their omakase is 45 for 9 pieces of sushi and one hand roll- a great deal
I thought some of the pieces had a bit too much soy sauce, but still a great overall experience.
it seems to be a huge neighborhood spot with many families including children.
when we arrived, only one or two tables had customers, yet I was given a crazed look for daring to come without a reservation. very awkward.
I gladly took the seat they were willing to give me, but 20 minutes later, an older couple flat out left when told they would have to sit at a specific table.
their kitchen menu only contains maybe 5 items, so would really only come for sushi.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 21, 2024Seated via Yelp Reservations
Excellent sushi. This is where I bring non sushi people to appreciate and love sushi for their first time. No soy sauce dipping here. You will eat it the way it is prepared by the chefs and since the fish is so exquisite, you don't need to add soy sauce or anything else. The service is respectful and attentive. The ambiance is a bit cold and really not something to even care about since the fish becomes the main attraction. 5pm on a Thursday evening felt like it was babysitting hour at the sushi joint. Park slope parents living in their bubble allowing their kids to be loud and obnoxious while others are dining around them. I can't blame the restaurant but parents need to take responsibility. No homework, coloring books, or crayons should be on a sushi restaurants table. Besides that... everything was excellent!! And thank you for not participating in the 4% credit card fee scam. Many customers appreciate that!!

TLDR - good Omakase but not filling enough for the price
Came here Saturday night on a date. We originally had a 5pm res but we're running late, and the restaurant was very accommodating in letting us push back to 5:30 (and we were still 10 min late). The restaurant is quite small and unassuming, an extended seating area in the back that we were seated at. The tables are pretty close together, enough that I could hear both parties' conversations around us. We started with a miso soup for each of us and a fish appetizer. Both soups were very flavorful, and we loved the fish too. We then ordered the Omakase for $55 and it came with 3 rounds of 3 pieces each + 1 hand roll. The uni and squid really stood out to me. The rest of the sushi was fresh and yummy, but several pieces had too much wasabi for my liking. I was satisfied after the soup, app and 10 pieces, but my partner was still hungry.
Overall decently affordable Omakase spot with good sushi, but maybe not the most romantic date spot.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 10, 2023
Some of the better sushi I have had in my life. The experience of eating here was great - the waiters were very attentive, they explained the dishes they brought out, they made sake recommendations. They went out of their way to make you feel like you were having a fine dining experience. And the quality of the fish and the rolls was fine dining level!
The restaurant is rather small, and actually doesn't look that fancy in terms of the vibe. It is a more casual atmosphere to get a top notch meal.
I will say - it is VERY expensive. Whenever a menu has items on it where the price is variable...or the price isn't listed...that's how you know you better brace your wallet. I tried to order basically the cheapest thing on the menu and still came away with a pretty hefty bill.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 14, 2023
Came here for dinner. Got seated right away. I didn't have reservations but was given a table to sit at. Restaurant was pretty empty when I came.
We got the omakase but nothing really stood out to me. I felt very rushed by the waiter who I felt was watching me the whole time waiting for me to finish so he could take our plates away. They also gave very rushed and unclear descriptions of each fish.
The fish did taste fresh but really was nothing outstanding. I have had much better omakase elsewhere. Probably would not come back but was glad I got to try it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Barbara F.Miami, FL1277453May 21, 2023
We planned a special weekend in NYC
We made a reservation for the unlimited chef's Omikase.
Very fresh and delicious.
JK our server and his partner were very helpful and friendly.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kira S.Brooklyn, NY0442Sep 7, 2023Updated review
We ordered the sashimi deluxe and it was appalling - thoughtless leftover slices that is flavorless and bland. They did not even try to put together an interesting platter.
The shrimp tempura is a B at best.
They have one star as I liked the oysters.
Will not be back again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Aug 6, 2019Previous reviewMy first time at this restaurant. I order a sashimi deluxe and gyoza .
The sashimi costs $37, and the slices were fresh, though overpriced for what they serve. The slices were very tiny and the pick of fish was very ordinary/common i.e. I wouldn't pay more than $25 for this type of sashimi platter. I was still hungry after spending $37 and had to then order the gyoza, but the size of each gyoza were tiny and way smaller than the gyoza served in other Japanese restaurants.
This restaurant is way too expensive, even by Manhattan standards.
I left the restaurant still hungry. I won't be back. - Carlos Y.Champaign, IL232529Mar 12, 2023
Came here with family and friends on our NY trip for our first omakase experience. The atmosphere was pleasant but the seating was a bit tight. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating.
We started with the kinoko, gyoza and shrimp tempura appetizers. The mushroom-soy appetizer was the standout of the group. Very tasty and left me wanting more. The gyoza was similar to others I've tried. The shrimp tempura was perfectly made with a nice light batter.
But in the end we were here for the sushi omakase. This came in 4 rounds with 3 pieces the first 3 rounds and and a hand roll to finish it off. The wasabi in the yellow fin tuna roll was a bit strong for me but the other pieces were delicate and tasted great. My standout favorites were the yellowtail, fatty tuna, trout and mackerel. I was very surprised by the Spanish mackerel since I normally find mackerel too fishy but this was really good as well. My least favorite was the uni but this was the first time I had it and it's just not my thing. The fatty tuna roll at the end was a great way to finish the meal.
The sushi presentation was impressive and the freshness of the fish was notable. For a first-time omakase experience, this place comes highly recommended.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 984598676Nov 14, 2022
I came here for my 1st ever omakase and was so impressed!! The sushi was amazing - so fresh and delicious. They seated us at a regular table so we didn't get the "full" experience as I heard that being able to watch the chefs make your sushi is really cool. We got the Sashimi & Sushi Omakase and it came with quite a good amount. I felt perfectly satisfies at the end - not hungry, but not overstuffed. My friend and I also shared the Tori KaraAge for the appetizer which was good but could've used a little more flavor or sauce. Overall, the omakase was great!

Always delicious and so fresh with unique assortment of sushi. And they always have my favorite kind of fish. I don't think the Manhattan branch accepts Apple Pay though.
