The last time I was at Sligo, I believe was to attend an Aron Shust concert. I am a Simple Truther, the broadcast that Pastor Charles Tapp moderates. Having a dear coworker and her family attend the church may have added to the warmth, acceptance and love felt. I got to hear two messages from Pastor Tapp, one on WGST at 8:30 and one in Person at the 11am service. Surely a memorable experience that I must journal. Yet, I have to return to hear Pastor Alex. The children and all those attending to their needs was a joy to witness.

This building is hard to miss. It is a giant oddly shaped concrete blob in Takoma Park. The pastoral staff are nice. There are lots of community events.

Sligo's reputation preceded it. From what I had heard I expected something 5 times the size with fireworks and a marching band. What I got today was smaller than I expected, without fireworks, but with video entertainment and a steel drum band that was both exciting and really good! It's hard for me to believe that there are places within driving distance that provide such a feel-good experience for free every week (or for the cost of whatever you can donate.)
Looking around the room, you see a congregation that's tons more diverse than the UN, and filled with kids. There's even a screaming meemies room where the especially rambunctious children are corralled behind soundproof windows.
I arrived with about 30 seconds to spare and I found parking. This was my first ever SDA service, and it was a good one. If you can't make it to the building, their website rebroadcasts sermons and entire services.
