Secure Moving & Storage

Curtis and the guys were so great. They had fun with the move, played some good music to keep movin and took great care of our things. We had A LOT of stuff and they never once complained or even looked frustrated. They were running behind for another job but never made us feel rushed and it was getting late in the day. Thank you for all you guys did to get us scheduled in last minute. I would recommend you all to anyone!!

Buy the extra insurance if you have expensive, heavy or bulky items. The guys wrapped everything and tried but a lamp, coffee table and leather chair were completely destroyed. $0.60 per lb didn't even begin to cover the $3000 I paid for the items, they took $50 off the bill vs me fight the insurance for $120. My date was scheduled to make sure they had a light job in the AM, as I told them I had big heavy items. The 3-4 hour estimate turned into 6 and they were unloading until 8:30pm after not getting there until 2:30 vs 12:00 quoted. They worked really hard but were exhausted after 2 big jobs. The truck was packed poorly causing the damage.

I have never left a review before, but the experience with Secure moving was so HORRENDOUS I thought other people deserve to know before choosing them. We had used them for long distance moving, so I cannot say how they are for local moving.
First, I called to confirm the time of moving a few days prior, they said 8AM...showed up around 11AM casually without saying much.
There were 3 movers...we asked if they would wrap our furnitures to protect it, they said no, they would lay down a sheet on the floor of the truck and then place everything on it, even the mattresses...fine. They moved our furnitures from upstair down, one of the guys made a hole in our wall of our new house about 3x3cm and about 2-3cm deep, this was from him slipping and the desk slam onto the wall he said.
Second, when our stuff arrived to our new place, which was on time (I'll give them that), about half of our boxes were deformed and/or smashed, like it was thrown around or other heavy items placed on it, some stuff inside got damaged, not a big deal cuz it was just household items. However, almost EVERY SINGLE PIECE of our furnitures were damaged.
I took about 20 images of broken items to send to Derek. Our coffee table's legs broke off. Our newly bought study desk in the office had 2 legs broken off. Our wooden dining table we just bought 1 yr ago had dings and scraped on all corners. 2 new leather office chairs had leather and the metal arm rest being scraped off as if it as dragged around on the ground. None of our mattresses (x4) were wrapped, and so it came so filthy like it was thrown around on the ground back and forth with stains I couldn't remove (we bought all of our mattresses new within the last year). Our huge sofa we bought 1 yr ago had stains on every single piece that I tried stain remover and washing but couldn't come off. Our bed frames damaged. The list goes on and on of every single furniture pieces. Pretty much nothing was undamaged!
Third, 2 of our boxes with kitchen silverware were missing. We let them know and they said they don't know what happened. Some of the stuff they packed in those boxes they lost were gifted to us from our wedding, so can't replace those...
Fourth, we tried to contact Derek and the office many many times to let them know about these issues...never able to reach Derek. No email replies or phone call replies. We have to keep calling to bug the secretary to ask her to reach Derek for us. Finally after a month...We got a generic email back from Derek with a few lines apologizing that didn't sound sincere and it was like an auto message. He attached the claim papers to file for damage, which is like .60$/lb, which is nothing when our furnitures are all new we bought a year ago.
I was in tears and so upset with this experience but I kept reminding myself it's all material things we can replace. It's true, but it still sucks to experience it. We had moved cross country a few years ago and used a different moving company and they were so good, all of our stuff came intact bc it was wrapped. Unfortunately they didn't service Kansas. So we read yelp review and found secure moving and thought they would be good, but ended up like this.
I hope that if u do chose this company, your experience will not turn out like ours, I do not wish it upon anyone to go through what we did with Secure moving.

These guys did a fantastic job for me! There were very professional, engaging and friendly. They offered to help move even more stuff than I originally scheduled them for. If I have to move again, I'll definitely give these guys a call. It was easy and enjoyable.

I've used movers more than 5 times in my life and Secure Moving was probably the best I've worked with. They took every precaution to protect my furniture and my home. No walls were scratched or dinged. They also worked quickly and put all of my items in the rooms that I wanted them in in my new home. I would definitely recommend Secure Moving and Storage to friends and family!

