5/23/2020Updated review2nd time using shift trading in my leased car and the experience this time was even better than the last. Ivan was phenomenal - he initially came to just pick up my least, but he sold me on getting a $650 credit if I purchased one of their cars. He then had the car I was interested in delivered to my house within 30 minutes. If I was on a used car lot, the sales rep will pretend to look for that cheap priced car you saw and will try to bait and switch you on a higher priced car. Ivan was easy to talk to and went above and beyond. His customer service was 10/10. and at no point I felt uncomfortable or rushed. So much better than hanging out 6 hours at the dealership while they steal your trade in. Everyone should use shift instead of trading their car into the dealer. Especially if you want to get out of a lease without paying high fees.

10/31/2018Previous reviewI did an impulse buy with the new Honker lease app and picked up a 2019 Odyssey exl and a 2018 Accord Sport for my wife. The problem was that I still had a 2016 Pilot and a 2016 Civic I was still paying on. I scheduled an appt through theor app which gave me an appraised value for both cars. The day of the appt, two friendly reps came out to evaluate my cars with their iPad and honored their price they initially quoted through their app paid me on the spot via direct deposit on the difference of the purchase price and the loans I still owe through Honda finance. Had I gone through the dealer, I for sure will not receive any money back. I will definitely use them again in the future and will tell all my friends and family about them.

5/25/2020This review is on IVAN and my experience of buying a car from Shift.
I purchased during the COVID-19 pandemic and what better way to purchase than to everything delivered to your door! So first I scheduled a test drive and I forgot the guy's name who came but he was very cool and informative. Then I did finance another day and got approved! IVAN showed up with an iPad and my car and had me sign a few things then we were done within minutes! It was a Breeze! I stayed and spoke to IVAN for about 30 minutes after just about life and this pandemic we were in while he was waiting for his driver to pick him up. HE didn't have to keep dealing with me after but he did which I felt was great customer service. He also found out I am new at investing in stocks and gave me really good tips as he is an ECON major! Sweet!
So when I purchased the vehicle I saw the brake pads were low and I took it into Toyota so they can inspect it. After I sent the information to shift which they then took the car back and gave me a rental while they worked on it and they even extended my 7day return policy. The car is still with them at the shop so I will update this review once I get it back to see how everything goes. GREAT SERVICE from IVAN and the rest of the company.
Oh and my car is a 2015 Toyota Prius and it was $3000 below market value.

4/12/2020After some shady experiences on craigslist, I decided to look for a pre-owned car from a dealership. I didn't feel comfortable with many of the used car dealers I had researched (a lot of reviews about odometer tampering, bogus warranties etc) But I found Shift and was immediately into the fact that they have the inspection of each car listed on the website, so you can see any issues with a vehicle beforehand. Also its great to have the free Carfax report. Felt like all the cars were solid and reasonably priced. Had been looking for a car for a while and because of coronavirus quarantine decided to try out their no-contact test drive.
Carlos was our concierge and he was fantastic. Super nice, no pressure. It was raining so he hung out on our porch while I inspected and test drove the vehicle. We did the bank transfer and the paperwork on the spot and I bought the car (2010 Hyundai Santa Fe ). All in the prices are just a little bit higher than blue book but worth it for the peace of mind. Just to be safe I took it to my mechanic the day after I bought it (they don't let you get it inspected on a hoist before you buy, but you have 7 days to return it and get refunded in full). 6/25/2020My experience with Shift.com in the city of Whittier was beyond five stars. I received a phone call from Vanessa to go through a couple of questions to make that I had everything that was required before My scheduled appointment. She was very professional and took her time to make sure that I understood everything she had informed me about. When I arrived to my appointment I was greeted a staff member in there office. Who offered me a mask and notified me that someone will be out to help me very shortly. Moments later, I was greeted by a very friendly employee by the name of Ameed. He introduced himself followed by small talk. He then explained every detail regarding the Mazda 3 grand touring. I decided that I wanted to purchase the car in full. Ameed got the ball rolling and took care everything with the DMV registration along with all of the paper work which he had ready. He was very accommodating, friendly and had so much patience. Ameed works close with a financing member by the name of Tom. Together these guys are a excellent team. They have great communication skills with one another to run the show. Tom alone makes the experience of purchasing a vehicle well worth it. He was not pushy at all, which was very nice. He allowed me to speak about my concerns and questions I had about the cars warranty and payment options. I think I've called him about 20 different times and each time he called me right back while doing his best to answer my questions and resolve any issues I had on my end.
My car was delivered by a friendly female named Paloma. She greeted me with a smile and congratulated me on the purchase of my new car. She was very quick with communicating with her team to make sure all of the documentation and information was correct for me. I really appreciate the time, effort, patience and friendly energy of this company. I love everything about my car and I feel good that I was helped with their best team members. I will most definitely be referring my friends and family to purchase a vehicle. Thank you so much Shift Team!

