Streamline is a new café in San Francisco's Outer Parkside neighborhood located just two blocks from Ocean Beach on the L Taraval line. We are a family owned business with a neighborhood business partner. All of us come from an arts & entertainment background so the promotion of art is central to our existence. We have created a warm, inviting environment where locals and visitors can enjoy a great cup of coffee or espresso and enjoy healthy, fulfilling food.…

Friendly beach neighborhood café that sits just where the L-Taraval streetcar reaches the beach, just a couple of blocks from the ocean. Great panini, selection of drinks. Didn't try their coffee having had an extra already that day, but I did smell that yummy coffee fragrance. I'll be back for more.

10/8/2017Previous reviewFriendly beach neighborhood café that sits just where the L-Taraval streetcar reaches the beach, just a couple of blocks from the ocean. I live about three blocks away from it and mourn the lack of good food in our beach community here at the end of the world. Great panini, selection of drinks. And their homemade cookies are to die for. We need a new breakfast place, if they could just expand their menu to egg brunches, maybe even just on weekends, I'd be ecstatic. At the place across the street from Streamline, brunch has become inedible. Didn't try their coffee having had an extra already that day, but I did smell that yummy coffee fragrance. I'll be back for more. Especially, if you serve brunch....;)

2/24/2019This is a neighborhood joint that I've enjoyed since they opened. There have been a few menu updates since their opening... good updates. While the original food was good, I think the current options are more sensible. I brought my husband in some time last year and he did not see anything that appealed to him. Last week, we came in for his birthday breakfast. He enjoyed the two egg breakfast (two eggs, two bacon, hash browns, toast). I had the same, but with sausage. The hash browns had a spicy kick to it. Not bad, but I prefer it without the spice.
I've come in here alone and with friends... for coffee, for wine, for pastries. The coffee is fine. The pastries are good. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is great for those of us with dogs who wanna hang out in the 'hood. Great spot when it's a sunny day.
Simple, solid menu. Price is a little high, but nothing out of the ordinary for San Francisco. Great addition to the few local businesses at the end of beachtown Taraval. - Hoa N.Minneapolis, MN

First time here with my friend. Her friend had some photography art installations here from a show and was going to be taking it down so we went to meet up with him and check out his work.
The cafe is small and cozy. There's seating in the front and in the back room. It's seat yourself wherever you could find a table kind of vibe here.
They have their liquor license and so you could enjoy a refreshing beer on tap or a mimosa at your liking. They have so many things that read good on the menu but we couldn't order everything so we decided on the avocado toast and their eggs scrambler of the day. I've not had my avocado toast with a poached egg and greens on it before so it was an acquire taste for sure for me. It lack taste and needed salt and pepper. The scrambler was delicious with sausages and mushrooms. Very flavorful with the right amount seasoning and the eggs were cooked to perfection. That was my favorite.
We got to meet the owner and chatted with him for a bit so that was cool. My friend's friend knows the owner and so he gets a great discount for everything. It's a nice place to hangout and do homework or visit with a friend as the atmosphere is very lax and you don't feel like to have to be rushing to finish your food or drink. So that was a pleasant surprise. It's located near one of colleges so it's nice that they don't have a limit on how long you stay.
Would go back and hopefully they will recover from the fire and continue to be open. - MaryFrances A.Chandler, AZ6 friends19 reviews5 photos
3/4/2019First time here! Sunday around 1pm. Walked up to counter, ordered an Iced latte and drip coffee. Both were delicious. He: ordered the frittata (I think it was ham and cheese? Not too sure) but he loved it and took some home for the next day's breakfast. I had the breakfast sandwich with bacon and avocado....with a touch of hot sauce added it was the perfect breakfast sandwich! I will most def order that again! Staff was nice, everyone working hard. Seating was a tad difficult to find at first but within 5 mins or so, we had a place to sit and we enjoyed our brunch.
Some peeps had laptops out, which I know is the norm anywhere with a WiFi connection...but be mindful that there isn't much seating....so if you are nursing that cup of coffee, tea or even water just be considerate that there are people who do want to sit down and enjoy a meal ;)
Other than that we will be back again! - Mona L.San Francisco, CA

