Friendly and helpful staff. Getting started was cake. They even sell moving supplies (however boxes, etc. are cheaper at Uhaul) Overall, probably the cheapest storage location in downtown Chicago.

The facility itself is a converted, multi-story warehouse and has been newly renovated. The facility is INCREDIBLY clean and offers a large, pull-up dock for trucks or cars of varying height. There's even a garage large enough for a car to pull into and unload. Access closes at 7pm, but they will give you electronic codes to operate the gates and entry systems during their business hours.

They have two, very large freight elevators in the building and even provide carts and a fork-lift large enough to move furniture! I moved my entire one-bedroom apartment into a 10x10 unit. I noticed they even have outdoor units for your motorcycle, boat, etc.

I am very pleased with the cleanliness, newness, and excellent temperature control & lighting inside. I expect I'll be using this unit for a while.

* SPECIAL NOTE: other storage facilities are offering moving trucks when you first move in... this is a wash. Their truck could already be taken for your move-in date. Just rent a Uhaul for $50 and call it quits!

This is the worse storage facility I've ever used . it's dark . There are no lights in the unit. The units have small house room sized doors. There were only 3 broken carts for the entire facility. There is only access while the office is open so you have to be done by 5:30 Monday through Friday, even earlier on Saturday and they are not open on Sunday.. There were roaches crawling outside the unit across from my unit on the wall. My vintage Mrs.Clause giant musical ornament has been eaten through by mice. 3 days after my bill was due on a$130 unit, I said I wanted to move out. I was told I'd be charged $68 for a prorated amount for 4 days that was actually half a months rent. There is one very rude unprofessional woman who talks really nasty. You can not use the industrial garbage can for even small trash. I was also told the only form of payment upon money was a money order , very inconvenient and again in the amount of half a months rent for 4 days after payment was due!

We've had a storage unit at this location for many years, most of which were trouble-free. Unfortunately, the air conditioning unit above our unit malfunctioned, flooding our unit and destroying some of our items. StorageMart has both refused to give us notes confirming what their staff have said - the leaks were their fault - and refused to reimburse us for our items which were destroyed through StorageMart's sole negligence. We shouldn't have to make a claim on our insurance policy because StorageMart can't properly maintain its premises.

Renter beware.

EDIT: (Added after the comment below.) StorageMart - I've raised the issue with your claims team and they basically said "the contract you signed keeps you from getting money from us for any reason - you can file a claim with your homeowners or sue us." It's fine to have a pleasant voice on social media but folks should know that this is how your company operates! If you want to reach out, I'm sure you can track me down as you do related to payments. You guys just don't care to!

First time using a storage unit, overall a great experience. Joey was professional and helpful when it came to sign up and answering any of my questions. Honestly, that was the core of the experience. I tried calling to get information about rates and access times-it just turned out to be a waste of time.

Drive here, talk to Joey, and get moving. Stand up guy who makes it simple to get setup. No tricks or hassles when moving out. Overall it was a fantastic experience. I will recommend to all my associates.

My initial experience was slightly tainted because we had a poor experience with one of the employees who was very pregnant. She spent more time rubbing her belly than explaining the insurance policy requirement for storage lockers, so my husband and I were shocked when we received a separate line item charge for insurance. Thankfully, manager Joey came to the rescue and quickly removed the charge after we provided our homeowners insurance policy. He was very professional and kind. We then went in to purchase a second locker and worked with RD, who was very courteous and helped us choose the perfect locker. We are SO happy with the arrangement and can't speak more highly of this Storage-Mart location! Joey and RD really care about the facility and their customers - and it shows.

While I've generally liked the facility and the location, they simply do not have enough carts. There are only four in the entire 7-story facility. Apparently, they've had several stolen in the last year but haven't replaced them.

Four carts isn't enough when there are nearly 2,000 lockers.

As a result, I had a team of three movers sitting idle while one went and chased down a cart. This was expensive and unnecessary.

I called to complain and frankly, just got a pile of excuses. This negates much of the good aspects of the facility.

We're thinking of moving our storage location as a result.

If you need a storage in the city, this is the place to go. Joe the manager is the best! He is always ready to help if needed. The place is clean and very well organized. Definitly reccomended!!!!

second time using this company. great service and facilities with good security and access protocols. never had an issue with tools or elevator access or condition.

I've had storage units at many different facilities in Chicago and various parts of the suburbs... so thst being said, his particular StorageMart is...average. There's much worse, but this place has its issues and definitely isn't anywhere near the best either.

Though advertised as 24 hour access, the access hours are only until 7:00pm which is VERY inconvenient. Most non-24 hour facilities usually have access until at least 9:00pm - 11:00pm so this place closing at 7:00pm is just ridiculously early.... (i think it USED to be 24 hours but they've just never updated the information online which is irritating.)


The elevators are pretty horrible.... often at least 1 of them will be out of service....

Not only that, but DOZENS of times while using the elevator (the one located by the main loading area) the elevator would just suddenly stop a good 7 - 9 inches before it had reached my floor, and wouldn't move any higher.... which then having to manage picking up a heavy cart full of stuff 7 - 9 inches to pull it out of the elevator was extremely difficult and irritating (im a 5'7'' and 120lb female so I struggled whenever having to do that, except for the few times I luckily had my male friend with me to help)

There's usually a lack of carts, but that's a problem with most facilities. Actually, about a year after I had moved out of this place, and had a storage unit somewhere else... I was finally just so fed up with nearly EVERY a storage facility having a lack of carts that I finally just saved up about $40-$50 to buy my own cart! lmao! It's a bit smaller than the ones storage facilities have, but it folds up so it takes up very little space in the unit. I highly recommend doing that if you hate waiting for people to be done using the carts all the time!

The staff is at least friendly, never had any issues with employees during the time I had storage here. Though, anytime I told them about that elevator issue of it stopping before reaching the floor, they always said they'd "check it out" but didn't seem to care really.

Though this is a fairly old building, this facility is pretty clean and well-lit in the hallways which is nice. The loading area at this facility is something I miss about it, much more room than loading areas at a lot of other facilities. Even if other people are loading/unloading, there's still enough room to load/unload easily,

The best thing about this place in my opinion is the location. Pretty convenient area, and easy to find the building.

This is a great facility. The staff is helpful and friendly and goes out of its way to match you with the right sized unit. The facility is old but solid and clean. The building and units are secure. The building is well equipped with carts and two freight elevators. Over the past five years, I've rented six units at different times and each experience was positive.
