Came back on our latest visit to NYC and was just as good as last time. The keftedes and suspenders burger were on point!!

Amazing gastropub that we found on Yelp. The French onion soup was the cheesiest ever, the shepherds pie was so good, and the chicken skewers and salad were over the top good. Our server was fantastic and the owner, Romeo, stopped and thanked us for coming in.

We had a group of 8 people at 5:00 pm on a Saturday evening. With 8 people it was difficult to find a place that everyone could agree on. The menu at suspenders pleased everyone and they were able to seat us right away. It was a great fireman bar and the decor was comfortable. The service was a bit slow. There were only 2 servers for the entire place and 1 of them was training. 2 of the meals came out 20 minutes after everyone else's food. They did make up for it with a free round of shots. Once the food did come out, it was delicious! I especially liked the chicken sandwich. I also recommend the drinks.

Old school Irish bar/restaurant serving up the usual favorites and beers. Tuesday afternoon, not many people inside, so was able to grab a seat at the bar and order quickly.
Decided on the Meatloaf to go along with a draft beer (total $25ish). Food comes fairly quickly (surprising considered what I ordered) - a large slab of meatloaf and mashed potatoes covered in gravy with a few pieces of buttered broccoli to the side. Meatload wasn't as warm as I would have hoped, yet the flavor was on point. Seasoned well and good texture. Mashed potatoes were blazing hot on the other hand, which is tempered by the semi-sweet gravy. Broccoli isn't bad either.
Overall straightforward restaurant, service was quick (maybe too quick for the meatloaf) and the menu is what you would expect. Fine enough place for a sit down meal.

Many of my Yelp friends follow me because I take them to local gems around the World where they could mingle with the locals and soak in the culture of the neighborhood as if they were actually living there.
The Suspenders is one of those places.
At 7pm on a weekday, the place was vibrant, lively, energetic, and yes, noisy! But don't let the noise bother you. It's loud because this is where a lot of the workers from NYC's financial district go after work to socialize with their colleagues and friends. Or to relieve their stress. Or to unload their frustrations of the day. Who knows... This is NYC!
But let me assure you that the place was casual, friendly, and absolutely unpretentious.
To make it even better, the quality of the food was top-notch, and the prices of both food and drinks were very reasonable given its location, just steps away from the World Trade Center.
BEEF BARLEY SOUP: Just like how grandma makes it from scratch at home! It was rich and delicious, and without even a hint of artificial flavorings. All natural goodness and amazing yumminess!
BUFFALO CHICKEN FINGERS: Lightly battered strips of chicken breast were fried to perfection and coated with a Buffalo hot sauce that had the perfect balance. It was mildly spicy hot which gave a nice but gentle kick to my palate. I loved the moderate touch of vinegar that gave the dish just the right amount of tartness without overwhelming its flavor. This dish was the perfect companion of an ice old beer!
SUSPENDERS BURGER: This is what they are famous for and you would see servers bringing these burgers out by the dozens all night long! The patty was made with high quality ground beef that was flavorful and not too greasy (Good!) What I liked most was that you could substitute veggies for fries and we chose the sautéed green beans which were very good.
Someone told me that their chicken pot pie is really good and I can't wait to go check it out. Real soon! Yes, I'll be back real soon as this is gonna be my home away from home whenever I'm in NYC.

This place was so slow in getting our food, my yeast infection sprouted into a bright yellow sourdough. Although the owner apologized, he didn't take anything off the bill. There was 9 people in the restaurant and our party was 7. Avoid this place and go to Applebee's which tastes better.

Came here in a group of 6, and was able to sit down quickly and eat even quicker.
If you want something that is fast, quality, filling and good, order the Suspender burger. I believe I read a sign that said they have 3pm-7pm happy hour time range on the Monday I dined there. It's a very short walk from the World Trade Memorial. Very empty around 1/1:30 burgers come out in minutes.
Good:
-Suspender Burger
-Plenty of french fries
-Great spot for a quick $20 meal.
-Our waitress was very fast and efficient.

Stopped here on a rainy day after going to the 9/11 museum. It's right near by - quick walk. We were sat right away and it took a bit for ordering but not too bad. They were out of angry orchard which I was sad about. I didn't really like there other cider.
I got the chicken quesadilla which was really good and we got the burger as well. The mashed potatoes were good and I wish I tried their mashed potato bar. They seemed to have a good amount of happy hour specials if you are around then. Staff was friendly and there was a good amount of seating.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Lou Ann E.Gilbert, AZ0375Apr 13, 2022
Great bartender Brian, some New Yorkers are nice! Generous drinks. Fast service. Had bar food appetizers and they were very good.

I ate here for dinner the night before last with my friends and half of us got food poisoning from the burgers. The staff was nice but, damn, I regret eating here for some over priced contaminated burgers.
Update: the staff isn't that nice after all.
Apparently, I have to site my sources now: https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2019/05/23/beef-recall-memorial-day/
