Fellow hobby cooks can rejoice that a Sur La Table now exists between Santa Monica and the 3rd/Fairfax Farmers Market location. Located across from Coffee Bean on 1000 Westwood Blvd in Westwood Village, it's close by to Target or Trader Joe's nearby and a bunch of eateries, and In-n-Out and CoCo (boba). They don't have their own parking but there are plenty of meters.
This store seems slightly smaller than other Sur La Tables but has a good selection of everything. I think it used to be Bebe or some $$$ clothing store.
There is a cooking class area at the back of the store, which seems exciting for those who enjoy that.
I was just a teeny bit disappointed that there were no grand opening deals for those not already on their mailing list. Apparently they sent out coupons for deals and prizes and discounts to loyal spam recipients (i unsubscribed because the spam became excessive)
The sales lady was nice enough to tell me about the coffee machines that I was looking at. I work not far from here and the office needed a new one and so I was happy to see non-traditional yet fun+functional machines that work for a small office that doesn't blow the budget.
Definitely will be spending my gift cards here first if I can before hauling all the way down to Santa Monica next time!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Shevi S.Brentwood, Los Angeles, CA021Dec 4, 2023
I placed an order on line for skillets. They sent me e mail that it is not in stock and maybe they will have it in 10 days. I called to cancel my order, they told me they can't cancel it I need to wait until i get it and than return it at my expenses. Terrible policy.

I had the absolute best class experience with Kimberly. I felt like I was taking a cooking class with my mom, Kimberly was so attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Though I had had some previous cooking experience - specifically in desserts, she was able to guide my friend and I through the 10 skills for the new year class. We made an herb crusted chicken, cheese risotto, salad vinaigrette, and a hazelnut and chocolate flourless torte with caramel sauce. Yum! Kitchen was clean, staff were friendly, food was very good, and Im certainly looking forward to my next class.
I can't recommend these classes enough - in fact I'm signed up for another this month because I had such a good time. You even get discounts for products in store after your class, and a discount for signing up for your next class.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 14, 2019
I would say my boyfriend and I are amateur cooks but Michelle H.'s cooking class, Date Night: From Paris with Love, was perfect for all levels! We were put in groups of 4 people to cook together, 2 couples at each station each. Although I struggled with poaching an egg, I got to try it again and was not made to feel bad about my struggle. I had so much fun using the flame torch to make the creme brûlée. All the food came out perfect and delicious. The mustard on the chicken was so savory, will definitely be using that recipe at home! There were lots of laughs had, great energy all around. After we finished cooking, all the food everyone made was put together and we served ourselves family style.
I made use of the 10% off they gave us at the end of the class to purchase an item in the store. Although the classes are a bit pricey at $85 a person, I think this is a great date experience to treat you and your partner to every once in a while. And you'll go home with some new cooking skills! Bon appetit!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Katherine W.Belmont, CA2921852709May 7, 2019
My friends and I love coming here for cooking classes for the perfect girls night! We've attended 4-5 classes here now and each one has been such a fun and delicious adventure!
The class size varies, we've had anywhere from 3 to 10 students in class. The cooking stations are set up for 3-4 students each. Tip: sign up together if you want to be at the same station, otherwise you may be split up. The instructor usually begins with a quick knife skills lesson, then dives right into the recipes. Each class teaches 3-4 dishes and covers different cooking skills such as dicing, searing, blanching, poaching, reducing, etc. I've always had in interest in cooking, but attending these classes has definitely improved my kitchen skills and made cooking at home even more enjoyable for me!
Each class has a theme, and you're able to see the full menu online before booking. A couple of my favorite dishes have been the roasted chicken with olives, caper and roasted lemons from the "cozy fall dinner" class and the chicken chasseur from the french themed class. I've made both of these dishes on my own at home! And of course, at the end of class, you get to feast on the delicious food you just made and feel like a real chef!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dec 24, 2016
I was looking forward to checking out this location since I found out they were opening one in Westwood. I usually go to the one in the Farmer's Market that I couldn't help but compare the two locations. This location is smaller, and the aisle spaces seem a little tight. I had a 20% off coupon about to expire, but nothing caught my eye. I usually look forward to the clearance section. Since this is a new location, the clearance section didn't have much to choose from.
