2/16/2020Mildly obsessed with these gyros and try to get them whenever I am near the West Side Market. Stopped yesterday. Walked up and the line was long, but I decided to wait. Luckily, it went super fast. I ordered a jumbo gyro with 2 extra pita and 2 extra sauce and it fed out family of 4 (2 small kids). I love the sauce as it has a kick to it. My kids didn't like that so we gave them plain sour cream. Definitely try it when you are in the area.

8/17/20191 check-inSo much food! One gyro has enough meat for two meals. It was so full I have to put it away and save it for later. Definitely be stopping by again next time I'm at west side market.

6/23/2019I had to wait in a long & slow line, but the reward was amazing.
HUGE gyro for $9 or jumbo (extra meat) for $11, although I can't image who could possible eat all that!
Pita, loads of meat, lettuce, onions, tomato and sauce. Pretty simple but definitely tasty. - Fox E.Buffalo, NY
12/30/20171 check-inThe subject of many songs, such as Chicago's "If You Steve Me Now", Michael Jackson's "Steve Me Alone", Belinda Carlisle's "Steve A Light On", Sheryl Crow's "Steve in Las Vegas", and the classic "Don't Steve Me This Way."
Despite all the hype and it being on the travel channel, I actually found this to be one of the most bland and uninteresting Gyros I've had. Gyros are supposed to taste of spice & seasoning - not just like hamburger meat.
Sure, they put enough meat to feed a small country for several years on this Gyro, but for me, quality is much more important than portion size. I'll give the 3 just because it is pretty huge - and it's not the worst thing I've ever tasted. Still, if this is the best Gyro you've had, you don't know Gyros.
But I have to say that being on the Travel Channel and Food Network seems more conducive with bad quality than good. Really makes you wonder why people watch that stuff. I guess they just don't know any better. - Mike F.New Haven, CT33 friends121 reviews217 photos
5/20/20191 check-inBig portion. Great price. Fast service. Jumbo is enough for two meals :)

6/28/2018First visited about five years ago and it was a 4-star then, but is now a barely a 1-star. Probably still around cause of old TV appearances and people who don't know any better, this place serves gyros that are big in size but small in flavor. The meat used to be juicy and rich, but now tastes frozen or straight from a can. The pita isn't as fresh and the famed garlic sauce tastes like a watered-down version of its former self. Add the (not so cute anymore) "rules" and a non-appreciative apathetic attitude, and you have more than enough reasons to laugh at the velvet ropes.

8/27/2019Made sure to drop by here in a visit to Cleveland, and boy was it worth it. This was a 2 meal gyro for sure, make sure to get a side of sauce if you want to split this into two meals like I did

6/8/2018Updated review1 check-inVisited Steve's Gyros after seeing them on the travel channel years ago. Well, finally made it to the West Side Market and shared a gyro. The meat is spiced well. Like it leaves flavor on the tongue between bites. It's a sloppy mess so feel free to have a seat while eating it. We knew when walking into the market that we were not leaving without this gyro, but we didn't know where the stand was located. So take your time, shop the vendors but save some cash as this gyro is cash only. The employees were friendly taking our order and we were promptly served a huge freshly shaved off the spic snack.
Being this was my first time ordering I actually had to look at the menu. As you can see in the pictures, there are house rules and small notes essential saying no customizations no substitutions. If felt that the sign was a bit blunt, but again the service was friendly and they just want to keep the line moving.
Tip: Try not to pig out on your gyro as soon as it transfers to your hands. Find a location sit, maybe the benches outside as not to drop your fillings everywhere. Just don't let the pigeons getcha.

6/17/2019All I can say is this may be the best gyro I have ever had. I had a jumbo gyro with sauce and onions. Totally heartburn on a pita but worth every bit of it. I come from Chicago and always believed no other town had a better gyro till now. The sauce was remarkable. It had some kind of spice and was not overly dill tasting. A total complement to the mounds of fresh gyro meat straight from the spit. Looking forward to getting back to Cleveland so that I can partake once again. Oh yea, I don't want to leave out the lovely ladies behind the counter who were very pleasant and worked hard at preparing this wonderful work of meat and pita. They were super nice and patient on getting my whole party's order and getting perfect. With all the good stuff said, the only bad thing is there are no tables to eat it at. But hey, that's part of the experience!

