The staff is super friendly. I've seen amazing things happen here. Including today I got a gift card from the nicest barista acknowledging me for guiding a blind gentlemen through to the line :)

Service here is very professional and friendly.  Line gets long but moves at a consistent pace.  It is clean and well maintained.  Definitely more of a commuter location as there is practically no parking in the area.

The staff here are incredibly unprofessional. I'm sitting here trying to write a paper and enjoy my coffee while there's a rotation of their friends coming in and using their private restroom. They go to open the door of their employee rest room in front of lines of people waiting for the public one, and even took another employee or friend of employee to the bathroom and told them they "don't want to use that one" in reference to the public one in front of customers. Really rude.

Coffee is fine and location is great, but I'm very taken back by the behavior of their crew in the middle of a full restaurant.

Friendly cashier, she was very professional and nice. The barista in the back was inattentive, slow and not polite. After ordering, I stood there at the pickup order, watching her wander around, from the back office to the front, picking up stuff, doing some cleaning, she doesn't wash hands... then after a few minutes delay she proceeds to make my sandwich.  I see her walking over to deliver the goods, and I put my hand out to grab the sandwich from her, she tosses it on the counter and yells "sandwich!" and turns around and walks away as I say thank you...  No you're welcome?   I am the only one standing there.  Zero eye contact!

A little customer service training will go a long way...

Possibly the most inefficient Starbucks I've ever experienced- and I've been to plenty all over the country.  I went around 11, not even the morning rush, and waited about 20 minutes for some reheated breakfast sandwiches, a frappuccino and a Pumpkin Spice latte.

The sandwiches were up before my drinks and there was an oblivious skater kid in front of me who refused to move, so they sat there for a minute, and the lady rudely YELLED.  "I HAVE 2 BACON!!!!!" and I explained they were mine and I was waiting on drinks (awkwardly, on a huge scooter, in everyone's way)

THEN.  They also don't ask for your name when you order, so my PSL came up, and of course they call "Grande Pumpkin Spice Latte," and every white bitch in the place dives for it.  No... sorry.  I've been waiting 20 minutes, pretty sure it's not yours.

Great way to cause a cat fight Starbucks.  Up your game.

I have many local Starbucks that I call "my Starbucks." Actually, I might only have three, and this is one of them. I come here in the morning before going to work and I get the same thing every day. Most days, the barista has my drink ready before I can order. It doesn't matter who's at the register, the same friendly barista always prepares my order and packages whatever else she anticipates I'll ask for before I've made it to the register.

A friend of mine met me here one morning, and she was surprised to see my drink ready before I ordered. I'm not going to lie: it is actually relieving, not annoying, to not have to constantly repeat the same obnoxious drink order. They've never messed it up, as annoying as I am with my specifications.

There aren't a lot of seats here, but I think most people who come here are on their way to work. I'm not usually in any rush at all, but it's still nice to have my drink known and made.

I know many people who don't think highly of this Starbucks, but they've never done me wrong. It helps to always have the same order, and it helps to come in religiously every day at the exact same time. I guarantee myself consistency of service and familiarity. They might not know my name, but they know my face, and they're very kind to me when I enter. Even the newer (and seemingly more timid) baristas have learned my face and order.

Is this what community feels like... or is this what community feels like when you support conglomerates in a Capitalist economy?

And for those of you who wonder, no, I don't think Starbucks has the best coffee. Even their special blends aren't as good as some of the best Colombian coffee cups I've had in Queens.

There's a reason I only order the latte here. It's hardly coffee at all, but it gives me what I need to get through the day.

You're right, this Starbucks basically sucks. Great location, but Central Square is a world class sh*thole, so what do you think you're going to get? Hipster millennial staff with bad teeth, tats, and attitudes. Dirty facilities, unattended trash cans (I commented to the staff a few days ago about the overflowing trash can by the door, and I get, "Yeah, I can't do anything about that right now.." If management were there, that girl would have been "coached" right on the spot).

