Love this spot. Took my mom to check it out.
Everything was amazing as always!
But the star of the show was our server Mason!!
He was working completely by himself!
Bartending and serving ALL the tables.
We were a table of six and it was at least 12-14 other ppl total.
He handled it so incredibly and made sure everything and everyone was served well.
I was very impressed and pleased with my visit.
See you soon!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Nov 13, 2020Previous reviewI saw this place on Diner Drive In And Dives! Decided to check it out for lunch.
Place is small just a heads up but atmosphere is very nice and friendly. They do have outdoor seating which is nice also.
The was super good! Everything was great but the Brussel Sprouts were the best I ever had!
Garlic noodles were incredible also .
Our server Tonya was great..she went out of way to fix the martini to my liking.
Definitely would recommend to anyone for a nice lunch date. - Oct 17, 2023
I enjoyed a dinner here on a whim. I liked all the menu options they had and enlighten they had a happy hour too!
Overall, the food was okay and your typical Vietnamese options. What really surprised me was the calamari fried onions, the charbroiled grilled chicken, and the prawns garlic noodle dish! Those were all so so flavorful! Portions were also very good for the price too!
Service was good and the ambiance was a bit more upscale than your hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 23, 2023
Funny enough - my husband and I were watching Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives one morning in our hotel while visiting Phoenix and it was the episode this restaurant was featured. Lol My husband looked this place up and saw that it wasn't too far away so we decided to head over for lunch that same day.
We both ordered the lunch special which comes with soup and salad. I had the Crispy Rice Clay Pot with shrimp and my husband had the same but with tenderloin. Both were delicious and the rice was extra crispy, which we loved.
We also ordered the crispy vegetable egg rolls and the crispy pork egg rolls. Both were flavorful and came with good dipping sauces.
Overall, great service and very good option for Vietnamese food. Worth checking out if you're in the area.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tim M.FL, FL05Apr 11, 2024
This is a wonderful restaurant. I'm just passing through but heard about it from the Guy Fieri DDD episodes. If you live in Scottsdale you should definitely check this place out. The food was delicious and the service was top notch.

We ended up at Slanted Rice on a cool January day in Scottsdale craving pho to take the chill off. This is a small restaurant but with tasteful decor and indoor, patio or bar seating. We came for the rare beef pho and the vermicelli salad. The kitchen fan broke while we were there so to prevent the dining area from filling with smoke they had to open the doors which made it a bit chilly as we waited for our meal. We each had the rare beef pho served with plenty of basil, lime, jalapenos and bean sprouts. The broth was devine you could taste the warm spices (cloves, allspice, maybe cardamom) in the broth. There was plenty of onion and tender beef in the pho. We were able to package up and take home for another 2 meals. We also shared the Vietnamese Vermicelli salad with pork eggroll as our protein. Love this salad and it all comes together with the sweet and tangy light dressing. The eggrolls were crunchy and filled with ground pork and were delicious. We will be back on our next visit to Scottsdale.

I was disappointed at the quality of food here. It's been a few years since I've eaten here and definitely is not the same.
Service was great as she did the best she can. It was only one server working the entire restaurant and she was hustling.
I ordered the lunch special which comes with soup and salad. I ordered the lemongrass stir fry.
Soup was okay, salad was just a few pieces of leaves with some dressing on it (nothing else) my main entree was too sweet. The sauce they put on it was too syrupy and sweet.
Was not a good lunch.
This is a restaurant that Guy Fieri from Food Network visited some time back as well.
Unfortunately, I will not be coming back.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 22, 2023
In a shopping center right next to a lash bar and rowing class. In case you want to burn off the calories you consume and look great afterward.
I walked in at 2pm on a Friday and there were 3 other tables and a few people at the bar. I was immediately greeted by Mason who was taking care of everyone. Including the bar patrons. For a one man show he is super on top of it. Even upon taking my order offered recommendations and things to add to my orders to help compliment the lunch dishes.
I started with the Dragon Lady spring rolls. Got a slight kick to it with the jalapeño but he recommended the chili oil to it and it was devine. Kicked up the spice level.
Then I ordered the lunch special Filet Mignon Shaken Beef which comes with a soup and salad. The house made dressing is delicious. Ginger based but lighter and more bright than what you get elsewhere. The soup is their base broth of the Pho they make in-house. I thought it was incredibly flavorful against some of the other reviews. The beef plate comes sizzling hot alongside a heaping scoop of white rice, lime, and salt and pepper. Mason suggested squeezing the lime into the salt and pepper and dipping the beef. Good call. But also delicious, the beef in the chili oil!
The only thing I can remotely complain about would be every dish/plate was broken on corners.
All in all, this server needs to get into sales. He's on top of it and super personable. And I'll for sure be back.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Apr 4, 20233 check-ins
I enjoyed my shishito peppers as app from HH and the spring rolls were delish with their own made peanut sauce. I was too full for more and took some home.
The service was very good. As for ambiance, 2 tvs playing is not my idea of an eve out .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Sep 22, 2023
Pho was basic, crunchy noodles, bland broth, 3 slices of beef that were grey in color, old cilantro, basil and jalapeños.
Lemongrass chicken had no lemongrass flavor, noodles were way too salty and was over cooked for our liking.
If you're in the mood for really good Vietnamese food give Khai Hoan in Tempe a try as you won't be disappointed.

Pho not bad, I would go back for a second time. It's more catered to the adventurous foodie. Nothing too crazy on the menu. Service was good and the ambiance is quite relaxing. No florescence lights IYKYK.