I've never taken any cooking classes at Sur La Table, but this one seems to have a nice space for it. Located on the corner of Westwood Blvd. and Weyburn Ave., parking may challenging because it is Westwood. It's a not bad location if you're looking for something for your kitchen or a present, but I prefer the one in the Farmer's Market because it has a better selection and space.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Zach B.Valencia, CA2033Jan 5, 2019
LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR COOKING CLASSES!
We loved the cooking class, our teacher was excellent and the food was great. The value however was so disappointing, where we could NEVER recommend the classes at Sur La Table to any of our friends. Never!
Maybe I'm completely ignorant, thinking we would eat at a cooking class... realistically it was a generous "tasting". But I don't think I'm far off to be upset for near $200 dollars! Let me explain...
They called our class a date night and at 85/per person, that's $170 before tax. Pretty steep, but we thought it would be fun so we tried it! What is not fun however... is going out to dinner after your cooking class at 10:00pm because the portions wouldn't fill a toddler. The 4 of us shared a single steak! See the image attached.
We made a 4 course meal, and we left so hungry!! Aside from the value being the worst I've ever heard of, Sur La Table's cooking class structure assigns 4 people to 1 station, and it really doesn't require 4 people to do a single recipe. It takes a lot of the fun and interaction OUT of the class, when half the group has their hands in their pockets, leave with empty stomaches, how can you call that $170 in value?
Sadly, we wanted to like it, the class was fun and it could have been something we encouraged friends to join us -- but the price and portions are a deal breaker. We could never recommend this until something changes. I could not stress more -- DO NOT GO TO SUR LA TABLE. We we really wanted to like the experience but they need to put a cap at 2 people per station, 100%.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 12, 2018
I visited this kitchen supply shop to pass time. They have a great variety of high quality kitchen supply. Nice coffee/Espresso machines where you are invited to try. They also offer a wide range of cooking classes. Might be back for that.

Sur La Table, ("syur lah tahb-leh") translates "on the table". It matters to me how the best recipes, created in my kitchen end up on my table. You too?
Then Sur La Table is the place to find the right baking/cooking tools for the project, time saving gadgets, cutlery, cookware, flatware, linens, accessories, small electrics and more to make a homecook look like a pro. You can even hone your skills with a cooking class in the open kitchen classroom at the back of the store.
Staff here is warm, professional and quickly helped me locate a replacement combination apple corer/slicer*. Mission accomplished, I browsed, found new oven mitts but had to stop shopping as I was on foot and could purchase only what I could carry home. Definitely coming back with the car for mini cast iron serving ware.
Price points are competitive with Williams Sonoma or Culver City's Surfas. Bed Bath & Beyond may save you a few dollars but you won't find the same upscale merchandise mix.
Parking options: meters, private or public lots.
*Apple corer/slicer invented by Robert Buchi patented August 28, 1923. Often touted to be our country's oldest patent.Helpful 28Thanks 0Love this 25Oh no 0 - Carol K.Missouri City, TX7878442May 16, 2019
Knocked off a star solely because this location is not BYOB. Call me an alcoholic all you want but hear me out. Me and my boyfriend did one of their date night steak dinners and this would've paired very well with a glass of wine! Also there will be times you're just standing around watching people do stuff and that would've been more enjoyable with wine.
As you can see this review isn't all about the food since we did technically prepare it ourselves. If you didn't salt your food enough, that's on you haha. So this review is more about the vibe they offered us.
My recommendations:
Go in groups of 4 so you're not cooking with strangers that may want their food prepared differently.
Go to locations that are BYOB
Stay nearby the chef or you'll miss everythingHelpful 7Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
