Made-from-scratch sauces, tamales and tortillas (watch them being rolled out in the kitchen), surrounded by lively art and big picture window views that look out into the heart of downtown makes the Taco Lobo a great place for a quick lunch or dinner. The spicy chicken in the pollo asado is a winner with diners, as is the tasty salsa bar, full of homemade salsa combinations. The food is always fresh, the atmosphere always fun. Come down and enjoy an authentic taste of Mexico!

I used to love this place, but I ordered a carne asada torta at my last visit and it was completely unseasoned and didn't taste like very high quality meat.
No one at the table was happy with their order, and the only redeeming thing was the salsa bar and chips.
We probably won't be coming back anytime soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Terry U.WA, WA01Apr 13, 2023
My wife and I recently ate at Taco Lobo. It has been our favorite Mexican restaurant for many years.
However on this occasion, we were surprised at the irrationally high increase in prices and the disappearance and quality of the salsa bar (limited and watered down.).
The meals came almost immediately after we sat down, leaving us with no chance to even dip a tostada into a sauce. My plate was just warm and the rice and refried beans were also barely warm.
Surprised at the absence of quality of the food service and the excessive pricing that accompanied it, we decided on the spot that we would never return to Taco Lobo.
It was an unfortunate and very disappointing visit - more representative of a scam by the management.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eric O.Bellingham, WA04Dec 17, 2022
Always clean with tasty food.
The downtown area is dirty with homeless moving around like they own it. I don't bring my family into the downtown area anymore.

Amazing food! Great atmosphere! Loved the salsa bar. We will be coming back! Try the Tacos De Birria if you come.

We have gone to Taco Lobo for many years. Covid was tough on them and we didn't frequent much. Today we went back--. Great, clean and just like we remember it. The chili rellanos were fresh, hot and yummy. Chicken enchiladas were freshly made and yummy. Still our favorite Mexican restaurant in town.

Jul 5, 2019Previous reviewI have been going to Taco Lobo for many years for their chili rellenos. I'm actually quite obsessed with them and have tried them in many parts of the country.. The best ever has always been Taco Lobo. Unfortunately, in the last year their quality and flavor has gone down. They also do not keep enough on hand so are often sold out. This can even happen by 6:30 on a Friday night- unacceptable. This time, no rellenos, the chicken enchilada was okay, rice was mushy and the beans too salty. My husband had the special which wasn't good either. Sorry, after all these years it's time to try somewhere else in town.

I've not had much luck with Mexican restaurants in Bellingham. Overall, they're rather dull. This one, however, is decent.
As a vegetarian, I haven't found any real exciting food options, but the salsa bar and margaritas make Taco Lobo worth visiting.
I've had the cheese quesadilla several times. It's pretty good. The "guacamole" is watery and strange. I would not recommend it if you're used to fresh guacamole.
Service is always friendly and fast.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Arvind S.Bellevue, WA711510Jul 31, 2022
4 of roughly 10 tables empty. They have a sign to wait for a seat. Staff weren't able to find the time to seat us in about 5-10 mins we waited

Wish I could give it zero stars!! We loved the "old" Taco Lobo but we had dinner there last recently after not eating out much during the last few years. We were so disappointed and feel the restaurant must be under new ownership or management. The prices have been increased to a level in line with a very nice restaurant, not appropriate for a "walk up order at the counter" casual place. The food was delivered before we could sit down with no time to enjoy chips and salsa. And the food was cold, the self-serve water pitchers were empty in spite of the fact that the restaurant was empty when we went in. It used to be our "go to" casual place. It WAS a treasure--we will NOT return!

Taco Lobo has been a staple for my family for more than a decade. I have never had a bad experience there, either with the food or with the staff so I am taken aback by some of the negative reviews I see here. I suppose I could have been EXTREMELY lucky with every visit (somewhere in the 100's of times). I would venture a guess however, that there are those who lift themselves by diminishing others.
Taco Lobo continues to be my standard by which other Mexican restaurants are compared. I will certainly edit this review if that changes, but until and unless that happens, I stand by my above statement.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
