This store recently re-located from Eldridge Parkway and Westheimer to Westheimer near Dairy Ashford, where the Michael's store used to be. I bought some shoes online and had them shipped to this store. Got the shoes on sale, buy 1 get 1 at 1/2 off. It is a big store.

Decent selection. No wait time because almost no customers. Store is kept
organized but the bathroom was terrible. If you are in need of shoes, this is a quick get in and get out store.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 22, 2020
Finding shoes here is like throwing a dart at a dart board blind folded. Maybe there is something here, maybe not. Not the best prices but check online and you'll probably find a coupon. They have a decent enough inventory to stop by but be careful of your surroundings. It's kind of like a Payless but they at least don't sell the bottom barrel of shoes. You'll find name brand but it's not a huge selection. Again it's a toss up, you'll probably spend about 15-30 min here as a guy.

My name is Nathaniel Davis, and I am a Black male recently visited store #502 located at 12556 Westheimer in Houston, TX for the first time with my 16-year-old son Black son on 9-4-2012. The reason for my visit was to purchase a pair of non-slip shoes for my son to use for his class. Your store was recommended by a friend as a place to look for the items I needed. When I arrived at the store approximately around 12p CST, I walked in and inquired where I could find non-slip shoes. I was informed that they were along the wall. But before I could walk towards them, I was asked to leave my small backpack at the counter. I inquired as to why I needed to leave my bag and if women were being asked to leave their bags or purses as well. I was informed that purses are different, therefore they are not required to be left at the counter. I was told that this is the policy of your organization. This exchange was with a black woman(Rachale) who at the time, I was unaware, was the manager.
I observed that outside of my son and I, there were no other Black males or males present and that there were multiple women who had purses on them.
I did not leave my bag and, I kept it on my back with both straps so I could purchase my son's shoes from the area I was informed they were located. Once I was done with my purchase I asked for the store address, the name of the manager, and the corporate contact information so I could inquire as to why a policy is being implemented that actively discriminates against a person based on gender roles and possibly race. The black woman who I had spoken to when I first entered the store and I now know as the store manager(Rachale), came over and provided me with the store address and her name, but not the corporate contact information that I had requested. She also made a point to state that her requiring me to leave my bag while allowing women in the store to keep their purses, was the store policy and she was just trying to enforce it per the company. I informed her that I was contacting corporate to find out why they had her attempting to enforce a policy that targets people who don't carry bags identified as purses by your sales associate, which is subjective. Also, why a policy like this is OK, especially since it seems to only apply to men or maybe Black men who carry bags not considered purses. I feel like the reason I was told to leave my bag at the front was because I am a black male and I had a young black 16-year-old male with me, which in my opinion gave the impression that we were going to somehow come in and participate in illegal activities based on past experiences or media portrayal of Black males with bags. If this policy does truly exist, then your Human Resources office along with your legal department should review it so it will not allow for racial profiling and discrimination based on subjective observations.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Joyce S.Houston, TX52013Jan 29, 2016First to Review
Employees are friendly and helpful. Good brands of shoes and they have a nice variety. When I went there, there was a buy 1 get 1 half off sale and shoes on clearance; compared to other department stores that carry the same shoes I would say these prices are better. Since it's called Shoe Carnival, they keep a slight theme going; I got to spin a wheel to get up to $5 off my purchase.