Super airy and lots of indoor seating. It gets busy, but you can call ahead a reserve a table, the nook by the bathrooms is great for working on your laptop but is very popular, full when I showed up at 1:45 on a Friday. I saw people walk in and order, and take their drinks directly to this area, look around, realize the laptop gang was cemented to their seats, and walk back out and struggle to find a place elsewhere to sit just as I did. It was a sunny day and the outdoor seating would have been fine but it's toooo bright and breezy, so some umbrellas or an awning woulda been nice out there.
Overall great experience, next time I will show up earlier to score a better seat and try something different from the menu. Prices are average. - Florencia A.Ingleside, San Francisco, CA0 friends11 reviews11 photos
3/16/2019Just ok food.
Overpriced.
Expect to wait for at least 28 minutes for your sandwich.
They are the clear example of location location location.
The only good (excellent!) thing here was their almond milk latte, that's why I give them 3 stars.

3/21/2019Streamline cafe is now closed as of March 18, 2019, according to the signs on the cafe door.
It's a shame because Streamline was such a lovely cafe. I really appreciated the service they brought to the neighborhood. It was a great place to grab brunch, a beautiful, airy space to where I could work on my laptop, have a cup of coffee with a friend, or see interesting art work from local artists. I went to an event here with our local district supervisor and there was such a great community atmosphere, and it was easy to recognize Streamline's role in helping add some vibrancy back to lower Taraval. People were coming in off the street to comment on how much Taraval was turning around, a big part from places like Streamline investing in the area.
I will miss Streamline. I wish the owners and workers the best of luck, and thank them for their part in making lower Taraval a more thriving community space.

Inconsistent business hours, unfriendly staff.
Mediocre drinks for a steep price; overpriced food.
Not ideal for studying anymore given hours change and ridiculously small tables.
5/10/2017Previous reviewA new and modern cafe near the beach!
It's only a block from my house and I anticipate returning back many more times as a college student.
1) First Impression
I was a regular at the previous two businesses which Streamline replaced, but they really do have the best interior design and decoration in comparison to the prior cafes.
Streamline is extremely clean and the art exhibit next door really adds a classy vibe to the cafe. There was nobody in line, but the peak hours tend to fluctuate because many people are still finding out about this place.
2) Wait Time
It didn't take very long to receive my order during each of my visits.
Roughly about 5 minutes or less, unless you order a food item that requires preparation.
However, I did notice during my hours (studying) at the cafe, the line can move quite slowly during the mid-day rush of three or more people in line. Nevertheless, I assume these are obviously first-timers who are taking a longer time observing the menu, which probably won't be too much of a problem later on.
3) Food & Drinks
Disclaimer: I do not particularly LOVE baked goods and I believe that coffee is extremely subjective based upon your experiences, so my judgment of both will be quite general.
If you're planning on relaxing the cafe for a while and getting some things done, I'd definitely recommend pairing a scone or muffin with your drink.
I also did not try all these items at once, since I'll be periodically adding my opinion of different items throughout the upcoming years.
a. Blueberry Lemon Scone
I ordered this a couple hours after opening time so I believe it would have been better fresh out of the oven. It was definitely good and a bit crisp, but nothing necessarily extremely noteworthy. Regardless, a great match with the mocha, latte, coffee... pretty much anything.
b. Mocha
This is currently my favorite drink so far at Streamline, especially due to the fact that I tend to like sweet, caffeinated beverages.
The sugar was not overpowering and it did not have a watered down flavor.
The latte art, which was a heart, also added a spark to the visual appeal of the drink.
As seen in the pictures, the large hot drinks usually come in a decently sized ceramic mug.
c. Macchiato
I don't usually order Macchiatos anywhere, but I decided to try this at Streamline.
If you love the flavor of coffee, then this is the way to go.
If you're trying to recover from 4 hours of sleep, then this is the way to go.
It was smaller than I thought; just a bit larger than a shot glass.
As previously mentioned, I prefer sweet beverages, so I was not the biggest fan of this drink and will probably resort back to the Mocha.
d. Latte
The latte was also good too and came promptly just like the other drinks. Pretty much as long as it doesn't have a watered down flavor, then I'll be satisfied. I'm still getting used to the differences between coffee beverages, but I still prefer the mocha because of its sweetness. The latte art consisted of a leaf, which is once again great for visual appearance.
4) Service
I was greeted quite immediately when I walked up to the counter by the cashier and (assuming) owner near the back. The scone was given to me immediately on a glass plate, and the cashier/barista told me she would be able to bring the drink to my table.
Since this place is a cafe, I can't expect them to consistently check on me when I am trying to do work, so there isn't necessarily a problem with that.
It's great to see one of the workers circling around, consistently wiping down tables even though there may not be too many customers.
5) Pricing
I do not have any real problems with regarding the different prices of the items.
All the drinks seem decently and competitively priced (~3-5) from what I've encountered.
If anything, the brunch/breakfast items might be a bit on the higher-end. (~12+)
Conclusion + Keep in Mind:
- There is a single restroom is well-kept and cleaned, with a modern touch to it.
- The wifi is faster than the one at my own home, so I'd recommend this cafe for studying.
- Parking will be a problem depending on the time of day, especially since this is on a relatively major intersection.
Sure, some reviews express their frustrations with the service or business hours, but considering that this is an extremely new business, I believe they are doing quite well.
Don't expect to be overwhelmed with spectacular, outrageously delicious coffee or baked items, but you won't be disappointed either in this cozy cafe with an interesting art display.Read more

