Service on point!
Superior selection all type of shoes!
Value is #1
The owner operator is well versed on men and women shoes! Carries brands that can be hard to find, but has them!
He's a one man shop and I try my best to get my shoes needs!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rhea F.Emeryville, CA1815Nov 6, 2023
A classic shoe store, selling quality shoes at affordable, very competitive prices.
There were several other customers; we were all given the space and time to browse that we needed, but got good service when we were ready.
I don't like shopping, overall, but ended buying three pairs of needed shoes because I needed them and prices for the quality was better than online.
Definitely my new go-to!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 11, 2023
My wife was looking for some shoes. She's a little tough to fit and we were tiring of buying online and either keeping shoes that weren't quite right or returning and all the hassle that comes with that.
She saw Shoe Spot on Yelp and we decided to cruise by. So glad we did! Street parking was no problem. The owner helped us. He was knowledgeable, friendly and took his time making sure she got what she was looking for. Having a professional actually measure the foot?
Insanity!
We walked out with a couple of pairs of Birkenstocks.
It was a great reminder. Shop local, shop small and support the Oakland community. Easy five stars. We'll be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 73129243Dec 13, 2022
Bought my first pair of boots from here the other day and I can say I'm coming back for when I need another pair.
Ive grown to be particular about my leather boot investments and I felt like I was asking a lot of questions and asked to try on multiple boots. Even with that, the owner was really attentive and helpful based on why the previous boot I tried didn't fit my checklist.
Another thing I thought was interesting is that I paid less for the boot at Shoe Spot than if I ordered directly from the company which is another reason why I'm coming back for my next pair.
My friend got a pair of Birkenstocks during this visit and she said her pair was $10-$15 cheaper than from Birkenstock directly. The owner said its been tough keeping them in stock. To me, for him not to mark the price up because of popularity says a lot about how he runs his business.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ethan O.Alameda, CA0264Dec 21, 2023
This is the ultimate Birkenstock shop with the ultimate service ... for over 25 years! For example we asked about a certain model (of which they have dozens!) and the owner said he had them in all 16 colors. He knew and explained everything you might want to know about Birkenstocks, and how to care for them. Took plenty of time attending to our every question and need with a smile!
My mom was with me and did not realize she had leaves stuck to the bottom of her shoe ... or that it was because she stepped in dog poop before entering the store. When she was trying on shoes the owner discovered it, and without saying a word took them outside and cleaned off the dog poop for my mom. Now that is truly over the top gracious customer service!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Franklin P.Los Angeles, CA42Jul 8, 2023

Also helped me realize that I have wide feet and need different sizes shoes. Thanks for the advice Gus. Appreciate you and the great convo we had.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 30, 2021Updated review
i noticed a "shoe sale" on the storefront when i drove by recently. it's the annual shoe sale in September! sadly, this is the 2nd year straight i won't be buying a shoe from Gustavo.
for decades plus, i bought 2-3 pairs of shoes a year. even before the pandemic, i was wearing my shoes less, from 12 hours a day to about 3 hours a day.
a also found about 5 pairs+ shoes scattered thruout the house, garage. i plan to use up a few before buying more. the shoes here are top quality and last a long time.
took pics of my unworn Rockport's
Shoe Spot has a large selection of leisure shoes and comfort daily wear shoes at reasonable prices!Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 16Oh no 0Sep 26, 2020Previous reviewthis year i didn't make it to Shoe Spot for their annual sale earlier this month. i did drive by a few times, once construction was happening.
i don't wear shoes 12 hours a day as before. just a few hours now. as a result, shoes don't wear out. Shoe Spot's shoes are top notch, they last awhile, comfy, and worth every $1.
during routine house cleaning, a few pairs of shoes were found in the garage last year, that's the main reason, i didn't buy a shoe this year.
the pandemic also is curtailing the amount of time i spend outside, roaming around.Sep 19, 2019Previous reviewAnother September and another "shoe sale" is ongoing. actually saw a sign up this year. maybe i went a bit late this year.
I've gotten used to the Rockport sold here. don't want to go about finding another shoe supplier as my feet really hurt when i try out different brands.
as usual my shoe size wasn't in stock. will check in again soon.
street is still dead. don't be tempted to park in front. meter person will ticket u unless a prepaid ticket is visible.Sep 5, 2018Previous reviewAnother September has come, dropped by shoe spot to see if the annual sales is in progress. though no sign was posted, "Mr. Clean" assured me that it was.
this is the only business left open on the block. Mexicali Rose closed permanently a month or so ago. mentioned to Mr. Clean i don't bother to browse other shoe stores as pricing is always a few hundred $$. Mr. Clean told me there isn't any more no shoe stores like his in Oaktown. sad to hear.
another satisfactory buy today. with tax each pair of shoe was under $100.