Not completely sure what happened. Not sure the process of this company or where the miscommunication was or why it seems like some one is lieing but I'm disappointed. The associets are great and respectful but I dont know I was told one thing I went to go turn in my car and I was told the company couldn't buy my car when I was told they could for whole sale. Big inconvenience for me to go. What I had the biggest problem was that the associate that came out told me that art hadn't seen and wasn't aware of the lights on in the dashboard which is very strange because we spoke about it and reasured me it was ok. He even told me that he wont be able to drive it. So that I had to take it to the site they will take it off my hands. Sooooo really I dont know what's going on I'm disappointed

6/4/2020I received a letter from an auto financing company indicating that my application for the "sales financing of a motor vehicle" submitted by Shift was denied.
I haven't applied for the sale or financing of a car in over 4 years. I called Shift and requested a copy of the application that was fraudulently submitted IN MY NAME. Their financing associate, Dakota, told me that I could come to Shift and verify my identity but it was against company policy to release application information. "So you're telling me that you some one applied fort the sale and financing of a car at your establishment in my name, but even if I prove my identity I can not obtain a copy of the FRAUDULENT! application in an effort to ensure this does not happen again because it's against company policy?!?"
"Yes," Dakota said.
I guess I should have posed as Fake Eric in order to obtain the FRAUDULENT! application submitted IN MY NAME.
Now that is truly Shift-y.

5/21/2020Buying a car online - like, TRULY online since the true out-the-door price is given - was a brand new experience for me, if not a little scary. That said, after multiple bad experiences with traditional dealerships, I was ready to take a different approach to car buying. CarMax has a pretty good reputation, I've heard mixed reviews on Carvana, and had never heard of Shift. Not only did Shift have exactly what I was looking for, but the price was right AND they offered me the most for my trade-in. Plus, they have a 7-day return window. The car was exactly as advertised and Steve, my sales associate, was fantastic. The sale and trade-in were done right in my driveway. It was a very smooth process and I would do it again in a heartbeat. It's such a nice change of pace from sleazy salespeople trying to screw you over at dealerships.

6/23/2020I've had a great experience with Shift - not only did they offer the highest value on my car compared to competitors (Carmax, Carvana, etc.), they also went above and beyond with customer service. Micah on the inside team helped coordinate the trip to my home and was thorough and friendly over the phone. This morning, Art came to us for the appraisal and was equal parts friendly, professional, and informative. In all, an efficient and enjoyable transaction. We are super happy with our experience!

5/3/2020I had an appointment to have my car delivered by Carvana today. After numerous delays, they called me and said they would not deliver the car because it had some issues with it. I canceled and immediately went on the Shift website. I found this perfect 2018 Toyota Camry that looked brand you, I instantly applied and within half hour I had secured a test drive and 2 hours later i am the proud owner. Carlos delivered my car and walk me through the process, he was very friendly professional and really knew his stuff. Tom handled the financial paperwork perfectly. I am so happy that I decided to go with Shift, not only did I get a better finance rate than Carvana, but my monthly car payment is lower. I would definitely recommend Carlos, Tom and the entire shift staff to anyone. Thank you guys it was a great experience

5/16/2020I have been looking around for almost a year for a certain model and year Prius Advanced
I stumbled on Shift and voila !
The car I wanted at a good price with low miles.
Carlos my driver who brought the car out for me to see and test drive was nothing short of AMAZING !
Knowledgeable and helpful.
When we decided to purchase the car, Andrew brought the car back for the final signing of the paperwork, he too was fabulous
My only, minor issue was the back and forth email responses which I chalk up to Covid communication
Would I recommend ?