Woke up on move day and although the forecasting geniuses on the local news predicted only 'light, periodic drizzle', Kansas City woke up to a sheet of ice, accidents all over town and a new forecast informing us that things would keep coming down until noon.
We had contracted with Secure Movers a month earlier for 8am move from Overland Park to deep Olathe.
Upon waking up at 6:45 and seeing the weather we didn't know what to do. Could we still move in and fulfill our obligations to the new Apartment community? Were we going to have to ask off of work after having done so a month earlier for this specific date? Would we be charged if we couldn't get from where we were staying, in my parents' home (also in Olathe) to Overland Park to let the guys in and would we be able to get to Olathe to let them in the new apartment. These are the moving days that show up in movies!
By 6:45 the office were on the phone to us, before we even had time to figure out what was going on.
They assured us that we weren't going to be charged for anything and not to leave or put ourselves in danger. They kept up with conditions and called to let us know they were going to the OP location where our things were and would let us know if conditions were safe for us to head that way in our small Civic.
Sure enough, they assured us the highway we would be taking was completely safe, but not to proceed if we felt uncomfortable. If so, they would not charge us and would arrange for a day as soon as possible that was comfortable and safe for us.

We decided to head that way. The roads were exactly as Chris and the guys said.
Despite the 20 degree temperatures and wind, they had the truck loaded in 15 minutes.
They met us in Olathe shortly thereafter.
From start to finish they were done in under an hour!

I cannot stress the kindness and malleability of these guys and the dispatch office. Super cool folks. Genuinely kind.

We found them on Yelp and home after reading this you will give them your business. They do very small to big moves. They are priced just a notch under most of the competition and the prices were more than reasonable.

We will always use them!

Canaan and Kendall were absolutely amazing. They were fast and efficient and very friendly. They were careful with all our furniture and fragile items. I would definitely recommend Secure Moving and Storage to any one looking to move.

Devin and Kyle moved me on a Saturday had some stairs at the pickup and some heavy furniture they where very professional and did a great job. I would request them again when I move

The movers were 3 hours late and very careless. They dinged my walls in my new house, broke my sons bed, and because they were 3 hours late, left stuff I wanted in my basement in my garage. I am a single mom and is not easy for my to move the boxes. Also I had a large floor rug that instead of rolling up they just casually folded up and threw in my basement in my storage room since I can't have it on my floor yet. Very displeased.

I'm very disappointed with Secure Moving & Storage Company. I obtained several quotes from other moving companies, and decided to use Secure Moving & Storage, due to their competitive quote and their 5 star reviews.
On January 27, 2018, I was moving from a 3 bedroom apartment to another 3 bedroom apartment, about 10 minutes away from each other. I provided an inventory list of all of my furniture and misc. items/boxes. I was given a quote of 3 hours estimated @ 2 man rate of $85 per hour.
It took from 8:15 am till about 7 pm (10 hours). Highly underestimated the time. I complained to the owner, which at that time, he deducted $100, because I never budgeted for that kind of money, and I was very upset. His movers also offered to continue to put my furniture back together, while off the clock. The movers were very respectful and courteous, but the owner, never took ownership or responsibility.
Once I finally got moved in and boxes moved away from my furniture, which took about 5 - 7 days, I noticed a lot of my new furniture had been damaged. Several wood chippings, scrapings, etc. (Estimated almost $1,000 in damages). I called the owner Derek, to make a complaint on Feb 2nd, and he made it look like it was my fault, since I didn't call him within the first few days. I've made several calls to have him turn this into his insurance company, as of February 27th, and he still hasn't turned in my claim form. I sent pictures on February 9th, and it still hasn't been resolved, nor has he responded.
I'm not sure where they got their 5 star rating from, but it will never come from me. I called and talked to Mike on February 27th and explained to him, if I didn't get a call back from Derek, within the next day, I will make further phone calls. I've already contacted the Better Business Bureau and my next phone call will be to the Attorney Generals Office, and the Media.
If anyone ever considers moving, remember, cheaper is not always better and the quotes are not worth the paper it's written on. I would advise you, to never use Secure Moving & Storage Company.