DON"T park in front of the store unless you pay for a metered ticket. it's not free. a block up or to the side is free parking.Aug 6, 2017Previous reviewhaven't been to the Shoe Spot in 2 years, that's how long my rockport shoes have lasted. now they are frailed, thin-soled and my feet are starting to ache.
just noticed previous review, storewide annual sale is in Sept.
was in the area so dropped in Shoe Spot to inquire about when sale is happening..Mr. Clean smiled at me, told me it was in September and not to worry. he's always taken care of me.
sold me a pair of browns at a good price, reminding him and myself i will be back for 2 more pairs in September,
Rockport came in handy next stop as i stood in line for 20ish minutes for Japanese fried chicken. feet didn't hurt at all.Apr 1, 2015Previous review9/16/15-Noticed "SALE" on the window driving by lately, annual event. forget the discount rate.
will get here soon to get some great rockford shoes. many fab brands in house.
finally dropped into Shoe Spot to get some new shoes. store has less seating cuz they have more inventory..
missed the '14 Sept. sale and the Lunar '15 one, the latter cuz it's not considered good luck to buy shoes during the Lunar New Year celebration.
Mr. Clean, as i characterize the proprietor, was more than willing to sell me rockports at the sale price (80) since i remember the dates.
i wish i could give him more biz but the shoes don't wear out since Mr. Clean told me they would last longer if i rotated the shoes. True, none has (totally) worn out after years of use. (feels funny wearing the shoes though, heels lopsided).Oct 17, 2011Previous reviewIt's been 2 years and 9 months since i visited Mr. Clean for shoes. It's taken that long for the shoes to wear out!
there are signs all over the window announcing "Sale!". this is the 3rd time this month i came trying to find a "free" parking space near here. today, found a couple. hate to pay for parking.
rockport suedes(99) were going for (74) so i grabbed it. will also get a black and brown version when they come in later this month.
they also have ladies shoes, men's work shoes and some athletic shoes
haven't had foot problems since Mr. Clean tooks care of my sole. Definitely will return!Jan 26, 2009Previous reviewdropped in to see " mr clean" to get some new shoes for the new lunar year so i can stomp on my enemies (chinese wise tale).
mr clean: "what brings you here?"
me: "shoes"
mr clean: "you've come to the right place"
after i made my selection, i told him this should hold me until his sale in september. he then told me there's a SALE IN FEBRUARY.. he offered to sell me the $95 shoe for $77 ahead of the sale.
wow! i told him the other stores wouldn't do that. now, i can save time and money by shopping in oaktown for shoes.
i learned from mr. clean about a rubbery substance one can apply to one's shoe heel to extend it's life. he ran out of it. this could also be bought at ace hardware. (1/28 "shoe goo"-5.79)Sep 30, 2008Previous reviewi've been seeing the "sale" sign in the windows for at least a week and was meaning to drop in. today i did. i asked mr. clean when the sale ends.
mr. clean: "today's the last day. you have good timing. we have a sale the entire month of september every year". he noticed my natural wide 10double e's and brought out an hush puppie and rockport samples for me to try.
he mentioned they normally sell in the 91-99 range but today they were $70-$77. since the shoes were pretty comfortable and they were "waterproof", i took them both.
parking is hard to find in this area during the twilight hours.Aug 2, 2008Previous reviewthis place is on the corner between the burrito store on 7th st. and the tamale queen. when i entered this small store, mr. clean greeted me. i haven't seen mr. clean since he retired from selling houshold cleaning goods on the telly decades ago. this store is divided between mens and women's shoes. there are more women shoes and models since women buy on impulse and not necessarily on need.
mr. clean told me men always buy only on need and only what they just finished wearing out (shoes).
i chance going in here cuz i didn't feel like going to brown bros in alameda for a pair of comfort shoes. i'm in luck! i see birchenstock, clark, rockport, hush puppie s et al shoes in stock.
after taking my measurements, mr. clean informed me i'm a rare double e. (yep, i have a natural wide stance). he went to fetch the shoes. the chosen rockport shoes (60ish) were a little tight. so i passed on it. he then offered a wider shoe, triple e (hush puppie54 ) which felt right. after a few days of wear, it feels good. the clarks (80) had only a few models available.
pros
-work shoes also available. also lots of hush puppies available which is the world's largest shoe company.
-large, LARGE selection of women shoes.
-knowledgable, friendly, fast service.
-shoes priced relatively fair for comfort shoes.
cons
-metered parking
-didn't see any sporting shoes. - Barbara A.Oakland, CA0111Sep 23, 2023
Shoe Spot carries quality shoe brands that can be ordered in your size. Owner of this small shop is helpful and personable. I have bought several pairs of Vionic shoes over the years that I have been very happy with.
