Finally find a hidden gem in Daly city. The food is the best. I like snow crab and lobster tail with atomic sauce and explotion for the spicy level. The place so nice in westlake shopping center, easy to find parking. The waiters so nice and polite. The food is fresh and taste is strong. Make me addicted. So I gave $1,000 for the $50 bill (2000%), because I am so happy

I freaking love Shaking Crab!!!
First, it's near my place.
Second, the servers are friendly.
Third, they have enough table and the wait is not that long.
Come try them out!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 24, 2023

At one time, these seafood Cajun joints were popping up everywhere. Now there are few of them and the better ones are a further drive.
FOOD:
For our party of 9, we ordered one of the combos, a pound of shrimp, a pound of clams, a Dungeness crab, two orders of garlic noodles, and two orders of fried oysters. We also added corn and sausages. Like any other Cajun place, you get a choice of seasoning in the bags (Cajun, lemon pepper, garlic butter, or atomic sauce) and level of spice.
Most of the food was disappointing. The garlic noodles were soggy and bland. The Dungeness crab that came in the combo was TINY. The additional crab we ordered was a bit bigger though I estimate it to be still under a pound. The clams were small. The only good thing that came out of the seafood bag were the decently sized shrimp. The fried oysters were oddly shaped (think mozzarella stick) but that along with the fried sweet potato fries were good and worth ordering.
SERVICE:
There was a lack of service. We ordered from one waitress then she came by our table when we were brought the wrong an order of fried scallops instead of fried oysters. After that, she never came by to check on us. Any time we needed something, we had to ask whatever server that passed by. Unlike other Cajun places, you aren't given a bucket or a bowl for your shells so they just pile up on your plate or table.
Will I return? Spending over $400, probably not. I'd prefer to go across the bay or down south for a better place.
WHAT TO KNOW:
*Plaza parking
*Credit cards are accepted
*Reservations can be made via phone but there were plenty of tables availableHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 29, 2023
This is my first time trying shaking crab. They have a lot of seating available. They have 4 set menus options but no subsotutions
C1 = 1.5 lbs of crawfish, 1lb muscles, 2 potateo, 2 corn, 4 sausage
C2 =1.5 lbs of shrimp, 1lb muscles, 2 potateo,2 corn, 4 sausage
C3= crab or lobster, 1 lbs shrimp, 2 corn, 2 potateo, 4 susage
C4 =crab or lobster, 1 lbs shrimp, 1lb clams, 2 corn, 2 potateo, 4 susage
They offer 4 different types of sauces, and you can choose different type of spice level. The rice is about $3 a bowl.
We ordered c2 with garlic and dynamite sauce, 4 rice and fries, and strawberry ice cream, and it was $92. The fries were a miss for me. It lacked salt. But it's really crunchy.
The sauce was delicious and not overly salty like other places I have tried. The sauce was delicious with the rice. But in the end it got really thick and a bit oily for myself.
The staff was nice. But forgot alot of stuff. We had to ask for a spoon, fork, plates. Come on how do we eat rice with no spoon or fork. And without a plate or pale to put the scraps of the shrimp head or muscles where were we suppose to put it. They never asked if we wanted anything, if we were ok or not. They kept focusing on their frequent customers.

Yooo
Atomic Explosion (the spiciest option) shrimp head on, cajun fries, (sometimes) rice, and either a corona or coke. That is all. Sometimes, I like to mix it up and get something new to try with my basic order.
Service is friendly. I always ask for a spoon to scoop the sauce onto my fries or rice. I forever miss their happy hour deals that would go for $20 1/2 lb two choices. Great dining option at Westlake. Restaurant itself has dim-lighting and can be a bit noisy at times since so many people dine here.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0Sep 22, 2018Previous reviewHmmmm.....
It is my go to for crawfish in the area.
They offer $1 oyster wednesdays and 3-6pm happy hour prices on weekdays! Be mindful that the happy hour prices mean there is no corn, sausage, or potato included. So ehh, it's okay if you dont make it to happy hour unless you really are on a tight budget.
Get the lychee soju large! It's BOMB.
I usually get shrimp and crawfish, sometimes, I get the shrimp and mussels. Honestly, get what you think you will enjoy and see how it goes.
The cajun fries are addicting and the sauce is decent. I have been getting the atomic (all) sauce.
I brought my golden spoon to use here on one occasion, and I ended up forgetting it. Then, six months later, I return to the resto, and they still had it! Another time, it was my boyfriend's bday, and I asked if they sing for the customer and she said no, but she sang anyways! Superb service! Quick and friendly!
My first 10-15 visits, I was sure that this is my number one favorite, but now.....
It isn't anything out of this world. It is a bit on the buttery side which I used to enjoy, but now, I am feeling more spicy cajun flavor. I'll make it a point to indulge in the other flavors and maybe even get crab for once to see if this can be my go to again. Fingers crossed! - Mar 1, 20241 check-in
Came here for dinner. Chill place and decent place if you're craving for cajun shrimp and crab. Place seems small but they can accommodate all sizes of party since they got different size of tables. I decided to get 1 lb of shrimp; got the mild spiciness and as for my seasoning, got the mix/all of the above which includes a mixture of all of their seasonings. And also had some add-on such as one cobb of corn and sausages which comes in 6 pieces into my bag of shrimps. Their shrimp is plump and juicy and blend well with the seasoning. Also had their sweet potatoes fries which is pretty good and their garlic noodles which was okay only. After you order your food, they provide you the bib and gloves right away so you don't get your clothes and and hands dirty. They also provide sliced limes and sauce cup as well in case you want to dip your shrimp with lime, black pepper, and salt. They bring out your food quick too. Be prepare to use a lot of napkins as it can get messy. Friendly staffs. Plenty of parking spots as it is connected with the Westlake plaze. Definitely will come back

