Another Jon Taffer bar bites the dust. Ok.

This place is closed now, thank god. What a disgrace it was. Back in the day this place was half decent. When the last owner took over he ran it into the ground. The town shut them down ultimately for noise complaints and too many disturbance calls to the police. It became a public nuisance an attracted a less than desirable clientele to an otherwise peaceful residential, shopping and dining
street.
This is a great location and I hope to see a new and upscale bar/rest here in the future.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Seth F.Brooklyn, NY02Sep 24, 2012
This is literally the worst Sports Bar I have ever been to. Let me go further, this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to.
My friend and I went there to watch NFL games as they have sunday tickets First, none of the bartenders knew how to work the remote and we had to wait for someone who did to turn the channel. We finally were able to view the games we wanted but the location of the TV's is terrible as well. They are directly above the bar stools so you have to move back to watch and you are craning your neck the entire time. It couldn't be set up any worse if they tried.
They had seemed to have some decent specials. All domestics on tap were $2 but they ran out of everything besides Coors Light. So the special was $2 Coors Light. They had decent food specials. $5 for 5 wings (still pretty expensive), a small plate of nachos, cheese fries or a quesadilla. The food was actually decent, nothing special but if the bar in general was run a little better, I would not mind eating there again.
A gentleman sat down next to me at the bar and ordered a Turkey Burger. They were out of Turkey Burgers so he ordered a veggie burger. When his food came, he asked for ketchup and mustard. THEY WERE OUT OF MUSTARD!!! How can a bar that sells food be out of mustard? That almost as bad as if a bar was out of Scotch Whiskey. Oh yeah, THEY WERE OUT OF SCOTCH WHISKEY. Seriously, a bar was out of whiskey. Then another women wanted a margarita and they were out of lime juice...we couldn't help but laugh. They were also out of house wine and a few other things.
All my friend kept saying was 'I wish we could get Robert Irvine (sp?) here.'
Now the service was ehhhhhh at first, not great and not special and it got worse from there. When we first got there it was two young 20 girls working and besides not knowing how to work the remote they were at least nice. They were a bit disorganized but did there best. Then the manager came in. The manager looked like if Jose Canseco (post-roids) and an extra from the Soprano's had a baby. Come to think of it, this bar was run so poorly it could easily be a mob-front.
The manager seemed disinterested at best. If someone asked him for something he seemed reluctant to do so. He just sat in the corner with his arms crossed, never smiling.
Now the football games were great. A lot of upsets and close games. Three actually went to overtime, including the local NY Jets. BUUUUUUUUUT, one lady requested the Eagles game be on a TV (It was just starting as the other 3 were ending). Normally this request would be completed quickly and intelligently but intelligence seemed like an endangered species at this bar. The manager turned all of the TV's on one side of the room to the Eagles game. There were four TV's on this side and two of them had the overtime games on but the manager thought it was necessary to have 4 TV's showing the same game. By the time he meandered over to change the channels again one of the games finished and we completely missed it.
And the proverbial icing-on-the-cake was the bald African American bartender. She almost seemed like a stereo type of a black woman on a bad FOX sit-com. She was sarcastic and lazy. I actually had the audacity to ask her for something and she rolled her eyes. If i remember correctly, I asked for a diet coke. There was a family there having lunch and the dad asked for change. This some how pissed her off and she turns to the other bartender and says loud enough for others to hear 'he'll get change when I am done doing what I am doing,' and then visibly starts moving slower.
There is a silver lining though. At least for my friend and I. He had several beers and we ordered $30 worth of food. For everyone else they were taking credit cards to hold their tab but for us they never asked. When the horrible bartender came in, she asked if we had a tab and we said 'no,' and then the other, nicer bartender said, 'don't worry, they're regulars. They're here every weekend.' We have literally never been there before or will ever go again. When we paid our bill they missed most items and we essentially got a free meal.
NEVER EVER EVER EVER GO HERE - Unless your name is Robert Irvine.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andrew G.Summit, NJ537500315Sep 19, 2012
This bar is not bad at all, but its just OKAY -- I only say that because it's the only bar in the Montclair area that SERVES DRINKS. While this isn't the BAR's fault, it's just unfortunate. The drinks haven't been bad -- I either get a whiskey sour or bourbon on the rocks, and they've been good the few times I've gone. The prices are also very attractive for this place and location. Last time I went, I paid $10 for two whiskey sours on a Friday night -- not bad at ALL.
Its across the street from Comb barbershop, and near the Urban Outfitters. Solid spot for a drink!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kenton F.Newark, NJ189160270Jul 19, 2012
I like the spot. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and two long islands I was happy with the quality of the food and the drink. I like the look of the place and the waitresses were cute and friendly.

Oh god, got a gift card to the place for 100$ (was a deal, 50$ for 100). Wow, what a trip. Unfortunately, we weren't able to spend it all in 1 shot. The first time, we got some beers that were priced well and some calamari. After confirming that there were the tentacle kind, we got the plate, and it was only rings. The marinara sauce was ketchup. Terrible. Was scared to eat seafood here.
2nd time we went, we brought friends so that we could drink the rest of the certificate. Prices again, were good for booze, but service was very odd.
What is sad is that this place is in a great location, has a liquor license, and is pretty big. Unforunately, it is kind of run down, has a rap for being a shady place at night, and the bathroom is gross. Also, even though there are only a few people in the place, they have a whole section cleared out without chairs or anything. Very odd.
Will not go again.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 30237566Jun 12, 2012
I came here for dinner with friends. I had a few questions for the waitress regarding the menu, and she had trouble answering them. The French fries were pretty good.

It's a shame this place sucked so bad! A great location in a town with very few bars. The decor is dark, dirty, and mismatched. The bar smells of stale beer and the noise level was ridiculous. A dj spinning like he's in a club on a Monday night, really? With all this and a questionable clientele a feeling of awkwardness came over me while trying to finish my beer.
