I have been frequenting Sushi Park for a while and can't explain why it took so long to write a review because I love this place! The fish tastes so fresh and the cooked food is consistently delicious. Their menu has all the standard rolls but also some very unique items like the Maguro Fever roll or the "Glenview" that keep me going back.
Service is always friendly. It's a small restaurant so they check in frequently but never overbearing. :)
Parking can be tough because the restaurant is located in the heart of Glenview on Park Blvd but usually can find a spot within a block or two.

This place is just okay. The servers were really nice but the food is very meh.

There's nothing special in particular that makes this place stand out but they do have a lot of options. Maybe too many options that sound the same? And they also have a lot of fried options and that just isn't my style.

We ordered 3 rolls and miso soup. We ordered the UFO, Fire cracker ball and Pink Lady. Again, very disappointed. The fire cracker ball was very very fried and you couldn't even enjoy it because of all the oil. There wasn't much fish inside and you could just taste the sauce and the oil and it was just gross.

The pink lady was super refreshing but again nothing special. It just had soy paper as wrapping so it was a cute pink color. And the UFO had fresh scallops on top but other that that it was another fried sushi roll.

Again the servers are really sweet which is the only thing really saving this review. Honestly, there are so many other sushi places in Oakland and this place isn't worth it unless you live near by.

Love this neighborhood sushi spot. It's about a 5 minute drive from my house, so whenever I'm craving sushi, I'll order takeout from here.

I never have any issues with reaching the restaurant on the phone, and my order is usually ready within 15-20 minutes. I usually get uni nigiri, unagi don, maguro fever,  spicy geisha, or 7 piece salmon nigiri. The fish is really fresh and not super drenched in sauce like some places.

This place is definitely worth a visit!

I've grown picky with age, and I damned well should be! I've earned and learned that it's worth experiencing the best. So, it was a happy surprise to happen to find this Bay Area sushi gem tucked away in the Oakland Hills. I did work not too far away from this place and now kick myself for not being more open to trying local spots sooner! Sushi Park sushi is superb and something that should be treasured for the attention to detail and care put into crafting their rolls.

I cannot currently speak to their hot food selections because I am always so blown away with their sushi, I haven't had the opportunity to try anything else. Each roll has a unique and delicious feature that makes it something you cannot get anywhere else. My mouth waters as I think about how to describe each roll.

My favorites are Joy, Maguro Fever, and Paradise. I do have to point out that I did try some of the more simple and traditional sushi items and was not as pleased with those as I am with these specialty rolls. I've figured out, just like anything/one else, that nowhere is perfect. There are certain things this place does that outweighs the things that are not phenomenal. I do agree with some of the other lower scores that there are some things that are bland... but don't order those things here! Order their specialty rolls because you can't get the quality and flavor combinations anywhere else in the bay! I have never been let down with their specialty rolls and their staff have always been so welcoming and accommodating. My sister is practically a member of the staff she is there so often getting her weekly sushi fix. It's good, but don't go and kill it like my sister does.

What a gem off the hidden path of countless Oakland dining temptations; how's a girl to ever choose?! Yelp to the rescue. The fam and I finished an exquisite hike in Redwood regional leaving us all famished and needing some raw fish flesh to renew our energy. We were on our way to my previous Sushi bae, Coach Sushi, but serendipitously passed Sushi Park, quickly turned to the Yelp fam for validity, and with the Yelp stamp of yumproval we went in.

The spot is cute, warm and beautiful Japanese decor, and very narrow. We asked for a table for 2 adults and 2 small children and the server attending us looked a bit horrified. She sat us in the corner with little room and I prepared for the worst. Then the server came with cute kiddy plates and cups and was really accommodating and sweet to the kids. As the restaurant started to fill up you could see they were actually quite kid friendly and a definite local favorite.

I ordered the tofu dashi for the kids and my husband and I split two rolls; I think one was the bay and the other I can't remember but honestly they were both so fresh and exquisite that I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. The flavors were simple but unique and exciting; something a feel is difficult for sushi which usually doesn't vary in anything other than quality. I begrudgingly finished the tofu dashi and that too was absolute perfection; light crispy Panko crunch on the outside, delightful silky tofu inside. I love eating with people who can't finish their food!

After the meal the server gave complimentary ice cream to the kids and sealed the whole dang deal. I can't wait to make Sushi Park our regular post hike stop.

