Shut the freaking front door! Sweetheartz BBQ know a lil something about good ass BBQ. I ordered the small end rib dinner $12.99 which comes with 2 sides and rice. I ordered the mac and cheese and baked beans. Mac and cheese got some skills. Mac and cheese have to come right because I AM THE QUEEN of mac and cheese. So it's pretty tough to meet or exceed my expectations. But it's aight... the baked beans... hmmm not so good.. the rice, tasty. The ribs, good. But the true winner is this damn loaf of a cornbread. It's just done right. You taste the love... so, sweetheart, you almost got my heart ... gonna take some time for us to get use to one another. But I see a beautiful relationship in the making. ...

6.12.16 mini loaf cornbread. You want yo cornbread...lol

I stopped by yesterday looking for lunch.

Was slightly disappointed as they didn't start serving that until noon.

All in all it's a nice spot located right next to Dixie Highway and Stirling Road. It's small but the ladies that work there put in work. The menu looked good and tasty as there were plenty of good options.

All I had was breakfast food and it was good. The highlight were the biscuits which were very tasty. It was a good tease since I didn't have lunch. The price was very good too.

All in all I would be back.

Our family was in town on Sunday, from a cruise we had just departed. The owner and her two children opened the restaurant exclusively for all 22 of us and let me tell you, the food was GOOD. No complaints from a family of picky/particular eaters! Some of us thought the drinks were too sweet but the majority drank with glee because "that's how drinks in the south are made!" If we are ever back in town we will be dining here again!

I was very disappointed. I ordered from Grubhub. I was supposed to get waffles and scrambled eggs. There were no scrambled eggs and waffles were cold. There were no utensils and napkins. I called to complain and the person who answered the phone was not apologetic. She said they would send a driver out to send me my order again. The driver never showed up again. I will never eat at this place again nor will I order from them via Grubhub.

What a difference a couple days makes! Today was a home run for us and Sweeteheartz on Father's Day.

I haven't been feeling well for some time, but lately I have been particularly ill. It was very stressful with Father's Day approaching and trying to plan something nice for my Father-in-law. I wasn't sure how I was going to do all the shopping and get everything ready for the usual Sunday barbecue, It became clear that I was going to have to find another way to celebrate. Sweeteheartz was fresh in my mind after the other day as it was really good food. The nice thing for us is this style of barbecue is exactly the kind of food this family loves. So we talked and Hubby was thinking the same thing. He really loved everything we ordered the first day.

So today, I put my order early and sent a note that I didn't need it right away. I wanted to make sure they had time to prepare everything as it was a pretty big order. This time I ordered 2 whole chickens (1 with two sides, cole slaw and potato salad), and again, The Tarpley Family Rib Meal (Mac and Cheese with Baked Beans-and Cornbread).

Wow. We had a lot of food. Everything was fantastic! My father-in-law was eating so fast and barely said a word the whole time. It was obvious he was pleased with the food. Now, my mother-in-law is another story. When she loves something, she has to talk about it with each bite noting something wonderful she noticed with each morsel. She loved the way the mac and cheese tasted and the crust on the ribs where it is slightly charred on the edges. She pulled off a little sliver and held it up remarking, that this is her favorite part...and then she went on and on about how great the sauce was. I was kind of blushing as if I had made it myself...except, well, I didn't! The really funny thing was when she commented on how the Collard Greens tasted because she doesn't really care for Greens. LOL

Hubby was also very happy with the Greens. The other day must have been a fluke because these were excellent. I have to confess, I didn't try them, not that I needed to. My plate was full of deliciousness and I packed on the chicken and ribs, beans, corn bread, cole slaw-oh and mmmm mac and cheese and still somehow managed to finish it all.

Thank you to Sweeteheartz for taking away the stress, and bringing us a delicious home cooked meal that we all loved making this a really wonderful Father's Day barbecue!

Rib dinner with Mac N Cheese, Corn and Corn Bread. Bonus side of Rice and peas.

FIRST, this is NOT a restaurant. They do catering and delivery.
SECOND, they operate from their home. I only say this because when I followed the address I was surprised and I thought I was in the wrong place, not being from the area.
THIRD, the food was pretty good.

      I was pleasantly surprised ......
The chicken was pretty damn good. It really was. I enjoyed it, a lot.
The ribs were a little better than decent. They were smothered in a barbecue sauce that was pretty good. The ribs were meaty and most of them were tender.

The mac and cheese was pretty good ....
Nothing special about the rice and beans ......
Cole slaw was cole slaw .....

The pecan pie played to rave reviews. The cobbler was good but not as good as the pecan pie.

