Finally! Snap Kitchen has opened in Midtown Village, a.k.a. the Gayborhood.
It's the sixth location in Philadelphia in less than six months. It's like one location per month- Other locations are: Rittenhouse Square, Old City, Spring Garden, Malvern, Villanova and Cherry Hill.
So let's talk about Snap Kitchen, Shall We:
First off, even though my lunch options are not limited, I'm so tired of eating the SAME things, and I'm always on the hunt for new spots around me. That's why I'm so excited that Snap Kitchen has secured a very strategic location on walnut street, less than one block from Jefferson Hospital. Way to go Snap Kitchen (proudly said!)
- Snap Kitchen's shelves are loaded with breakfast, lunch and dinner food (Comes in three sizes: small, medium and large.) In addition to the prepackaged meals, they also carry snacks( e.g kale chips) and pressed juices (ZERO calories Matcha Mint Tea.)
- Snap Kitchen is a convenience "Wawa-like" market, just the healthier version of Wawa.
- Snap Kitchen is grab-and-go balanced, healthy (and tasty) meals.
- Snap Kitchen serves readymade, fresh and reheat-able meals.
- Snap Kitchen's food are labeled with sophisticated nutrition labels.
I just ate Snap Kitchen's small Chicken Butternut Squash Macaroni ($6.99) for dinner, washed it down with Matcha Mint Tea ($1.99) I was satisfied.

I signed up for Snap Kitchen food service delivery. I received my first order of 6 meals and did not like the food. Mostly because of the quality of the ingredients and overall taste. Since I'm not too fond of the taste, I canceled my subscriptions. However, when canceling instead of it canceling right away, Snap kitchen charged me for another order. I called their customer service number to ask them for a refund and to stop delivery. Their customer service rep was not very empathic or concerned. I will now have to contact my credit card company to ensure they do not charge my credit card moving forward.
Due to their lack of good customer service, I would not recommend Snap Kitchen to anyone. Perhaps try out Freshly or HelloFresh, who I also use and have only had positive experiences.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anita S.Philadelphia, PA33243715Nov 1, 2016
I came here looking for a prepackaged meal to take with me to Prometric for a day-long test. The staff was helpful in selecting something that would keep in a lunch box, rather than a fridge, and provided me with a protein punch to keep me going rather than something carb heavy that would have made me sleepy.
I also grabbed one of their La Colombe cold brew coffees that has almond milk in it, strong, but that's what I needed!
Felt good to stay close to Whole 30 compliant even on a day when all I wanted to do was stress eat! The store itself is clean, bright, and all of the various entrees looked appetizing. I like that they come in different sizes, so you can grab a meal for a snack or for a full fledged dinner.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Gia M.Philadelphia, PA393630299Aug 19, 2016
As I noted in my review of the Old City location, Snap Kitchen is basically a boutique prepared-foods market. There are many different dishes that work well for breakfast and lunch, or even a light dinner. I particularly like the bison quinoa and the turkey chili--they're reasonably-priced for lunch and all of the ingredients are printed on the side, so it's easy to see what you are eating. This location is smaller in square footage than the Old City location, but it still has the microwaves and a few seats in case you'd like to stay.
One thing I've noticed that they've started doing is separating out the protein from the salads, which brings down the price and makes it easier to choose your favorite protein. One thing that you have to be careful about are the prices--although each dish has a price grid on the shelf (pricing is by container size), the signs are small. Keep an eye out!
PRO TIP: if you've decided that Snap Kitchen is your new favorite place, I suggest getting their rewards card--you get a point for every dollar purchased, and you get free dishes after milestone purchases ($200).Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kevin K.Philadelphia, PA3403851Jan 20, 2017
Snap Kitchen feels like a small supermarket with all the food organized by type and size. It is easy to grab what you want depending on how you are feeling or if you are specifically trying to eat healthy. There are vegetarian and gluten dishes, sweet and savory dishes allowing anyone who has a specific diet or dietary restriction to eat there. Another thing I love is that each package will show the nutrition content, recommended cook time and ingredients used.
There are microwaves to immediately heat up the food there and a couple of tables to sit at if you wish to eat there. My one complaint is that sometimes the food could be more flavorful but it is great microwave food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anna Marie C.Philadelphia, PA306460125May 26, 2016
I love how organized, clean, and well packaged things are in here. I love how everything is perfectly labeled and color coded. I love how this simplifies my life so that I don't have to cook. If you follow the container directions things actually come out pretty decently. And fear not there's a microwave there and you can do it there!
That being said the dishes are hit or miss, and the prices can be a bit on the high side. Quality mostly standardized well. My fave is the Scottish salmon (except for the piece I got chock full of fishbones!) Juices are good--but there's so many juice options in the city.
I like having another quick grab and go option. I hope people carefully look at the labels--some dishes are super high in sugars or fats!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ivy L.Brooklyn, NY564139113Jul 11, 2016
3 and a half Yelps.
I was super excited for Snap Kitchen to open in this, but somehow didn't get a chance to stop by until recently. Unlike a traditional / fast food restaurant, Snap kitchen focuses on healthy, quick take-out -- think salmon, macro-friendly lasagna, egg white scrambles, etc. The only caveat is that the meals tend to be a little pricier than what you'd normally expect from pre-prepared take-out. Many of the entrees come in small, medium, and large sizes, which is perfect depending on how hungry you are. The staff is also super friendly; when I stopped by looking very confused and indecisive, they helped me find what I was looking for AND offered me a free taco. What's not to love?
Whether you're gluten-free, vegan, paleo, or just looking for something healthy to eat, Snap Kitchen is definitely a place to check out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Abby B.Raleigh, NC3357536May 22, 2016
I've been to all the Snap Kitchen's within a 5 mile radius. Yes, that's how much I love this place! I have been on the "strict paleo" diet for about a month. Yes, a lot of the stuff at Snap is paleo, but if you're doing strict or Whole 30, you need to look at the ingredients closely.
On a recent visit to this location, the employee was super helpful. I told her of my "diet" (really, it's just a clean way of eating!) and she gave me a handout of approved Snap Kitchen foods! This was super helpful, especially since I come here a few times a week for lunch.
When in doubt, always look at the ingredient lists, but know that the staff at Snap is knowledgeable and there to help you.
Yes, it's pricy. However, I always feel 100% after eating clean and thanks to Snap, I can do that even on the craziest of work days!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vincent C.East Stroudsburg, PA1128Apr 12, 2017
Came in yesterday. First timer. Great place, awesome selection of good food, fair prices, & easy to prepare. Everyone in the store was nice & very helpful. Downloaded their app and basically got a free meal! Def will be coming back.

got the small spaghetti with bolognese sauce (one of the cheapest entrees at the place) to try~ it came to shy of $6 after tax. 260 calories... so hmm.. while it was delicious, i think it's still a little pricey for an everyday buy. i didn't look at how much the bigger sizes costed, but for me, i would need 2 small portions to actually be full... at that price point, i probably would just go to an actual restaurant to get freshly made food that's not "leftovers".
but putting that aside! i was very surprised to see how aldente the pasta was! it was pretty well made~ even though we reheated it with the microwave, i could still taste the freshness. it had basil strands with shredded cheese on top ... very fancy indeed! i would get the pasta again if i'm in the mood.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