We just love this little place. We usually come for lunch on a weekend and the service and food is always outstanding. I think have ordered almost everything in the menu and everything is yummy, fresh and well prepared. We always get the same server for lunch. I don't know her name but she is great. So charming and very attentive. We love the geisha, mount fuji and samurai rolls among other dishes. Thumbs up for you guys. Keep the good work.

This wonderful little restaurant in Oakland's Glenview neighborhood continues to provide exceptional sushi and other Japanese inspired food.

We have been coming here for take-out since it is more convenient for us.  The order is always ready, well packaged and always with friendly service.

The sushi is fresh and much better than most local places. There are friends who actually come here from San Francisco specifically for the quality of the sushi.  We also usually get the pot stickers and salad, both equally good.

This time besides the wonderful ice cream they also gave us a dessert of round ice cream balls wrapped with a spongy wrap. Very good.

This place is worth a visit and over the years is consistently good.

Tried this place out on our search for our Japanese spot in Oakland.  It's located in a quiet neighborhood away from all the cars and busy streets.  I should've  expected less based on the menu but I didn't want to rule them out before giving them a try.  All I can say is don't come expecting authentic Japanese food here.

It's a small restaurant with an option for seating right in front of the chefs making sushi.  Seating is pretty cozy and the staff is welcoming.

Chicken yakitori- don't even try this!  It was grilled teriyaki chicken slices cut up and skewered with peppers.  Not even close to what a true yakitori is.  Shame they even serve this.

crispy spicy hamachi- nice fried rice texture, different from the typical rolls

sashimi starter served with miso soup, salad &b rice- 10 small pieces which included maguro, salmon, hamachi, white tuna, not tasty or fresh in my opinion

If you're looking for american bento box meal, this place will hit the mark.  However if you're looking for the hearty Japanese meal this isn't the place to dine at.

Tiny portions for more money than significantly better places. First and last time I'll go here. Service was good but for this price I'd expect at least decent fish/portions. I will say, the tuna nigiri, although incredibly overpriced, was very tasty.

It's a great place if you're a family with small kids. Not ideal for a date night. Great service, subpar food. Tough parking. Even though the service is great, and the prices, I'm not sure it's enough to save this place (at least for us).

We've been back a bunch of times, and every time we go is just as wonderful as the last. The staff is just so so sweet. I mean, EVERYONE loves them. Last time we were here, I saw two kiddos run in  and go to hug all of the waitresses. So sweet! The food is always great, the service is always spot on... This is for sure the best neighborhood sushi spot!

We were looking for a convenient bite.. we got convenience...

Upon entry, some dusty and dated decor -- whatever..

Handed some literally threadbare menus - falling apart at more than the seams --- weird, considering how easy it is to print and laminate menus these days

Severs wearing parkas in the restaurant on a cold rainy night -  odd.  But it was cold in the place.  Again quaint (or cheap?)

But you can't judge a restaurant by its menu cover... or decor... I guess

So we ordered what we usually order for the kids - Nabeyaki Udon and Tonkatsu dinner.  For us, some veggie rolls, salmon skin hand roll, and assorted fish rolls, as well as some Nigiri... oh and Agedashi Tofu, which we get everywhere as a gauge of quality.

I was surprised when my son noted, "This miso soup tastes... different."  He's usually not so critical of any food item.  My wife's hamachi avocado roll looked a little gray, a little more rice than most places.  There was a "veggie veggie" roll that was unique and good.  My daughter enjoyed her Nabeyaki udon.  I'm glad there were some positives...

    1. The uni nigiri was perhaps freezer burned - green-gray rather than that nice bright orange.  Smell not that nice coconut - evocative, but of something I couldn't quite place.  Imbibing it ended up being a mistake.  Nowhere to spit it out, as both texture and flavor were more evocative of garbage (sorry, but true).

    2. The hamachi nigiri was like the menu - threadbare.  2 unhealthy and frayed looking pieces.  Smelled like old fish with that ammonia undertone - tasted like it too.  Had to send it back with the uni.

    3. Agedashi tofu - if they were trying to copy chicken nuggets, then I get it.  Small pieces, critically hard on the edges, with a broth served on the side, and clumps of bonito flakes tossed on as an afterthought.   It should have been larger pillows, gently fried to crispy but not dessicated, served in a nice puddle of broth and topped proudly with shaved bonito flakes, as well as a bit of ground radish.

