just perfect.
Overall, I think Tannourine is a great new place in the Albany Park hood, especially since they have great, friendly staff as well as really low prices. I look forward to trying more of their items.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
