I came here as a referral from my dental office for 4 wisdom teeth extraction. After seeing all the high reviews, I took a chance even though I was out of network with insurance. When I called initially, everyone I encountered was pleasant and helpful in getting my quotes and giving me details of the steps of the procedure and insurance details. However, everything took a turn for a terrible experience after the procedure.

On the day of the procedure itself on an early Friday morning, everything went smoothly, I had my consultation and was explained my insurance benefits versus what I would owe for the remainder of the bill. I paid my portion owed at the office, then did my procedure afterwards. Everything went fine, my husband informed the front desk our nearest pharmacy information, and he was told the prescription for antibiotics/pain meds will be sent over and the pharmacy should have it by 12pm. Around 2pm came around with still no notification from my pharmacy if the prescription arrived so I called my Pharmacy and they said they were not sent anything. Online it said my prescription was sent at a further office (over an hour away). My pharmacy was helpful and said they'd call the oral surgeon's office directly to try to get it transferred to my preferred location but they were met with an out of office message/office closure. According to the website office hours, they should've been open until 5pm so I was met with confusion. I gave the office a call myself as well, and I got the same voicemail message. Luckily, the message also had information for "emergencies" direct to the oral surgeon. I left them a voicemail. At this point, mild pain was coming up and I was worried I would be in pain and without antibiotics with the weekend quickly approaching and them being closed weekends. Around 4:30pm I got a call from a different oral surgery office, they said they were informed by this office that I was in need of my medication, and they were quick to help me out. They sent my prescription and I was able to pick it up. I followed healing instructions and luckily had no complications (so far).

Now, this portion now includes issues with customer service and an aggressive call from Meliza. She called me and said she received notice from insurance that the payment from my insurance that was supposed to go to the office, went to me instead. I was confused, because I did receive payment from my insurance but I called my insurance and they assured me this payment was for me as reimbursement and there shouldn't be any further payments outstanding to the office. I told Meliza I was confused but I did call my insurance, and they confirmed the above. Her tone switched to short/aggressive and she immediately began making assumptions. She said "No - They probably said that because you told them you paid everything in full in the office, etc.. So we need your credit card information or a check to the office as it's due now. We gave you the explanation of benefits/receipt for you to review" I let her know, I need to call my insurance to get this figured out because I was told something different and I want to check with them. I was also at work, and did not have any paperwork in front of me as it was all home. I also let her know her tone was accusatory and I didn't appreciate her making assumptions of what she thinks I said to insurance. She did not acknowledge my concern and proceeded to tell me she would email me all the paperwork to review. This phone interaction made me feel extremely uneasy as her approach was aggressive. It did not come out of a place of wanting to get this figured out/explaining to me but just saying "We need the payment now". Shouldn't you take the time to ask questions and try to fully understand the scope of a situation from your patients? Clearly she did not want to take the time out of her day to do so. I was able to get clarification from my insurance (unlike this office) and I have cleared this situation up. I wanted to bring these concerns directly to a manager, but was told they're only available Wednesday/ and Friday Mornings. I will not be coming here again, and strongly suggest that others avoid this place.

I went for implants consultation and met with Dr. Omid Nirvani his was very kind and helpful but unfortunately Dr Omid Nirvani was no longer working there.
I was then seen by Dr. Young Jun who had no clue why I was there and was very rude and then the office manager asked me to come back after lunch @ 2;30. Once I pulled up in the parking lot the office manager said that
Dr. Young Jun had an emergency and to call back for another appt. I had called several times and each time they would ghost me!
They also won't give me my $1000.00 deposit down as well with my dental records that I had paid in cash.

IT'S A VERY HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL DOCTOR ALONG WITH KELLY(OFFICE MANAGER AND MELISSA(FRONT DESK).

MY ADVICE IS GIVE YOUR $$$ TO A DOCTOR AND OFFICE THAT CARES ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS AND NOT ABOUT TAKING MONEY FROM YOU.

The doctor was rude and impatient when I saw him a year ago. Exactly as the other reviews say, he was kind during the consultation, but had a horrible attitude after his office received my payment. When the doctor came into the room on the day of my surgery, he was in a bad mood and did not even acknowledge my presence. He spoke down to the nurse in front of me (she was very sweet and it bothered me that he would be condescending to her in front of a patient). When it came time to give me the anesthetic, he snatched my wrist very aggressively. I pulled away because I did not like being handled like this, and he kept tugging on me. He left me with a bruise. His demeanor really concerned me, so I left before they could do the procedure and found another doctor. It was bizarre since he was so charismatic and friendly during the consultation. I had high hopes for him, so I was shocked to say the least. Luckily they returned my payment after I left.

I didn't want to come on here and mess up their 5 star rating because my original impression was that they were super friendly and amazing. The surgery itself went well and I had no complications. I loved my surgeon, but this review is for the office staff. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that all their kindness was a facade and the way their front staff treats you after they take your money is just atrocious.