6/6/2018After seeing an episode of Man vs. Food years ago, I literally started drooling at the TV after seeing Steve's Gyros preparing one of their delicious Gyros complete with all the fixins.
After years of bugging my Cleveland born husband to take me, I finally got to go this past weekend and it was worth the wait. The meat was moist and full of flavor. The tzatziki sauce wasn't to thick or runny, more of a just right texture to compliment the wrap.
Now make sure to grab the napkins for this one. It is stuffed full of goodness so it might get a little messy. I suggest eating in the upper level seats. It gives you a good eye view of the hustle and bustle of the market.
I would have taken a picture...but all I wanted to do was dig in immediately. You will understand once you get that masterpiece in your hands. Plus my fellow yelpers have that part covered.

10/12/2019The gyro was great but I wish I didn't see one of the ladies wiping and rubbing her nose bare hands then preparing food without washing them. I really wanted to say something but she didnt seem as she would take it in a nice way. I might not go back because of it.

2/6/2019This is hands downs no questions asked the best Gyro in Cleveland! I've eaten here plenty of times and they never disappoint. It's not just their secret sauce that makes these the best the quality meat and pitas also play a big part. Their gyros ruined me for all other gyros none can satisfy my craving like Steve's. Do your self a favor make a trip to the Westside Market and pick up 2 gyros one for now and later.

2/13/2017So I recently moved to Cleveland and I was told I must go to the West Side Market because it's a foodies paradise. After walking around a bit I stumbled upon a place called Steve's Gyros that was featured on "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" with Anne Burrell & "Man vs Food" with Adam Richmond. Because I'm obsessed with all food shows I had to check this place out. After about a 30 min wait I finally got my gyro and let me tell you it was definitely worth the wait! The meat was perfectly seasoned and the tzatziki sauce was the best I ever had! If your going to the West Side Market definitely check this place out. Make sure you come hungry though cause this baby is filling!

5/14/2017These gyros are the best lots of flavor and very juicy meat, sometimes the meat is too dry but not these gyros at Steve`s!! Waited in line for 20 minutes but it is so worth every minute of waiting. Can`t wait to go back

1/22/2018Finally made my way to Steve's Gyro. To say the least it lived up to the hype. I made a good mistake of getting a jumbo Gyro that seemed to last forever. Definitely not a once sitting type of meal! Menu is pretty straight forward, regular or jumbo, the Tzatziki sauce is a little different from most places which is great. Overall this gyro experience was great, can't wait to venture back.

2/14/20181 check-inMy review will mirror Fox E. Lots of meat but kind of bland. I follow Man Vs. Food around when I travel and Steve's Gyros was at the top of my list. I love Gyros and I love meat. My biggest decision the day before was to get a regular or jumbo. I settled for a regular which was still Bigger than I could eat in a single sitting. The meat was tender and moist. Veggies we're fresh. The taste just wasn't there. It wasn't bad... Certainly a mid or slightly better gryo, just not yummy noise creating goodness.

12/3/2017One of if not the best gyro I have ever had. They won't cut them in half so you have to eat the whole thing yourself :) I like their sauce. I had never heard of them I just saw a very big line and was hungry. I figured if that many ppl were willing to wait in that line it must be good so I got in line too. The only thing I would do different is I like my gyro meat crisped up on a griddle but they are so busy this would be impossible. I would wait in line again.

12/31/2018Was in Cleveland for work, late flight nothing to do.
Downtown was sad and empty.
Found this place when looking for good eats and now I know why downtown was empty... everyone was at west side market. Most people I've seen in one place while in Cleveland and I've been a few times now.
Now to Steve's, was expecting to be underwhelmed because How can a place be as good as everyone says - but like the halal guys sometimes it's just worth it to wait in line. It isn't a classic gyro because the sauce is definitely not yogurt based... reminded me of Big Mac sauce and we'll that shit made McDonald's a trillion bucks so of course it'll go well in a gyro. The meat is seasoned well, the tomatoes were super juicy and fresh probably from a stand in the market and the onions were pungent as they should be... Went for the regular size, still huge and messy and all things you'd want in a cart/street/stand - will be back when I'm in town again hope to see you there!
