Another great visit to Sulphur Springs and some things never change:
- Amazing Sandwiches
- Amazing Staff
- Really unique food
- Parking kind of stinks
It is small, maybe 5-6 tables but turnover is quick and most people get food to go. There is a menu, but each time I go, I spend more time looking at the specials. There seems to be a certain flow to the line, almost like an unposted secret, but you will get plenty of help. However, when your turn comes, be ready to order DO NOT FREEZE, but feel free to ask questions. It seems like a frenetic pace, but they will spend the time you need to find what you want.
Note- ALWAYS ORDER SOMETHING INTERESTING AS A SIDE - you will find it rewarding.
But enough, you want to know about the food:
Cuban Sandwich - like it came from Little Havana.
1927 - amazing baked chicken layered with goodness
Roast Beef - several versions to choose, my some loved the French Dip
Roasted Sweet Potato (side) - too good to describe. Maybe delightful? Delectable? Mouth watering kick you in the pants good?
Baked Potato Salad (side) - another fantastic layer of flavors.
Banana Pudding - good but not great
Jack Daniels Bread Pudding - really good, but hope they do not give you a breathalyzer if you go back to work.
Really a solid choice.

Both my son and I had the Rolando which comes with a side. Everything is freshly prepared and each sandwich can be customized. Besides the sides in the deli case you can have Herr's chips (zero trans fat) which are a treat themselves.
It is hard to explain, but the freshest and most delightful sandwiches I have had in a long time. - 23408615Apr 3, 2021
A true testament to the Greatness of Yelp !
I was up in Tampa on bizz and I wanted to get something to eat before heading home. I looked on Yelp and up popped Sulphur Springs Sandwich Shop with 5 Stars. I have to admit that when I pulled up in the parking lot, I was questioning my decision. It's a rough little, corner shopping center, that has seen better days. Buoyed by the great reviews, I decided to give it a shot. Man am I glad I did. I can't wait to go back to try some of the other awesome things on the menu.
I got to the "Cheney Park" hold the slaw with a side of cucumber, tomato & onion salad. Both were outstanding ! The pork was roasted (in house) perfectly and the roll was warm and soft. I'm not sure exactly how they did it but it was wonderful. I don't usually leave a review until I've tried a place 2 or more times but between the strong reviews and my own first time experience, I feel totally comfortable jumping on the band wagon.
In addition to the extensive list of specialty sandwiches there are a number of weekly special sandwiches. I'm hoping to get the Chicken salad melt on my next trip.
I spoke briefly with the owner and I could tell that he was serious about making great food. There are a bunch of comments written on the walls of the place that speak to how much their customers love it. Like I said, I can't wait to get back here. Give it a try. I'm certain you will Love it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 25, 2021
If you have been to Carnegie Deli in NYC and cried when it closed then this is your new favorite sandwich place. I needed up here by chance looking for a place for lunch and literally drove right by because I was looking for a stand alone building. The colorful outside glass draws you to it and you will not be disappointed. The Rueben definitely gives you a NYC vibe and is moist and flavorful. The 'kraut was awesome on the well toasted rye bread, if this had a pound of meat you could die happy!
The turkey salad sandwich was equally as delicious and I don't do white bread often, but I may have to try a grill cheese the next visit because of the bread. This shop is now my sandwich place and it may be a small drive for me but it is worth it without a doubt. The staff was quick and polite. You can watch them operate as a team to bring you something to tell your friends about. I have had "sammiches" all over the country Ann's this is truly worthy of being among the best. And for the record I I had to take a nap afterwardsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 4, 2021
This place is incredible...and the number of people going there seem to agree. I had just told the incredibly helpful and cheerful lady at the front counter that this was my first time that I heard "you are going to love whatever you order" from one of their long time patrons who was waiting for his order.
So they are basically a sandwich place, with soooooooo many varieties that it is difficult to pick one. So already looking forward to returning....I asked the lady what she recommended and their two most popular are the Ruben and the Cuban. So I went with the former.
You get to pick from about 15 different types of salads or bag of chips. I meant to take a picture of the salads because everyone if them looked fantastic. I went with potato salad, which was PERFECT! I will say it is a bit on the small size, so don't expect more than about 3 scoops with your fork.
Now for the grand sandwich. OMG, so good. Everthing from the soft delicious marble rye bread to the crumbly corn beef with perfectly melted Swiss cheese in just the right amount. Highly recommended.
This place is one of my new go-to locations anytime you are driving down I-4 near the Lowry Park Zoo.