3/16/2019I ordered the eggs breakfast. Simple meal, two eggs over easy, hash browns and bacon. It took 30 minutes for my gf and I to get our food. The food was ok. To wait that long for eggs and bacon is lunacy :)
Point is, go somewhere else - Get into the city enjoy SF

10/12/2018This place was great for breakfast, especially on such a nice and sunny day. There's the option of either indoor or outdoor seating which is nice.
Ordered the avocado toast. It had a poached egg on top. Very nice and creamy. And the breakfast sandwich with sausage and avocado. Definitely the highlight of breakfast. They had this super crispy, flakey bread. Yum.
Another plus is their few beers on draft--if you're looking to jumpstart your morning! - Jason L.Berkeley, CA
9/4/2018This was one of the few places I sauntered in without the aid of Yelp. My coffee snobbery is less pretentious and more aspiring, but I want to get to that level. The coffee was solid, but what I really enjoyed was the breakfast food. I got the basic breakfast plate and to be honest, was a bit hesitant to drop $13 for it, but it was really good. The bacon was nice and crispy (and meaty), and was definitely a good choice. You'l be surprised just how many places can screw up at basic breakfast plate.
My friend got an avocado toast, and you can just the quality of said toast by its aesthetic quality. And my friend took great measures (like squatting on the chair) to make sure that the world was privy to the avocado toast. Also it came with a poached egg, which, is a game changer in the toast game. - Bella B.San Francisco, CA
1/12/2018Updated reviewAfter two additional visits here where one of them involved my latte totally being forgotten and the server being annoyed that he had to make me one even though I paid for it; and then the second one with me having a HAIR inside one of my sandwiches I was fed up.
The manager agreed to remove the cost for the one sandwich from my tab when I told her I wouldn't return, but this is just gross. And as you'll see in another one of my updated reviews on a local business (which I really love supporting) hair in your food seems to be happening a lot lately. So gross.
Here is a tip for managers - MAKE YOUR STAFF WEAR HAIRNETS. It's not a cure all but man it would cut down on the angry grossed out customers who spend $$ per meal on your food.
2 stars only because the manager genuinely seemed concerned.
9/3/2017Previous reviewI walked in and was greeted by staff. Once I said I wanted to look over the menu they seemed a bit put off. I decided not to order that day.
Came back another time and wanted a glass of wine. $9 for a glass of wine. Meh. It was mediocre wine too but the outdoor seating is a nice touch. I am not too fond of the interior.
Most locals I know agree and stated they are overall overpriced. I looked them up on IG and seen some of their practices which I can guess warrants their pricing so I'm hopeful that this place can produce a decent meal for myself and guest(s) at another time. For now 3 stars.Read more