I had called various offices that offered wisdom teeth removal so that I could get a quote on the consultation fee. Normally my dental insurance would cover the consultation fee, but I had just recently had a consultation and xray at a different office that I decided not to go with due to cost. My insurance would not cover a second consultation. When I called Surf City, I explained my situation just as I did above and they were super understanding. They told me the price and later called me back to say that they would waive the consultation fee and just use the xray from my first consultation as long as I decided to have surgery the same day as my consultation. Even though this place had less reviews than other places, I needed the fee waived so I was obviously excited and agreed immediately! They took my insurance information that day on the phone so they definitely knew I had insurance and understood my unique situation before offering to waive it.

The day of my surgery comes and they set me up for surgery in the chair. Right before putting me under anesthesia, they ask for my credit card without showing me a breakdown of the charges. Honestly, I trusted them to keep their word and Dr. Nivroni was super nice so I didn't think much of it. After reviewing the charges from my dental insurance, I saw that I was charged for the consultation fee that I was told would be waived. I brought this up nicely in person during my follow up appointment because I thought it was just a mistake they would quickly resolve. However, instead of recognizing that a mistake or even a misunderstanding was made on their end, the lady in the front was very dismissive towards me and wouldn't even look at the insurance document that I was trying to show her. She told me that I was NOT charged and that the paper my insurance sent me was wrong? I was told I would receive a follow up call which I never did.

About 2 months later, I followed up through multiple calls and several text messages about it and received no response. When I was finally able to speak to someone on the phone, they were just extremely rude. Again, without looking at my insurance papers that I had literally sent over to them or listening to my full story, she tried to speak over me and blame that I must have heard them wrong which is honestly just blatantly gaslighting. She said they would never offer waiving the fee to a patient with insurance even though I had explained to her my situation. She never once checked with any other staff members to see if they might've been the one to have waived my fee. They have told me so many conflicting stories. 1) That I was never charged for a consultation fee. 2) That I was charged and that I must have misunderstood because they never said that they would waive my fee. 3) That the charge was actually for something else.

Let's be clear-- there's no way I misunderstood because I was told specifically that to have it waived, I needed to schedule my consultation and surgery on the same day. Otherwise, I was considering other offices and I would've never scheduled a consultation for the same day as my surgery without having met my doctor? I think what really happened is that the person who made this offer to me must have forgot to note on my file that my consultation would be waived and they are trying to pin the blame on me and say I already signed the papers. Even further, they told me they would email me these papers I signed and I even followed up on text, but I never received a copy? They also said I would receive a follow up call from the manager and I never got a call either.

To be honest, it isn't even about the money at this point but the principle. I tried communicating nicely and getting this resolved with them, but for full-grown adults to treat someone as if they're stupid and don't understand rather than looking into the issue internally is just disappointing and unprofessional. I never received any follow ups to any of my calls or messages which just shows how little they care/ take accountability for. Perhaps they saw me as a young girl who doesn't know better so they could easily talk down to and take advantage of, because I certainly hope nobody else is belittled like this. It's a shady business practice to promise patients something to get them to come to your office and not follow through with it. Switch and bait. Do better and be accountable.

I cannot say this enough!! The team here at Surf City Oral & Maxillofacial were amazing from beginning to end. I called over on a Monday requesting for an urgent appt due to me leaving on vacation. Abbie was able to get me in immediately (scheduled me 2 days) for 2 extractions.

The day of the appt, Abbie covered questions and concerns I had. I met with Dr. Niavarani to cover additional questions. He explained everything throughly. I didn't feel pressure with the options that was presented to me and I respect that. He is AMAZING and makes you feel at home!

Natalie (the nurse) definitely made my day easier. Super friendly, explains throughly and also makes you feel at home. I love the atmosphere and music they were jamming to. They had me laughing the whole time prior to knocking out.

From the front staff to the back office staff. Thank you guys! This definitely changed my perspective of how a oral appt should be! I highly recommend this team if you want 110% care and service!

Thank you Dr. Niavarani and your team! I'm so glad I came to your office!

I had my wisdom teeth taken out, and from start to finish from the initial appointment to the follow-up the entire team and surf City took great care of me. Angie at the front desk, Natalie and Kelly along with Dr. Niavarani all made me feel super comfortable the day of the surgery.
      Can't recommend them enough.

Let me start by saying all of the office staff are helpful and friendly the provider is excellent. They all took great care of me. I had a horrible toothache, ended up having to have 3 wisdom teeth removed. Ugh!! Scary, in my mid 40's with diabetes type 1 and heart disease, not the best candidate. The surgeon was knowledgeable and took every precaution due to my conditions and type of meds I am taking. I originally had this procedure scheduled with another place but a month out, this office took me in right away d/t I was in so much pain. I am totally scared of anything dental, not sure why.

He evaluated me in 1st appointment and set my procedure a couple of days later. I was very anxious but they took great care of me. I went in and came out no pain, as I was out, procedure was less than an hour (I think). Pain was later in the evening, which is normal so my husband called after hours to change pain meds. The Dr contacted us immediately changed meds and kept checking on me for the next couple of days. I would definitely recommend this office.

And they are very covid conscious.

      Thank you