Omg where do I even start!!! The food here? AMAZING!!!! I go here for the food not the service. Server wise they are a bit pushy and they need to be reminded to bring things + they don't check in often enough. But if you can look past that and get down to the purpose of the restaurant which is to eat!?!?! AMAZING

When I saw that this place was only 3 stars I was starting to keep my expectations low, but this place really really surprised me! I thought it was absolutely delicious and affordable!!! I did think the sauce was a little oily at first, but once it's better mixed and you get to the garlic chunks, it's so so good. Also, GET THE CAJUN FRIES. My boyfriend and I devoured them because they were so good. I will definitely come back here, please don't let the reviews deter you!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Oct 1, 2023
I ordered C4 aka 1 dungeness crab, 1lb shrimp w/ head on, 1lb clams, 1lb crawfish, 2 corns, 2 potatoes & 4 sausages for $94. I chose the atomic sauce which was a combination of garlic butter, original Cajun and lemon pepper. The Cajun was good, but I would avoid the garlic butter next time because it was extremely oily that you can see the saturated fat floating. I got the mild sauce and it was nice spicy. You can feel a bit of spicy and it's from the garlic. It was a lot of food for 2 people that we took the leftovers home and ate it for the next few days. This place was worth it and would come back to try other things on the menu. Great service as well.

I have to update my review as I've gotten it the past few times and the food has been good so far. I would say 3-3.5 stars out of 5 since it is pretty average, but when you're craving seafood it does hit the spot.
My fiance and I typically get 2 lbs of shrimp atomic + on fire. We do add corn and sausage to our bags. We also get a side of garlic noodles and some rice and our total ends up to be around $65ish?
I have to say that the roasted garlic they use inside their sauce hits the spot and dipping the shrimp into the sauce is pretty good. Only recommendation I have is to fully shake the sauce around so the shrimp can get coated. For to-go orders, I feel that they already have the sauce prepared and they add the shrimp on top. So if you do end up eating the top shrimp, they're not coated and they're pretty flavorless.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1Jan 5, 2022Previous reviewI'm surprised I haven't written a review about this place the first time I tried it, but better late than never.
Shaking Crab is located at Westlake near Kevin's Noodle House (it's closer to the Chase Bank on the corner) with plenty of street parking (or you can park at Safeway and walk). I had this a few times before, which was decent to say the least, but this recent trip just bothered me a bit.
The place wasn't super busy, but it was busy. We were seated right away and given a menu. I typically order 1 lb shrimp and 1 lb clams with all the sauces combined at medium/super spicy. It's usually my go-to when I want cajun/seafood boils. My boyfriend ended up getting 2 lbs of shrimp and ordered some garlic noodles.
Pricing of the seafood:
-Shrimp: $17.99 per pound (x3)
-Clams: $16.99 per pound (x1)
-Garlic Noodles: $7.99
Total came out to be around: $100+ with tip I believe.
I have to say, the only thing that's giving it a couple stars is the garlic noodles. They were decent with a good amount of garlic and flavor. What tasted off to me was the shrimp tbh. It felt like I had drank whole gallon of unfrozen shrimp water in my mouth. It left a weird aftertaste in my mouth and I couldn't fathom eating anymore. The clams were ok, but needed to be cleaned a bit better since there were some grains of sand I bit down on. The flavor of the sauce was ok, but it wasn't spicy as I wanted it to be either. I've had better before and I know they used to be better.
The taste of the seafood I received left a poor taste in my mouth. I understand that restaurants are struggling right now and the cost of food is expensive, but today was not the night tbh. I've had better from here before. The quality of food has gone down since the last time I've ate here.
I'd recommend going into the city, Oakland, San Mateo, or even SJ for better seafood tbh.