The one extra star comes from some barista named Sonya with hairy legs - call me crazy, but I'm a fan :)

Great staff that deals with a lot from the local homeless population. Lots of grace under extreme pressure here! It's not often you find someone that can be so friendly right after some crazy guy was yelling at them!

Only giving 3 stars because some of the people  there are very nice, but the service I'd say it's pretty bad, when you get your drink there's sh** all over the cup and they do t even bother to wipe it off, mind you threat time for your drink averages anywhere from 10 to 15 mins, I understand, sometimes is busy, but if they know this location has a high volume of customers why not have more than one barista? One time I wanted for my frappe for maybe 20 mins, when I asked what was going on all they said was "it's coming up" as I watch the barista make drinks for the people that had ordered after me, I finally said I needed to go. Nobody said anything, they didn't offer to refund my money or even give me the drink another day, no apology, no nothing, I walked out of there with drink and I was late for work.

I have to give a few stars because I've never had a problem with my order being unsatisfactory but the customer service at this place is unbelievable. First of all, in the morning, they usually have 1 person taking and making orders and the other stocking, doing trash, etc. Which means we wait. For a long time because one person can only do so much. Then on top of it the barista that was responsible for this was soooo incredibly rude- no eye contact, no normal Starbucks cheeriness. I know Starbucks standards and she falls very, very short of them. I pay $5 a coffee to go to Starbucks not just for the great coffee but also for the good customer service. And I have yet to be impressed with this Starbucks customer service.

I love Starbucks.  I frequent many of their locations multiple days a week, sometime multiple times a day. I am at the Central Square location now more than others since I recently moved to the area. This location leaves me wanting more. The service is nice enough but very slow. This store does not compare to any of the stores in Downtown/Government Center/Beacon Hill as far as speed. I understand Cambridge may have a bit of a different pace during the day, but the morning rush is the morning rush. On multiple occasions I have ordered a particular breakfast sandwich only to be told they are out of stock at 8:00 a.m. Why not order in larger quantities? My real issue with this place is that self service counter is typically pretty dirty and not well stocked with milk, straws or napkins. I am not usually so hard on a place but Starbucks are known for their consistency and high standards, this store misses the mark.

The worst Starbucks ever! I find it hard to believe that Starbucks allows this store to remain open.

The poor condition and slow service of this store doesn't fit the "brand".

Also: the bathroom was filthy.  And that's unique for a Starbucks.

This Starbucks is really as good as it gets! Hands down, the best Starbucks in the area. The staff here is truly wonderful and keeps things moving FAST despite the high volume of customers they get (especially in the AM hours).

I've had some pretty poor customer service at other Starbucks's in the Boston area, however, Starbucks Central Square never lets me down! Since I work in the square and am a frequent customer they'll even give me a free cup of iced water if I just pop my head in and ask! Now that's customer service!

Yeah, the location is kinda small. But hey, it's Central Square and space is a little tight here in the city. But, the size is not enough to bring my review down a star! And even though the size isn't too great the location is AMAZING. RIght at the corner of Mass Ave and Prospect right in front of the Red Line!

I'll ALWAYS recommend Starbucks in Central Square!

The market for coffee in Central Square is pretty intense - you have Starbucks, DD, ABP,Clear Conscience, 1369 Coffee, and Cafe Mariposa in like a 3 block radius.  That being said, I have a lot of loyalty for this Starbucks (which is not true about loyalty to ALL Starbucks).  Here are my 3 reasons:
    1)  CLOSE proximity to the Red Line stop.  Easy in and out!
    2)  The staff is super friendly and really hustles.  They have far and away the MOST efficient line management of any of the local options!
    3)  As far as early morning comedy - you can usually count on some good drama involving their bathroom situation with people demanding access at super inopporutune moments.

There are a lot of options for your coffee $$ in Central - I go with the Starbucks about 90% of the time!

Possibly the rudest staff out of all the Starbucks. I understand that working on a Sunday afternoon may not be the most pleasant situation to find yourself in, but if you can't be nice to customers, don't work as a barista.
