I guess my experience was an exception, judging by most of the reviews this agency is getting, but after losing my job during the recession in 2009 I was out of work for quite a while (with some intermittent dead-end gigs here and there), and when I went to this agency in the summer of 2012, I had a temp job less than a week later (a lot better-paying, too, compared to everything else I realistically had a shot at at the time!). Not only that, but the position was actually a good fit for the direction I wanted to take my career.
I dealt with a few other staffing agencies at the time as well, who called me to offer this or that a few times after I got that temp job, but I didn't take them up on those offers because the temp job I had was unmistakably better.
The recruiter who helped me get that job at the time was Edwin Medina, don't know if he is still there.
It has now been almost 6 years since that temp job placement, since then not only was I offered a permanent position at that company, but I've been promoted three times based on my abilities and performance. I am a well-paid specialist now, with more and more doors opening for me professionally with each passing year. It's amazing how far I've come after Staffmark helped me get my foot in the door, and for that I will forever be grateful.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Marisa S.Wayne, NJ163514Aug 25, 2016
The application experience felt like something out of the twilight zone.
It was an extremely lengthy, multi-phased, redundant and at times nonsensical process.
Their website information is out of date. Many of the offices listed are no longer open.
After spending several hours across 5 days, I was asked to drive 45 minutes to their closest open office (in Edison NJ). Upon arrival I was told that neither the positions or salary requirements I listed were available. (That would've useful to know before I spent 1.5 hrs on the road and $10 in tolls to get there)
Of the two staff members I encountered, one acted as if my very presence at the office was a disturbance (I was the only non-employee there) and the other, though courteous, seemed confused and disoriented.
Even if Im offered an assignment, I would have to decline. I'm not confident they could competently manage the administration and scheduling around my work assignment.
I would not recommend applying here.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Denine P.Union City, NJ68594Mar 3, 2017
For the last month and a half I have had the absolute pleasure of working with Jennifer Kares in my job search. She went completely above and beyond the call of duty. She was friendly, responsive, AVAILABLE, and always had my best interest in mind. She pushed the companies hard and got me the absolute highest paying offer of the FIVE recruiters I worked with.
In the end, I went with a different recruiter's company because of the culture / personality fit with the team, but I really wanted so so badly to be placed with Jenn because she really went so far out of her way to help me succeed.
If you get the chance to work with her, take it seriously and consider yourself blessed. She's a rockstar recruiter!
Thank you so much for everything, Jenn!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 7, 2010
I don't use a lot of employment agencies because they can, many times, just be a waste of time. However, this agency always lands me interviews and had even placed me with my previous employer. I'm always testing the waters to see if a better opportunity is available and just this week I called Staffmark, spoke with Jill and was setup with a prospective opportunity.
I'm definitely a fan of this agency.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Albert R.Brooklyn, NY1316Mar 20, 2019
Mary Ann Molloy, Lee Papa, and Gerri Delaney all top notch, top shelf, on top of their staffing game. 3 super women fighting for the armenian way!
Bless their hearts!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 880249465Nov 16, 2015Updated review
Weirder than weird. Seriously. The whole experience was like the Twilight Zone. So was the job they got me and the scary fact I lasted a year and a half. Sure they have jobs, but 2 of the recruiters I had the luck of dealing with here would sell their souls to make a placement fee.. My recruiter lied about the bonus, told lies to get me to accept, called or texted me 30 times a day until I did accept..And well yeah, I know people say recruiters are right up there with defense attorneys and used car salesmen but seriously people, have some values.

I still say to go to as many as you possibly can. You never know which one will work for you. I guess like dating, it's a numbers game in this competitive city.
This place seemed a little nuts. Good entertainment though, I guess. I'm not going to go into specifics, because again, I do not like to 'talk' about specific employees in reviews and maybe this one was just having an off day...or week. Can't say the behavior I witnessed was at all professional. I did actually get called for possibly 3 interviews. But none of them materialized. Then one was suddenly canceled.
And again I am saying to myself- an hour wasted, too much time analyzing the wackiness of what I experienced through the 2 weeks dealing with them. But hey- at least I'm trying and so far, still alive through this dreadful, discouraging process. - Kelsey B.Eureka Springs, AR2951989Feb 13, 2015
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE-
STAY AWAY, I REPEAT, STAY AWAY FROM JESSICA. I left work in the middle of the day so stop in to meet with them, and it was the biggest waste of cab money and time. Total scammers.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nichelle F.Brooklyn, NY2643Aug 19, 2016
Heather Hansen was actually fairly pleasant to work with, however Jennifer Kares was initially pleasant and then extremely unprofessional and dramatic after some time saying that I was high maintenance and a nightmare to work with. This came after I wanted to find out more about the team I would potentially support as an EA.
I was asking what they do in the company to get a sense of if it is a department I would find interesting/ would be a good fit for me. When I asked her what the department does she was almost indignant saying I don't know you can find that on the website. I didn't want just a job I wanted something interesting and potentially a good fit.
Why is it an issue for someone to want to know more about a job opportunity? Why is it an issue to wan a good fit? Changing jobs is a commitment and a good recruiter should be concerned about good fit not just finding someone any job. Jennifer doesn't care about your interests or a good fit. All she cares about is placing someone and continuing through her list of jobs and that's not good service.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Me M.Montclair, NJ147Aug 26, 2016
I don't have anything nice to say about this place. I would give it 0 stars If I could. Jennifer Kares is not so nice. When I call a recruiter back or email them to find out if they've gotten any feed back on my resume, they should respond. A sentence or two will do the trick. However, she just ignores her clients. When she wants you to be somewhere for her she's on top of you every second, but can't extend the courtesy to email someone back. It's a factor like a lot of the agencies in NYC. She acted like she had all these jobs to offer me and she had nothing. There are a few good ones in NYC, but this isn't one of them/

I applied online and received a call from Heather Hansen to come in and talk about the opportunity she had for me. I came in and met Heather for about 2 minutes before I was on my way. Two weeks later and I have not heard back from Heather. I emailed her multiple times with no response. I finally received a response when I called her and she told me she had no updates or opportunities for me. She called me in the first time because she said she had an opportunity for me and now she doesn't? Do not go to this place they will lie to you about opportunities they have!
