Their German Hefeweizen was superb, and we don't say that lightly because we spent 5 years in Germany, very few hefs served in the US come close. I had the club sandwich it was tasty, could have used more
      Mustard, and the fries were
Good too. Husband had the bratwurst he loved it. Didn't exactly taste German, but the wurst, the bun, and the mustard were definitely quality stuff. The Diet Coke tastes off, maybe it was Pepsi? If it's Pepsi they should let people know Service was good, music on the juke box was good, and apparently they have Franziskanner and Spaten also. As good German beer is hard to find in bars we will DEFINITELY be going back. The place looks 150x better since the rescue!

Yummy club sandwich! Needed some mustard.

This is one of our fave spots in the area. The atmosphere is cool, the food is delicious, and the beer comes in many varieties, including several German beers you don't see in many other places. When the bar was remodeled, it seemed to have kept the divey prices and chill atmosphere, but got a major upgrade in everything else.

We tried to come here once when it was Friar Tuck's. A punk band was playing and we didn't go in because of the $10 cover, but it looked dirty and divey (which I love sometimes). Apparently, this bar appeared on Bar Rescue, although I never saw the episode, and got a major overhaul. It feels like being in a dark castle, but cleaner and modernized, if that makes any sense at all.

If you buy an extra large, glass stein for $16, you can bring it back any time and get it filled with any beer for $8. Eight dollars! We each have one now because it's such a steal. It holds at least 3 pints of beer, and usually we're more than good for the night with one refill each. Plus, they just look awesome.

We also come here because the food is DELICIOUS and inexpensive. I usually don't expect much for bar food, besides frozen, fried, boring things, but this food is fantastic.

Pretzel Bites - These are incredible and so is the dipping sauce. And around $6. We always inhale a bucket of these before the rest of our food comes out. A must-try.
Sausage and Cheese Sampler - This is another one of my favorites to order. It's around $14 and you get to pick any 4 sausages you like off the menu, served on a platter with cheese, crackers, and dipping sauces. It was more than enough food for both of us.
Bratwurst - Delicious! I loved the mustard, caramelized onions, and slaw. High quality.

I've probably had more food here, but don't remember because we keep going back to the faves. They had some incredible corned beef and cabbage for St. Patty's Day a special, too. Most of the time we're here, it's because we decide on a spontaneous nightcap and swing by home to grab our stein first.

There is usually live music at night, there are lots of pool tables, and a chill outdoor patio. The bartenders have always been very friendly and laid back (Raquel on Wednesday nights is awesome!)

I came here because of Bar Rescue. I saw how Jon Taffer fixed this place up. The inside is pretty nice. The food and drinks itself are mediocre. I got the bratwurst, which was their signature dish on the show and it wasn't that great. The caramelized onions were the best part. I got the Ivan Stein, which tasted like nasty bitter medicine. The German Coffee was good though!

5 STARS.... I like the new look of this place and for me this is definitely a great bar with some unique bar food options. But you don't come here specifically for food! This is a chill place to be with friends. I kind of miss the drum and bass night however! Bring the Church back? But no worry! There is a jukebox so you can play whatever music you want and its pretty updated. This place seems laid back and has pool tables! A bunch of them... and I heard pool table tournaments as well???

But anyway, cool spot with divey prices... its not really dive anymore... also the smoking patio is pretty relaxed so I liked that. When you had a couple of beers the brats will hit the spot.

I'm not picky about food like some Yelpers... If the atmosphere is relaxed, and the drinks are cheap... well that is a winning combination. And I still thought the food was pretty delicious so there you go. It definitely has a uniqueness to it that Pomona doesn't have elsewhere. So mission accomplished! Will come back for more!

My husband and I visited this bar recently on bar rescue! I'm going to say it's kind of scary from the outside, especially late at night! But it's actually quiet cozy inside! Holly was the bartender and she was extremely attentive! Our drinks were never empty and she was really willing to make us happy! There was a fruit fly in my husband's beer (gross) but we totally understand and Holly replaced his beer immediately!

$16 for beer and the glass plus you can bring the glass back and they only charge you $7 after that! It's at least 40oz!

After a hard day of moving awkwardly shaped furniture intended to be moved by more than one person, what better way to unwind that with a braut and brew?

Ambience was.... Interesting. I love dive bars, but there isn't any reason for the whole place to smell intensely of must and cigarettes. When we walked in a dad rock band was about to go on, needless to say, I'm bummed we missed that.

Service... The bar tender knew we existed but wasn't all the interested in talking to us, but we certainly weren't neglected.

Food! The braut was delicious! Skipped the kraut but everything else was great, especially the caramelized onions. The slaw was on the sweet side and lightened up the plate, which was appreciated.

Beer! The most important part after a long day of moving! It was cheap, selection of domestic craft brews was limited but there were quite a few German beers I'd never tried. They were all sub $6, not bad.

If I'm at my friends house and want cheap decent grub within walking distance, I may be tempted to return. Two of us got out under $30.

Four stars for food, plus one for price, minus one for intense must and smoke, neutral for service.

Some of the most authentic and tasty german food ive had. I ate a double decker Becker and my brother ate a pork schnitzel sandwhich. We have not devoured food that fast in a very long time. The craft cocktails were also really good. The phrost manahatten was stellar and the german lager was perfectly paired with the sandwhich i had.

The drinks on the menu that were created through bar rescue were really good. The prices for drinks were good, and the staff was friendly.

      Try the John fire shot!

First time I had been since the makeover.....much better!! Food looked good and next time I will plan to eat there. Staff was friendly along with the small crowd. It was Saturday night before 9pm, so pretty quiet. I really liked the decor....dark wood tables and chairs.
      Good job!!!!

Nice place, my first time in there was great. I tried both kinds of Hefeweizen and had an awesome plate of nachos. A live band geared up on there little stage as I ate my nachos and first beer. They started playing and I was impressed how good the show was. I'm very hard to impress with a concert because I work at concert venues onstage all over LA. The bar tender was overworked but still managed to keep everyone happy including me. He had good knowledge of the beers and food. Good beer, good food, good service, pool tables and an atmosphere I loved.
Over all as you see 5 stars from me. I'll be back when in town again.
