No. It is not. I think their food is very different.

A classic BOGO place. Sushi and Thai don't exactly go together, but I think the restaurant is actually Thai and put sushi in the name to draw in people. Honestly, sushi and Thai? Not really close to each other in terms of cuisine.
I got a pumpkin curry since I had some great kabocha squash curries in San Fran, and I was certainly craving something warm. Unfortunately, this curry was a far cry from the great kabocha squash curries I had. In fact, the potato tasted all sour and bitter like it had already gone bad. When I pointed out the bad potato to the waitress, she went back to the chef and then told me that the potatoes were fresh. Really? I don't know what potatoes taste like? I stopped eating right away, but they didn't even offer to comp or say sorry. It was just my fault that I don't really know what potatoes the "Thai" way was. Gee, no thanks.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Layna J.Raleigh, NC011Mar 4, 2024

Bogof on sushi rolls and lawd they were the best sushi ive had, wanna take ab crab Rangoon's... they use real crab meat and their savory instead of sweet like most are, for our entrees i got the princess burrito with spicy tuna swapped with shrimp tempura and omg!

I should update this - they have changed a lot since they reopened. They closed down for a long time (maybe a year?) for major renovations, and upon reopening, their service and food has much improved.
The sushi is really top notch, much better than before, and they have a great diversity of special rolls.
The thai food is a bit hit or miss, good but not the best in Raleigh, but, I really enjoy the sushi.
We go with our 6-year-old and they're always really good with her, and give her crayons and a coloring-sheet, and kids-chopsticks-helpers.
The sticky mango desert is worth getting as well, really tasty.
And calling by phone is much better now, they are much better about answering and taking orders by phone. They also have a very convenient online ordering through their website with 50% off on the special sushi rolls, so we use that a lot.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 18, 2016Previous reviewWe live right around the corner from Sushi-Thai, so we have been frequent dine-in and take-out customers. Eating-in is a great experience - we love the atmosphere of the giant aquarium and the carved wooden tables, and the service is friendly. The thai food is really good, although our most frequent nitpick is that you never know how hot "Medium" will be - sometimes really hot, sometimes mild. The sushi is good, although not our favorite in town.
Our take-out experience used to be very good, but recently has been atrocious, and we are not sure if we'll be ordering from them again. Last week we called to place a take-out order, and kept getting a busy signal. When we finally got through, we were put on hold for a long time. Finally, someone picked up and said "Hello? Hello?" and disconnected us. We tried calling back repeatedly and got a busy signal. We gave up and ordered a pizza. Last night we tried again. We were again put on hold, and after more than 5 minutes we gave up. This was at 6:15 PM, it can't have been that busy nor should it take more than 5 minutes if they had been in the middle of ringing someone up. We gave up and got take-out from another Thai place a little further away. When we do get someone on the phone, recently they can be quite rude. When I gave my phone number to the employee a few weeks ago, she said in an annoyed tone "you're gonna have to speak slower, it's very busy here and I can't hear you." Not the way to speak to customers! (How about "I'm sorry, could you please repeat that?"). This is all very recent - take-out service used to be much better. I attempted to email all this to a manager at Sushi Thai, but, their website does not seem to list any email addresses. It's a shame, because we live so close and have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but with recent experience, they will definitely not be our first choice if we order from them at all. - 1232972Jan 5, 2024
When I want a good meal that's close to home! This is my local fav. The staff are friendly and inviting. The food is 10/10 always fresh and made to order. the ambiance is 10/10. Makes you feel Like you you stepped into a destination far away from Home! This is a 10/10. Grab a seat and enjoy. They also serve Thai tea...very delicious!

Some of the best sushi I've had in Raleigh. I've been to a lot of sushi places, almost all of them. This one always comes out on top. Service is always super nice, it is super clean, and the menu is amazing. They have options for everyone and the size of them is great. It's also BOGO which is a huge plus. This is by far your best option if you want some classic rolls.

Overall it's okay. We came on weekend and ordered the appetizer right after we got sat, it just took longer than I expected for an appetizer. I ordered beef bulgogi for my main dish and tasted pretty good, the sauce somehow too thick for me. My boyfriend got rolls with the shrimp tempura and eel on top, he said it was good. I also ordered a roll with the salmon on top and asked for "cooked" salmon on top cause he couldn't eat raw. But it just came out seared. Seemed they didn't care much of customer request.

Stumbled upon this place after running around. What a great first impression! The service was very good but the star of this place is the sushi. How can you not enjoy a spot that does BOGO daily.
We did two orders or sushi, one Pad Thai with shrimp and Pan Fried Dumplings. All delicious. Our server was pleasant, engaging, and kept filling our glasses.
A must if you're in this area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Judy G.NC, NC022Feb 14, 2024
For starters we came an hour before close on Valentine's Day with only a 15 minute wait and they offered us bar seating so we could get seated as fast as possible which we gladly took to watch the sushi being made! The chef without asking made each of our Sushi rolls like this sooo thoughtful and amazing also they do BOGO sushi so we got 4 rolls for the price of 2 and omg they were delicious!! Amazing food amazing experience amazing place! Will definitely return

Hey guys - have you changed the traditional recipe for the iconic chicken fried rice? Ordered some last night and it was bland cooked rice, onions, a few eggs, chicken, tomatoes, and cucumbers (???). Who serves cucumbers and tomatoes with its chicken friend rice? Real chicken friend rice has carrots, scallions, soy sauce, and more. All those other items give it flavor. Yours is bland, boring, and tasteless. What Sushi Thai used to make was really good. But no longer. What changed?

Cannot recommend Sushi Thai enough! Love this little restaurant and the remodel looks wonderful!
This is a wonderful place to stop in and grab some amazing sushi! Flavorful rolls, BOGO, and great options. Can't really ask for more!
The Wasabi roll and crunchy roll is two of my favorites! Surprisingly the Wasabi roll is not as slicy as you would think. It cream sauce on top is heavenly ans the flavor is incredible.
I always love stopping in here and will definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1