After a quick snack nearby, I was in need of coffee but didn't want to do Starbucks. I wanted something local and has a cool neighborhood vibe. Yelp directed me here since I was only 5 minutes away.
Streamline is located on the corner of Taraval & 46th Ave. The interior is pretty spcaious for a neighborhood coffee house, or maybe because it was nearly empty.
All I needed was a coffee to go, so when I walked in, I asked " Is your drip coffee strong?" She answered, "Yes!" without hesitation. Done! Then we chatted briefly about coffee. She told me their beans were roasted in a facility in Berkeley, and also told me about Sightglass in downtown SF.
I took a brief look around and really liked the decor and the seating area. If I'm back in town and have some free time, I'll definitely come here to try a cappuccino and pastry.
As for the coffee, it wasn't my favorite blend. Yes, it was strong, but had a sour, citrusy note. But the friendliness of the staff and the interior gets a 4 star from me. - Sarah C.San Francisco, CA

Well, the deep outer sunset is getting classier. Straight up San Francisco hipster coffee shop. (complete with your rolling fog and succulents).
Not busy on a Friday morning, but not vacant. Very light inside. Modern. Lots of wood. They also have tables outside for when it's nice.
My decaf americano tasted as it should.
We got an almond croissant, the frittata of the day, and the mini popover sandwich.
Almond croissant was the best (on the sweet side). The frittata was solid - not too dry - lots of mushroom and bacon in it this day. The salad that comes with the frittata has a VERY lemony dressing - so know that. The popover sandwich was least impressive. Just not a lot of unique flavor. All in all this was a good amount of food for a light breakfast.
Looks like they have a number of sandwiches and beer, so a good place to come try for lunch. - Monica L.HARBOR CITY, CA6 friends6 reviews3 photos
10/28/2018Hi y'all so I had breakfast here today and have mixed reviews. I ordered the BTLA, a chai latte and a 12oz regular coffee, bill came out to 17.01, when they only gave me my coffee and food I asked for the latte they said that was not in my order and of course I did not keep my receipt so I had to order another, (this time with almond milk) lesson learned keep my receipt. Oh and my coffee had a bug in it, not good either.

I have never in my life eaten such a sad salad from anywhere. I got the large arugula salad for $7.50 and added a fried egg for an additional $2. and seriously that was all there were. arugula and the egg. I could have went to Trader Joe's and bought 3.5 bags of arugula for $7.50 and made myself a better tasting salad. the dressing was bland. the breakfast sandwich was $9 and that all you get. their iced tea had way too much ice. I mean how much are you saving by filing up the glass with all ice? it is the little things that customers will make a note of and deciding if they want to come back. well, I'm not coming back.
you place your order at the cashier counter first and then you get a number for a table. you pick your own table which I had to clean up myself prior to using it. you pick up your drinks when they call it out but any food order they will bring to you.
at least there is decent parking around the area. that's all I can say on the plus side. - Jami G.San Francisco, CA
11/11/2018I originally planned to get spam masubi and horchata cold brew across the way at Avenues but for some reason Streamline was calling my name. It's a small local, small family owned business. The staff are very friendly and don't carry the typical hipster attitude unlike many of the other local businesses. The hubby and I got the curry chicken sandwich and breakfast plate try the sausage it's made in house!
- Jason P.San Francisco, CA
11/6/2018My brunch here with a friend was VERY tasty. I had the eggs breakfast with extra bacon and it was exactly what I needed after a night of drinking. The hash browns were especially tasty and perfectly cooked. My friend go the Frittata of the Day which was a mushroom and spinach selection, he said it was delightful. There is no better way to spend a sunny morning in the outer sunset than sitting 2 blocks from the ocean with a hearty breakfast. My roommate also always comes here just to study. It has alot of natural light and ample counter space with a super friendly staff. Definitely check this place out if you're nearby!

