I have to admit I wasn't sure about this place but the reviews were so good, I had to give it a try - and so glad we did. It was excellent BBQ with a genuine smoke flavor without being dry as often happens. Too many BBQ places sacrifice the moist and juicy meat for more smoke - but why? Dry meat doesn't equal better meat. This place gets it right - and it's in the middle of an Air Force Exchange! By the way, anyone can eat there.

FOOD: Got a variety of stuff between my wife and I. Had to try the fried chicken and it lived up to the hype. The flavor in the crust is what really made it. And because it was cut thin, it had the right balance between crust and meat. We also tried the ribs and brisket - both were nicely done. Good smoke while still being tasty and NOT dry. The sauce was good too. A nice balance between sweet and spicy. I had the fries, potato salad, and hush puppies. The puppies could have been a bit bigger so there was a better balance between crispy outer crust and the soft middle, but they were still good. I loved the fries and potato salad.

SERVICE: Should have worn gloves while putting together the food, but other than that, very nice, quick, and done right. Polite too!

COST: Great cost for what you get. Nice big helpings - definitely walked away full!

Located in the food court at the McClellan commissary (open to the public), it's nothing fancy. The catfish poboy is simply the best in the area. The breading on the shrimp was perfectly seasoned and crispy. We also tried the beef sandwich, fried okra, and hush puppies - all excellent!

South Quarters is probably the best Southern food in the area. Will definitely be back to try their pull pork and prime rib!

They were no longer in the location that's on yelp! I heard nothing but good things about this business. Hopefully, they will reopen somewhere else

What they do do right: The fried chicken, shrimp, and fish.

The fish and shrimp seemed really fresh. Great mix for the batter. The thighs were boneless, with the same flower seasoning.

What they need to do better:
Ribs, Mac and cheese, and SERVICE TIME.

It took 45 minutes from order to pick up. One guy in the kitchen, one last at the register. Wasn't even busy.

The Mac and cheese was really plain. Even just some pepper would have helped. I would never order it again.

Ribs: Not the business. BBQ... like... at your cousins house, the one who can't really cook, but tries really hard. They always ask you how you like it, and you lie straight to their face and say it was bomb. These are them ribs. You can eat them, but if they can't make them better, get it off the the menu.

      What was okay, I guess:
      Potato salad, garlic rice.

I would pick no star but forced. Our waitress was not friendly. Was upset when I asked if she could wipe down the table/chairs that had food particles from previous customers. Did a bad job of wiping and I asked to give me towel and I will do it. Brought our food but made us wait 5-7 mins for utensils. Red beans and rice weren't cooked through. Really need to step up on seasoning. Cannot accommodate more than 8 people which was disappointing considering we traveled from out of town to be together for special occasion.

Today I went to south quarters for lunch. Upon arriving at the restaurant my expectations immediately took a dip. I will say the employee that handled me was pretty rude. The food is definitely a 4 star but the brisket is probably the worst item on the menu. It's rubbery, I would recommend going for the ribs. The rice & beans were really good though. The location isn't the best and the customer service wasn't good resulting in a 3 star review. However, I will be back and hopefully get a better experience.

Happened to try this new business. The brisket with side of sauce is the tenderest, best tasting brisket I've ever had! I dipped the slices into the sauce and couldn't stop eating it!
Picked the homemade tasting dill potato salad as a side and it is equally yummy!
Didn't expect to find such outstanding food in a food court. Will be back for sure!

Located inside the commissary food court where burger king used to be. I've been here a few times. The owner Cory is very friendly and quick and getting orders out.. I've tried their Pulled pork sandwich with BBQ sauce, Prime rib w/ Swiss cheese and au jus dipping sauce, shrimp and lobster chowder soup, and their collard greens. Everything has been really good. Definitely recommend.

I'm from Arkansas and I can vouch for this really good southern barbecue. You can taste the smoke which is a rare quality in restaurant barbecue, you typically only find in competition tastings. I did find the sauce a little sweet but some people like that brown sugar. I will be coming back.

Don't be fooled by the location, this is a must try work lunch spot.

Almost forgot to take a picture of my ribs cause I just kept eating.