    4.  Tonkatsu - not in Panko, as my son noted, and maybe a bit underdone.  Once again, kind of like a McNugget texture for this pork Tonkatsu - and no shredded cabbage!  (These were my 11 year old's observations)

    5. Salmon skin hand roll - literally some salmon skin and rice wrapped in seaweed.  Maybe I've been spoiled all these years.  Most places, like Itaba, have nice cut sheets of salmon skin with bits of salmon still attached, wrapped with rice, daikon sprouts or shavings, avocado, and roe.

So there it is.  We were looking for a convenient bite near some errands we were running after school and work.  It was fast and convenient I guess.  But quality, especially for the price (no refund on the inedible nigiri order), was lacking.

I am surprised, especially considering all the high reviews.  I looked past the look of the place, assuming it was quaint, since they probably were so focused on the food quality etc.  Maybe we're spoiled.  We live in the Bay Area, with so many great Japanese and Asian cuisine styles available.  We have access to Japan -- considering that my wife is from Japan, perhaps we are just really spoiled and expecting far too much... but as I stated, there are sooo many great places in the Bay Area, I'm afraid that this place either had a bad night, or has gotten along by feeding unsuspecting locals a really narrow repertoire of simple rolls and specialties that they do well (so we ordered wrong for the place then).  All in all, we won't be back, and I recommend that you wait until they turn things around before you pay them a visit.

I appreciate that negative reviews can impact a severe economic cost.  I apologize for this review, but the safety of consuming sushi of such low quality is a genuine concern.

A cute neighborhood sushi spot with good food and amazing service. We showed up with our 7-month-old who is just starting to eat solid food. The staff quickly set us up with a high chair. Our server was really sweet and was playing with our baby. When she brought out our miso soup she had put extra tofu in mine so that I could share it with my baby.

We got the Spicy Geisha, Passion, and Veggie Veggie rolls.

Spicy Geisha - delicious balance of crunch and sweet/ umami.

Passion - good, but the asparagus is a little over powering

Veggie Veggie - turned out to be my favorite roll! The tempura mushroom created a pleasant hearty texture.

3 rolls, 2 miso soups, and 1 large Asahi to share: $50

I love this sushi bar. Andy is the sushi chef and Ivy his wife is the hostess. They are the warmest, most generous folks you will ever meet! The signature sushi dishes are a work of art! They are inventive, delis, and so pretty that you almost don't want to eat them but you do! Heaven!

Cute neighborhood place but the sashimi was not the highest quality and fried mackerel was overcooked, agedashi tofu was not my favorite.  Service was nice, but could have been more attentive and thoughtful. Sadly was not a standout and we are still looking for solidly good sushi places in Oakland.

Toddler friendly and the little one got some ice cream, so she was very happy about it!

Small, mediocre sushi. Ordered two rainbow rolls, hamachi sashimi and a couple of handrolls. The spicy tuna handroll had nothing on it but tuna, very bland, in fact they were all bland and not very well put together. My spouse's scallop handroll was also nothing but the scallops and fell apart immediately. The rainbow rolls were tiny and dry.
That said, the folks were all nice and the service was good, but the food just didn't cut it.
In my opinion, they are not trained sushi chefs, just someone who bought a turnkey business.

Went with a couple of friends tonight.  One ordered chicken teriyaki for $15 and she got a plate full of meat.  Maybe 25 strips.  so much, she took some home.  I ordered salmon teriyaki and got two thin little pieces, hardly two ounces and it cost me $19.  I felt cheated.  I paid more and got less.  That said, the California Roll was tasty.

Pretty good sushi place, rolls and bentos. I got a Fuji Mountain: shrimp tempura, avocado, crab and fish roe on top, garnished with teriyaki sauce. Really good! Also got unagi nigiri, which was ok, not spectacular. (A good char and some green onion can put unagi over the top)  Chefs and wait staff are Cantonese if "authenticity" matters to you, but my waitress was really nice and I don't mind if my sushi is prepped by a non-Japanese chef.

My favorite sushi spot in Oakland. Excellent service, excellent food, good atmosphere. The rolls aren't too big (like most places around here). They have really creative options and they're literally all delicious. If you're looking for high-end Japanese, this is not the spot. But it's far better than Kansai or Judoku and all of those other nasty places.
