Q:
Is there a vegetarian ramen option? One without the chicken bone broth base?
A:
They have Vegetable Ramen that comes with salt flavored & mushrooms base soup. Or you can try the Dry Garlic Ramen, which has no broth.

3/29/2022We went back for a second visit last night on a particularly cold night in need of some warm ramen soup.
It's not a huge place or a particularly pretty place, but going the reviews, we thought it was worth checking out.
Overall, most things were good. The service was good, albeit a bit hard to push through since the server didn't speak English. But it wasn't really a hindrance.
The soup was actually really amazing ramen. We both had the spicy ramen for the second time.
Prices were great.
Where they lost me and two stars is that it's not a very clean place and last night towards the end of our meal we could hear the bug zapper in the kitchen go off every 45 second to a minute.
Places get flies. I know. But given the uncleanliness of the place that suddenly became apparent, listening to bugs being zapped while eating was just too much for my tastes.
Sadly, I don't see going back. - 62315731
1/18/2022Order:
- Shoyu Ramen (4/5)
- Kara-age (4/5)
Pros:
- Great tasting food
- Good portion sizes
- Variety of ramen to choose from
Cons:
- Not all food options off of the menu were available when we ordered - they did not have the gyoza
Overall: I was thoroughly impressed with my to-go order and definitely think that the food will be better fresh at the restaurant - Jonathan L.Brooklyn, NY3350188
5/8/2022Yummy Japanese food at Tabata located at 540 9th Ave, NY! Small place with awesome food! We had the Tabate Ramen - the signature chicken ramen infused with soy bean powder and rich coconut milk! Tip with eggs, crispy noodle and red onions!
The Katsu Don - Deep fried Panko breaded chicken with onions, scallions, mushrooms and egg over rice! Yummy!! - 190323362
10/12/2021We ordered the Tabata Ramen and the Black Garlic Ramen. I'd say the broth was a bit on the watery side for the garlic ramen. Despsite that however, I really enjoyed my food. There were seasoning options provided on the counter, which didn't really feel covid friendly considering the fact that one of the shakers didn't have a cover over it but they do require proof of vaccination in order to dine-in if that's any consolation.
This is a small hole in the wall ramen spot, not meant to seat groups of more than 4 comfortably. There is seating at tables and at the counter. When I went I found it to be very hot inside (even before I started to eat hot soup).
The Sapporo on the menu was actually LIGHT which was disappointing. I wish that would've been specified since that is a very different taste than normal Sapporo. - 112706843
9/10/2021Man this place was quite the disappointment. Service and staff were great but the food was very not good. I ordered their name sake tabata Ramen and is was tasteless. I mean just really bland and bad. The noodles were tasteless the chicken was greasy and tasteless and of very poor quality (stringy, fatty, etc). There was the one egg which was also hard not the usual soft egg expected. They added raw red onion for vegetables and that is it. No carrots, no crunch, no  bean sprouts. I asked the waiter for some kind of spice and he gave me powered pepper or something. I poured it on and it just didn't help so I gave up. I don't mean to keep at it but this was probably close to the worst Ramen I've ever had. Maybe I ordered wrong but you think you'd want your name sake dish to be the best one....? Either way I won't be back yikes.

5/16/2022The lava men ramen (aka spicy tonkotsu) was superb! The noodles were borderline al dente my only complaint is that they could have been cooked a little longer. So perhaps in the future customers should specify their noodle preference. The fried tofu and fish sauce was good but I don't think I would order it again/ not because it is bad but because there are many other amazing things to be eaten on the menu. Lastly the customer service was amazing, the waitress was very attentive and kind. Thus, if you are ever wandering on eighth avenue in New York City and you are an avid lover or ramen, you should definitely dine at the Tabata ramen restaurant!!!

10/16/2021Toot wakes up in hells kitch it's meandering night and scent of autumn rain mingles with air. Chill in them old creak bones with only one honest cure.
Hot broth and noodles ends all despair and that where this toot flew touring the store fronts boarded up fronts lime green laser florescent light neon lit fronts sinking under he empire glare.
Seated at window cold beer in hand hot soup under mouth he slurped and burped and brooded.
A delightful meal a delightful spot a worthy stop. - Saharut H.Chicago, IL575
