This is a great burger place...the staff were friendly...and the cheeseburger was tasty even though I got it by less.. the set up for us non-bun eaters or those who are trying to eat less carbs.. was great.. they put it in a plate and give you a knife and for... fries were great..
I would definitely come back here... the service was also fairly quick too considering I had an hour break at the conference I attended.. so yup thumbs up for this burger joint!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 92325780Dec 9, 2018
This Smashburger is located in Liberty Station. There is free parking all around which usually isn't bad. There is indoor and outdoor seating. And, the staff was friendly and provided quick service.
Once you walk in, you walk up to the front counter, check out their menu, and place your order which can be to-go or dine-in. We went in during lunch time and luckily it wasn't too busy. If dining in, they will give you a number to place at your table and will deliver your food to you when it's ready.
For your burger, you can choose which patty you would like (beef, grilled or crispy chicken, turkey, or black bean). You can also choose the size of your patty (regular or big).
Surprisingly, we did not have to wait long for our food. It came out a lot quicker than we expected considering it was lunch time. We ended up ordering the regular sized San Diego burger (avocado, cilantro, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, sour cream & chipotle mayo on a telera roll) with tater tots. It was the perfect amount of food... not too filling and didn't leave us hungry. Our food was also not greasy or heavy and didn't make us feel gross or guilty after eating it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 21, 2019
First time at this location (usually go to the one in Mission Valley). Looked like a new menu board--the food was presented differently, I suppose to minimize the confusion on how to order on picking meat, bread, and which burger. Not a problem b/c I had a BOGO coupon anyway for a double burger. Burger w/fries came out pretty fast; warm and tasty. The kids meal (burger, fries) was a good deal for $7 and was a really good size, close to the adult size.
Nice kid took was our cashier who took our order. Would definitely come back again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 16, 2017
Historically, I love Smashburger, so when I finally realized that there is one nearby, I had to go.
Did a decent sized order to go and it didn't take long because on that particular Sunday night a few weeks back, it was pretty empty.
Everything was still the delicious smashed burger with crisp outer edge that I remembered and trying a salad, that was really good too! They also make a mean rosemary garlic fry and yummy sweet potato fry.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Aug 8, 2017Updated review
I grabbed a San Diego Burger and the Veggie Frites (had to try them)on the way out of town.
The place looked fresh and clean. If that's such a thing .
The prices were decent and the service was fast. The cashier was chipper even though it was near closing time.
I was a little disappointed in the Veggie Frites. They were fried (or so called) green beans and carrot sticks. The flavor was good, but the veggies were limp. I thought they were going to be crispy, but they weren't.
They cost $2.99 and you didn't get that many of them.
The San Diego was a burger with avocado, lettuce, and tomato. It tasted good.
I would still give them another try one day.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 10, 2017Previous reviewI grabbed a San Diego Burger and thr Veggie Frites (had to try them)on the way out.

Smash Burger is for you if you love burgers. Fresh ingredients, made to order and awesome fries.
Even the salads are awesome!
Any of the burgers are excellent. Above average
Salads too. And don't forget Smash fries.
You won't know how you have lived so long without coming here.

Quality burgers over here. When my order came, I was surprised at how well each of the ingredients in the burgers really expressed themselves. This isn't your traditional kind of burger joint, but one where there's extra care in making the best burger possible.
I had the BBQ bacon and cheddar. This one was very satisfying and was completely different from any burger that I could get at a fast food restaurant or diner. Additionally, you should definitely try the smashfries.
Their Smashfries are a different take on fries. It's one of extra taste and one that completely surprises you when you take your first bite.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 29, 2018
We came here because we were staying in a hotel in the area. And to be quite honest I'd never previously heard of this chain. I enjoyed the various tea varieties available to me (sweetened and non), a burger (which wasn't anything special, really), and some really delicious lightly fried green beans and carrots (these were the highlight of my meal!!).
The location was a bit busy and the noise level was about what you'd expect for a fast food burger place. The booths were well maintained and there was a good amount of space in which to sit. I'd definitely come back for the lightly fried veggies and tea and would likely try a different main course item from the menu. Service was pretty quick and satisfied our lunchtime needs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sep 22, 2015
Although nothing was technically wrong with anything that we ordered, there was nothing spectacular or standoutish about our meal. The menu consists of typical burgers, chicken sandwiches and salads equivalent to what you would find at most fast food joints. All burgers are cooked to the same temperature which is a pet peeve of mine since I like meat cooked at medium rare.
The atmosphere is comfy with large booths, great AC and friendly staff. We were impressed by their fountain soda selection. THE burgers had decent flavor, but are a bit pricey considering the similarity to places like Carl's Jr or burger King.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Brian Amber P.TN, TN2883Aug 23, 2019
Save your money and take it to another burger chain. My "lettuce wrap" burger was 3 pitiful, wilted pieces of lettuce. The burger was greasy. I asked for a bun with cheese for mynpicky, vegetarian toddlers and was told "we can't do that." Is it really that hard to charge me a couple of bucks and give me a bun and piece of cheese? Every other fast food place I go to seems to be able to figure it out. Also, if they can charge an ADDITIONAL obnoxious amount for toppings many other places add for free (Five Guys, BurgerFi), why can't they charge me an obnoxious amount for a piece of cheese and bun?
All in all, the food was overpriced and extremely mediocre with customer service that leaves you wanting for a whole lot more... McDonald's does it better.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