6/4/2020I was looking to sell my 2015 Nissan Rogue and Shift gave me the best offer compared to three local San Diego car dealers, who we're also interested in buying my car. Mike inspected the car and then walked me through the process. After completing the inspection he presented me with an offer that was lower than the highest car dealer. I mentioned the amount the car dealer had offered me and also showed him the written offer of all the dealer. Mike contacted the head office and send them the highest bidders offer. Within minutes he received a counter offer that was slightly higher than the highest SD car dealers offer. I accepted and it took no more than 15 minutes to transfer the title and to receive the payment to my bank. Mike did an excellent job and made it easy!!!!

4/2/2020Great experience with the Shift team in Whittier! We bought a Subaru 2017 Crosstrek for our daughter's 18th birthday. Looked for months for the exact color and car and of all the dealerships we visited, Shift had the cleanest car we had seen. It was in Great shape for a used car! No pressure from the sales team which we appreciated and once we made the decision and went to get the car, the paperwork was effortless. It took no more than 45 minutes to finalize the sale!! (That was the best part)

10/5/2017Previous reviewIncredibly impressed with my car-buying experience at Shift LA. To sum it up: private party-like, competitive pricing with CarMax-like transparency, accountability, and customer service.
How it works:
You check out the inventory on their website where they include detailed pictures, a free CarFax report, model info, and the results of their thorough vehicle inspection. You play around with the finance calculator and decide which car is potentially right for you. You schedule a test drive around your schedule and they will bring the vehicle to you at no cost! The peeps that bring the car are not in sales- they're "car enthusiasts". They will answer your questions without harassing you at all (I swear!), it's crazy. If you like the car, you go ahead and purchase it right there, on the spot, in minutes. Seriously. They can finance you, get all the registration, documentation, etc. done in under 30 minutes...keys in hand, in your own home! How about the car enthusiast...what happens to them? Uber.
If you're not sold after the test drive then they will simply drive the car back to their warehouse, no hassle, and still at no cost to you. You can schedule up to two of these remote test drives before they ask that you instead come to their local warehouse to continue test driving other vehicles.
Throughout the entire process their communication is on-point. They are a relatively new company, especially in the LA market and are eager to please. With your car purchase you automatically get a 5 day/200 mile No Questions Asked return policy (yes, you read that right!) and a 30 day/1000 mile limited warranty. During any of these windows would be a great time to have your car independently inspected by your mechanic. If they find something, all Shift asks is that you contact them before going through with any repairs. They'll ask for a copy of the findings to discuss with their shop and if need be will literally send out a car enthusiast to pick your car up at your convenience and take it back to their facility where it will be inspected and repaired (if the issue is legitimate and covered by the warranty of course)...again, at no cost to you. Then, they'll schedule a time with you where they can once again drop the car off at your home/work/favorite pizza restaurant. The reason I'm even going into such detail about this part is because I actually went through this with them, and the entire time, couldn't believe they were actually doing this.
Is this real life?
Yes, this is real life.
Oh yeah, and they buy cars as well (gotta get their inventory from somewhere!). Although I cannot attest to the quality of that process I can't imagine it being very different than what I experienced and covered above.

4/26/2020I've never financed a car before and was very skeptical to do so with shift since it seemed really easy and too good to be true. I decided to test drive a car, and it went really well! The day after, James took it back to me and he helped me finish up all the paperwork and finalize my purchase. He was really knowledgeable and answered all my questions- along with suggesting things that he thought would be good. I appreciated it very much!
I got two of my friends who are in the market for cars looking into shift to finance a car after I told themcabout my experience. I definitely reccomend it! :)
Side note: Every single time i contacted shift, whoever I ended up talking to was super friendly and very informative. They all know what they're doing and answer any questions without hesitation! Its great, and the customer service is amazing.