4/27/2018My friend wants to try out this place & since none of us have been there & we decided to give it a try & it has 4 stars. We ordered 3 drinks, 2 Latte, only warm, not hot enough, ice tea with over loaded ice. 2 large salads with nothing other than the greens. We paid extra for a fried eggs n it was so small. The arugula salad was ridiculous, it only has arugula & we paid extra for the fried egg & dressing was bland. The second was at least the dressing has some flavor, but again it's just greens. The breakfast sandwich taste ok, but the small English toast sandwich is $9.00, but does not come with anything else!! That's a rip off for $9.00! Not even a piece of fruit or slice of bread or something!! The arugula was the fresh, some yellow leaves. So not going back there!!
SO IF YOU GO THERE, DON'T ORDER THE SALAD!!! - Tory O.San Francisco, CA0 friends7 reviews2 photos
12/22/2018Updated reviewHad another disappointing breakfast here again. Look, this place is 'fine'..but it's culinary sensibility woefully does not justify the price they ask. As a local, I desperately want this place to work so I pop in periodically, yet every single time ends in regret. Today was no different.
Noticed the new citrus french toast..one of my favorites, but one always has to ask if they serve it with actual maple syrup or if it's the cheaper toxic alternative, corn syrup. Spoiler alert, it's corn syrup. [[EDIT: I was informed by the owner that there is absolutely no corn syrup used anywhere in the cafe. I apologize for the mistake. I had asked about the syrup, they held up what looked like a jug of real maple syrup, but then said it does in fact have sugar added, which implies corn syrup, and hence my assertion. There was probably just confusion with my question, so I redact my incorrect claims.]]
So I order the breakfast sandwich, with bacon and avocado. They mention it will be $2 extra for both bacon and avo, which is is expected. I receive my sandwich within 2 minutes, which seems too fast. Upon arrival, a tower of egg the size of Salesforce Tower gets placed before me. Visually, it's sloppy, but looks fresh. I notice there's none of the bacon I ordered and have to ask a confused employee for a side. Since I'm forced to rebuild my own sandwich, I remove about 60% of the folded griddle egg mess to a portion closer to what it should be.
At this point, I'm just hungry and want to dig in. I have to flatten the sandwich in a frustrating attempt to fit my mouth around it and nearly all of the avocado mash slurps out onto the plate. It was pale and obviously commercial grade avocado putty, pointless to ever pay extra for. Bacon was quality and delicious (but when ever is it not?).
The flavor of the sandwich itself was even more disappointing than its appearance. Flavorless. Plain. Unseasoned. I couldn't taste the eggs, not even the healthy amount of cheese glue peaking out of the yellow folds offered any hope. The only detectable flavor was the lemon dressing in the greens, which doesn't really work here. I should also mention the biscuit was tough and forgettable, just like its cafe.

12/22/2018Hi Tory; I want to apologize for your experience. We read reviews and try to make our food and service better when we can. We will take your feedback and sincerely work on making things better. I do want to confirm that we have never served corn syrup, as we use real maple syrup to serve with our French toast. We do not stock corn syrup, for any purpose. That said, your feedback is absolutely on our radar. Thank you.

9/27/2017Previous reviewI'm local to the Sunset and needless to say I was excited about a new place to grab some breakfast. The coffee is mediocre, definitely walk across the street to probably the best roaster in the Bay. Food was tasty, but lacked a lot of basic finesse. My breakfast sandwich had an overcooked 'omelette' slapped on it, and a subsequent day, my Pastrami 'Reuben' contained no sauerkraut, the thinnest slice of cheese, and pesto all on a white roll of some sort. I ate both, but wouldn't order again.
The pastries look decent and the decor is modern and lovely. This place has tons of potential and so I have faith this place can get their act together. There's a massive demand for places to eat in the Sunset and so I hope their perceived popularity is credited to that as it's certainly not a reflection of what they deliver.Read more
