Can I bring my dog to outside seating? Thanks!

      A:

I want to say that you can. Seems to me that there were dogs present when I was last there. They are a very liberal establishment and likely support dogs being there.

Why is there a 10% "service charge" on takeout orders?

      A:

There is also a gratuity added for all diners at the restaurant I think it was 18% I was told when I made reservation that it was to be sure the servers were making enough with reduced capacity… more

Had a craving for fried chicken and waffles the other day. The Silk City Diner & Lounge happened to be the closest place which had them on the menu. This diner is a neat restaurant built around a diner car built by the Paterson Dining Company.

I arrived at 11 am and there were maybe 8 people eating brunch which is now served 7 days/week. I was quickly seated, brought water, and a menu. Though I already knew what I wanted I ended up ordering fried pickles in addition to fried chicken and waffles. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ended up having to get the chicken and waffles to go because I was scheduled for a last minute meeting. They were accommodating and quickly brought my check.

The food itself was 4-stars! Having been to many diners I can say most diners serve low quality food.

I would defiantly like to go back here when I have more time to enjoy the ambiance and maybe a drink or two.

Had a great time this past weekend at Silk City. I was seated on their covered outdoor patio which was nice and toasty considering it was like 40degrees. Started with some beers but their cocktails look amazing. The atmosphere is really eclectic and fun. The waiter was friendly and answered all our questions.

As vegetarians, we ordered the brussel sprouts, thai seitan wings, and the impossible burger. I am still thinking about everything a few days later. I can't decide what my favorite was but the seitan wings were so good. I will definitely be back to get them again.

After our meal we popped over to the club side for a show. We had bought tickets in advance and they just checked our name. The stage is really small but it was still a good time. I brought my earplugs and felt okay with my ears. On the club side it was a $15 minimum so we ended up having to skip drinks.

Overall, great place and I will definitely be back!

I've never been to silk city for brunch until today! Usually, I go there for their nighttime party atmosphere (in my youth, of course). We sat in their outside garden area (which was enclosed since it was the winter months). We had about 8 people and had reservations. Unfortunately, they wouldn't seat us until our whole party came. The decoration in the inside was interesting. There were Christmas decorations, lighted palm trees, autumn leaves lining the place, and Christmas lights in the middle of January.

The server was super friendly and helpful. Ended up getting a coffee (it is la colombe), which was refilled pretty quickly when finished. I also got the shorty omelette which was a short rib omelette that came with home fries. Never had short ribs in an omelette before. I felt like it would have been better in the middle of the omelette but it was instead part of the omelette which I didn't expect. There was a ton of onions in the omelette as well. The home fries were crispy but I wish there were more peppers and onions with it (some of my friend's home-fry dishes had a ton of pepper and onions). My one friend got a Diet Coke with refill and they charged for the refill as well (just an FYI if you decide to get a soft drink at this place).

I've been here a few times (have only sat in the outdoor seating though) and go back and forth on my feelings but my general consensus is that I like it. The food is always good, the portions are sizable, and I feel like the prices are fairly reasonable for the style of restaurant this is.

The outdoor seating is pretty spacious but I've had some odd experiences like the one time I went this summer there was near constant mist on my friend and I and it felt a little like a tropical rainforest. However, it's decorated well and has lots of plants and lights around.

Service is reliable and fairly fast. Would strongly encourage getting their mac and cheese for the table (it's a major favorite of mine). I've never been disappointed by the burgers either. The last time I went we tried the bread pudding and I was surprised by how good it was. Would recommend!

Overall, this is a great spot for crowd-pleasing casual dining (especially with people from out of town). They except reservations online too. The inside is unique and I believe it turns into more of a bar scene on the weekends!

Funny the reviews are so mixed here. Went to a show and then hit up the diner side for some food. Of the things we ordered almost all of them were very good...bread pudding, Korean cauliflower, fries, pierogis. My friend said the wings were just okay. My bread pudding with salted caramel ice cream was a great salty sweet combination, I would definitely order that again. I sampled a piece of the Korean cauliflower, the sauce was tasty and the breading was crunchy. I did not try the pierogis but my other friend said she enjoyed them.

Silk City is always pretty cute. Basic food, good crowd, friendly people. Servers are responsive and the outside deck is well insulated with heat lamps. The drink Purple Rain was pretty weak. Just get the liquor straight up (I did next round). I had the burger and fries. It was just ok. Nothing to write home about. Fries tasty and room temp but still crispy. My wife had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Good use of cheese, buttery bread and well toasted, and it was just ok.

I think that's the thing about Silk City- you get solid food and options but in the end it is just ok. We headed to the event space connected afterwards so the meal was sufficient for a night of drinking and dancing.

It's a plain diner breakfast with no hipster ingredients (i.e no rosemary-and-nutella waffles here). I happened to really like my eggs over hard and breakfast potatoes. Prices were reasonable, parking is easy, and they take online reservations. I ate inside, so it was quiet, warm and the oldey-timey diner feel was charming. Definitely on my short list when it itching for a greasy-spoon brunch.

Love the vibes in their garden area! Great place for big groups or small groups. Food is not bad, but not AMAZING. Service is good too! Ive had he crispy brussel sprouts, the empanadas, and their crispy chicken sandwich. All I would say are typical for a bar food type of place. I would return here for the vibes. In the evenings on the weekend it becomes a club and theres always a long line. Havent been to those but the music sounds good!

The food was sooooo good! Took my parents for a birthday brunch and we all had a good time. They have a liquor license so we were able to get a bottle of bubbly for mimosas all around. We had steak and eggs and shrimp and grits. No complaints at all! Service was good, staff is very attentive and friendly. The outside was warm and calm despite the cold and windy conditions. We will be going back.

This place was interesting to say the least since they have a beautiful garden outdoor sitting. Though we went on the day it rained the most we were ok. Nice and warm.

The service was great Dominque was our server and she was awesome.

The food was tasty and flavorful.

      Amazing experience!!!

I love this place .i have been going here since they have opened . After today will never return sadly . I paid and went to my car . A bald guy with a long beard followed me to my car and asked why I didn't tip and to never come back . I paid $122 for my food so I wasn't able to tip but this guy was super rude . I never saw him before . He was definitely racist , I don't see him following a white person to there car and asking them why they didn't tip and then telling them to never come back as if we didn't just spent $122 . Never coming back here and will be posting this incident on TikTok