They have tables inside, but because they are so busy, you might be prepared to order to-go and visit the nearby Lowry Park if the weather is good. It is right on the Hillsborough River.
Can't wait to go back (next week!?!?) and explore the menu with something equally yummy. They even have non-menu items posted by the front counter with everyone of those sounding incredible. Hats off to the chef who is making the sandwich recipes because you are doing a fine job.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Gator. I remember you guys from yesterday. The “cheery lady” at the counter is me :). My husband is the creative recipe guy for most all the recipes. Very little input from me in that department. LOL. I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed everything and look forward to seeing you again soon. Have a great weekend in this beautiful state that we are so lucky to live in!! Cheers

This review is wayyyy later than planned, but better late than never.... This place is the bomb.com!!!! I came here with a coworker for on a quick lunch break and had no idea what to order. Luckily for us, the people behind the counter were SOOOO kind, patient and helpful. they gave us so many recommendations based on what we wanted.
It was still so hard to decide because they had so many sandwiches that looked fire. We ended up splitting a bird street sandwich and one other than I can't remember sadly. They were both phenomenal though! We also both got the pesto pasta salad on the side, which was INSANELY fresh and delicious. We absolutely loved it and are dying to come back here!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Rocio L.Tampa, FL1015735Jan 7, 2022
Hands down, one of the best sandwich shops I have ever tried. Everything I tried was delicious. My mom and I ordered the springs theater sandwich and the beet and goat cheese salad. They came with two sides, pasta salads :). Both were really good. The bow tie pasta might have been a little more delicious. Okay, it definitely was more delicious. The sandwich was hot and every bite was perfect.
The service was also superior. Excellent customer service. Acknowledged from the moment I walked in.
Check this place out once or even more than once, you won't regret it, so many options.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 21, 2020
After moving to Seminole heights I quickly started developing a long list of places I wanted to try out. Sulphur Springs Sandwich Shop has been at the top of that list for a little while now. I finally headed out to try it and I definitely wasn't disappointed! The outside windows art is so much fun and then the inside is like one big visitors book with dollar bills hanging from the ceiling! The staff is a very friendly group of people.
All of the sandwiches were so unique it was hard to pick just one but I decided on the ham-a-Tampa and it was absolutely delicious I love when a sandwich is both sweet and savory. I got the potato salad as a side. It was absolutely delicious I only wish that you got a bigger portion of it considering it's came in a 4oz container.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 306322285Jan 21, 2021
The writing was clearly on the wall about how great the place is, I still can't believe I've never heard of them. They have been open for a while now. These sandwiches are bomb dot com they were so good.
I had the French dip sandwich and it was brt yummy and portion was bigger than i can eat and had some left overs.
It's a small place and they close early so get there early plus it can get crowed.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 352316435906Jul 19, 2019
Just add me to the list of people giving this place 5 stars, because it is absolutely amazing.
When I pulled up, I was a bit concerned. There was no parking in the tiny lot out front and the place behind and to the side all had towing signs. Maybe I could have parked at neighboring businesses, but I didn't want to risk it. I parked at the Bealls Outlet across the street and played frogger to get across.
Once inside, I was also a bit worried because it is pretty small. I grabbed the last tiny table and waited for Sarah S. to arrive. Don't worry, I think it was a fluke that there were so many people because it seems it was one group that took up the entire restaurant. Nobody was ever waiting on a table and once they left it was empty. This is more of a grab and go place.
I got the Ahi Tuna Bowl and tried the pesto pasta side, orzo side, and the fruit and marshmallow side. I have no idea what any of their actual names are. Sarah S. got the Trifecta sandwich.
Food comes out pretty fast. First impression was wow was the Trifecta huge! Sarah ended up taking half of it home. My Ahi Tuna Bowl was a great portion too. It was absolutely delicious. This felt like something I would get at a trendy restaurant, not this tiny sandwich shop. The sriracha mayo added a great flavor without being too spicy. I loved the pesto pasta. I wish I got more of it, I ended up eating more than my fair share. The other two sides were great as well.
Overall, I can see why this place has a five star overall rating. It's just freaking delicious. I'm lucky I don't live closer or else I'd be here constantly.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Nov 9, 2021
Awesome customer service and pretty good sandwiches. So upon walking in I was greeted by the staff who all seemed to be having a good time which to me is a plus. I like having my food made by happy people haha. So I ordered a dip in the springs which is basically roast beef provolone with beef au jus for dipping. I thought it was pretty good but I think I'd opt for a more complex sandwich since the flavors in this were so and so. Till next time friends :)
