I moved to Seattle in May of this year and I was searching for someone to do some improvements on my new home. Why wouldn't I call someone that boasts to be Seattle's best handyman. Pleasantly surprised and willing to bet he IS Seattle's best.
They were honest and professional. They gave me cost saving alternatives that I imagine other, similar, companies wouldn't.
Awesome job guys! I'll post pictures soon!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Molly S.Auburn, WA01Apr 30, 2023
Outstanding workmanship! Had a water damaged ceiling repaired and Louis is truly a magician. Bill and Luke were very professional, quoted up front pricing and stuck to it. The work was completed quickly and the area was always kept clean. We are looking forward to our next project with them.

I bought a livingsocial and tried to schedule with them.
Called them twice, no call back. Finally talked to them, he asked me to go to their website and submit a form. I did that immediately, didn't hear back until 3 days later.
Talked to the guy on the phone, asked him how it works, he said he will just come and if they need any part, they will go get it, and then they will charge the hours for getting the part, etc.
I asked whether there is anything I can do to help making sure they get the parts, like taking pictures and sent to them. He didn't seem like happy for the suggestion.
Basically, it sounds to me he just want to make it possible to extend the hours and charge more as they are working by hour.
I immediately called livingsocial to cancel the deal. I don't know whether they did a good job or not, but they are definitely trying to make it hard for u to communicate with them.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - michelle g.Seattle, WA061Feb 23, 2014
I would argue that some of Seattle's Best Handyman's business practices are borderline crooked. I bought a LivingSocial deal and had a similar experience as some of the other Yelpers, where 2 guys showed up so I was charged a double hourly for the 3+ hours it took to install a small closet kit and a mirror (I was billed for 6+ hours). I also felt like the pricing was explained very hastily and I didn't have a good sense of how it worked until after the work was done. In the end, I might have chalked it up to a learning experience but halfway through the work, one of the guys started installing the clothing dowel directly ABOVE a shelf (rendering it useless). I literally told him, never mind, just leave it, I DON'T want you to install it. They cut some of the wood shelves too short and now there are gaps between the wood and the metal clasps holding them on. It just doesn't look good.
When the other guy was installing the mirror, he came out to find me to ask if I might want the mirror over a half inch here or up a half inch there. It felt like a pretty sneaky way to buy some extra time. I ended up paying almost three hundred dollars over my Living Social deal. And the work was just. not. good.
I got this work done about a year ago and it still bothers me so I decided to finally write a report. I hope things have changed for this business..Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kris C.Seattle, WA03Jan 19, 2017
I used Seattle's Best handyman for a project that I needed done for the company I work for. We have a corrugated plastic roof that was failing in the rainy Seattle winter, causing excessive noise in the work environment and damage to items being stored in that area. I reached out to Seattle's Best Handy Man in hopes that they would take the job most roofing companies wouldn't. With a simple inquiry via the website and phone call, we had a date set up for them to come by with a rough estimate over the phone. Easy.
Upon their arrival, the owner gave worked with me to get a more accurate quote and explain everything. The quote came out higher than the phone quote, not surprising as he had now seen the damage and what needed to be done. this was fine. He did bring a team of three workers with him to do the job. This was a little unexpected as i would have expected three people maximum total for such a job. However, the quote was reasonable for man hours. Nothing suck out as a red flag, so we moved forward. Three guys started on pulling the old roofing off, while another went to get supplies. As i would check-in throughout the day, everything seemed on time and on budget. Upon completion of the project, we were given a updated invoice which had a SIGNIFICANTLY higher grand total than the original quote. This was extremely surprising. When asked, they pointed to the total man hours for the project. this seemed a little fishy and suspect. However, we had a new roof that looked to be quality and were told would hold up for years to come.
Now, 9 months later, we are dealing with a failing roof from materials of low quality and poor craftsmanship and product on Seattle's Best Handyman's end. The previous roof lasted 10+ years of Seattle weather. After visually inspecting the damage to the new roof, their is an extreme lack of quality to the construction that was done.
All in all, I would not use Seattle's Best Handyman for any project moving forward, personal or business related. Much like others experiences, they seem to be nice enough people at first, but have some extremely sub par business practices.
Don't be fooled by this Yelp page for them- https://www.yelp.com/writeareview/biz/oBL_xcna0heG9elMx7wLdA?return_url=%2Fbiz%2FoBL_xcna0heG9elMx7wLdA

I first found these guys through a Living Social deal about a year ago. They did great work for me then installing a new outlet and repairing some drywall. Just had them back to rescreen a porch door and fix a broken stair rail. Once again they were fast efficient and professional.
I had no problems with scheduling, or communication that other folks have mentioned here. When we spoke on the phone I told them roughly what I needed done so they knew which tools to bring & advised me on what parts I should have on hand for them to do them job once they arrived.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A C.Silicon Valley, CA11620Oct 30, 2012
I also bought the LivingSocial deal. When I scheduled my appointment I explained the job which was super simple - hang a curtain rod from a cement ceiling. I didn't have the drill or ladder to do it myself. I was confident it would not take more than two hours (which was what the deal was for, two man hours) and it didn't. It took 1.5 hours even after they went out to buy the part. However, they brought two men without letting me know in advance. One watched while the other did all the work. They charged me for three man hours because there were two men. They charge $80 per hour PLUS tax. They also charged me for 70% of the part they purchased which was $10. They knew exactly what they were doing, which was taking advantage of the situation and ripping me off. To make matters worse, they had an argument in front of me and they threw their tools on my white bedspread. In total I paid over $165 to get a curtain rod hung.

I had similar experience with Eversave deal. They wouldn't set up appt. on phone I had to use the website which I did twice. Called again and left msg. along with an email. No response. Eversave wouldn't do anything but give me back $ on my account with them. That was useless as you could only use a couple of $ at a time or not at all then it expired. I also do not recommend using Eversave due to poor customer service!

I too bought the Livingsocial deal. Attempting to get an appointment scheduled was a nightmare. It was as if they were trying to ensure that I could not use the coupon. They succeeded - I gave up. It a lesson to avoid this company and such Livingsocial deals. It's a scam. While they can cheat people in the short term word will get around in the long term!

Like most other comments, I had a fairly negative experience with this company. I had the LivingSocial deal also, and was frustrated when I was told once they were there that it was two man hours, so really only an hour. One guy needed to go get some parts, so the other guy stayed. He was actually able to get some decent work done while the other was gone (for nearly 45 min!!), but then I had nothing more for him to do. The other guy was still gone, so that was lost time. When the parts guy finally returned, they finished up the job fairly quickly and tallied my total up to the tune of an extra $200 bucks on top of the coupon. He rattled off how it all worked out so quickly that I didn't realize what it all meant until I had a chance to look at it later. He had charged me tax on the part (when he wasn't charged tax according to him), and I should have challenged him on the actual time there. Add insult to injury, he noted that he bought some other stuff for himself while at the store...that time on my tab!
All in all, the work seems ok (but haven't really checked it out), but I would caution you to get your own parts if you can. Definitely seemed like they padded the bill in more ways than one.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