Please understand where you are going to go to pickup your food and you will be ok after that but for me .... it was a BiiiiGGGGG surprise!

They need to put napkins, forks and spoons in the bag. That would have made eating the meal easier.

It helped that they called me to see if I was still picking up my order. The truth of the matter is, I was lost as bad as a blind bat with a seeing eye dog.

The call helped me find them and honestly ........ it was worth it.

      7 Sisters BBQ lives on!..

For those of you not over 40 years old and from or familiar with the Carvers Ranches, Miami Gardens Estates or Pembroke Park neighborhoods this means nothing to you, but it means something good for us locals who grew up on 7 Sisters food.

It was a great Soul Food restaurant on Pembroke Rd. off of S.W. 56th Ave. for many years that's the closest thing to a "Landmark" as we'll ever have around these parts. Sweeteheartz is the only thing that remains of it.

If you're partial to or even just curious about trying old-school Southern black folk cooking, especially BBQ, and better yet the old-school Florida black folk cooking I grew up with you HAVE to try Sweeteheartz, I guarantee you'll become a regular customer. I'm not even kidding.

It's a small family owned, little known yet, delivery only business so we only recently found them. As far as delivering is concerned their delivery area is a 20 mile radius which means most of my Yelp friends can also get their hands on this good stuff. They can be found on Eat24 or their own website. I have to mention that I build websites for a living and was surprised at how well done, functional and user-friendly their site is for a small local business.

After ordering for the first time this past week, the food was so good we decided to impress my Florida Cracker parents by having them fix our Father's day Supper.
(For those of you down here from outside the South I'll say again, Florida Crackers and Southern black folks cook and eat almost the exact same thing)

For Father's Day we got their Chicken & Ribs, Coleslaw, Collard Greens, Macaroni N Cheese and Cornbread and everything was honestly really really good.

The Ribs were cooked perfectly. Tender and delicious as hell juicy. The Chicken was moist and really delicious, it's not that easy to pull white meat Chicken off the grill this moist, we were all impressed.
Very few places these days selling BBQ actually make the sauce themselves I'm thinking because there's little need to, they buy it and hopefully hook it up which I'm guessing Sweeteheartz does also but it's hooked up and sweet and damn good.

All the sides were very good also, the Cornbread is moist (which is a battle for anyone who's ever cooked it themselves), really creamy Coleslaw and the Mac N Cheese is straight up Southern black style, the best LOL.

They are not normally open on Sunday's but made an exception for Father's Day even including a $5 Home Depot Gift Card for Dads!

I think the biggest compliment to their food is the fact that every time we eat with my parents they force us to take some leftovers home, they actually get pissed if we don't. We usually go back and forth for like 20 minutes over this every time. After this meal my step dad and mom both said, as they always do "let's put something together for you guys", I answered "no it's okay, it's for you guys" and they both said "Okay!" smiled and it was over. I didn't expect that, I didn't say anything but went home pretty bummed out :\

Bottom line, my Wife is from San Diego and I have for years now bragged to her about the type of food (and how good it is) I grew up on here and I finally found some folks that backed up my story with their cooking.

Thank you Sweetheartz for an awesome Father's day and doing something I have not been able to do on my own so far, making my California girl think I'm a total badass now ;P

DO NOT EAT HERE!! MAJOR FOOD SAFETY ISSUES! Straight from Miami Herald: Sweeteheartz Soulfood and BBQ, 2602 N. 22nd Ave., Hollywood: Sweeteheartz is this week's Which is Worse? establishment.

"Cooked chicken in white refrigerator in storage room with mold on it." That got a Stop Sale.

Or, 185 pieces of rodent dung, broken down as 100 under a shelf next to a Coca-Cola storage room cooler, 60 under a back room shelf next to the employee restroom, 15 under a kitchen shelf and 10 under the three-compartment sink.

And there's some general cleaning yucks, such as "accumulation of food debris/grease on food-contact surface" at the white kitchen refrigerator, a storage room refrigerator, a green freezer in the storage room and the Coca-Cola cooler. And, "wall soiled with accumulated grease, food debris and dust" in the kitchen.

"Grease accumulated on kitchen floor and/or under cooking equipment, pots of used oil on the floor."

"Build up of soil/debris on the floor under shelves" in the entire restaurant.

Macaroni and cheese dry just noodles and cheese literally, ribs tasted like they were baked not on a grill was like soft baked ribs. My mom always said if you walk in a place you can smell the ribs if it's cooked on a grill so I should of known. Greens were descent...Didn't finish my food and won't be returning.
