Can i bring my own food in?

      A:

You definitely can. The food there is pretty good, it just takes a long darned time. I was kinda bummed to wait 25 minutes for food, when I could have been playing!

What an amazing experience for the whole family! The kids loved every bit of it from the water slides that are part of the original Park to the new additions with the big drops from five stories up and everybody's favorite the wave pool. We just couldn't get enough and went back for the second day and I think this will be a yearly trip for us!

I would say it is a little bit pricey and more than I was expecting but if you're in town you could at least try to go for one day and I'm sure you won't regret it if you just try to do everything you possibly can in one day.

You might even want to float the river if you're just in town for the weekend on the second day and that would save you a little bit of money. It's pretty easy to buy tubes at HEB and chart your own path!

It might even be better to go on a Sunday/ Monday versus the weekend so you can avoid the crowds and the lines.

We stayed on-site this week at Shlitterbahn in New Braunfuels. Our party of (4) checked in with ease on Sunday, to stay through Tuesday.

The accommodation at the Resort was perfectly adequate for what you need; a place to unwind at the end of the day/a place to have a mid-day break while enjoying the park.

The beds were very comfortable and clean, however keep in mind there can be numerous families staying around you separated by what might as well have been 1/2 cardboard walls. So it can get a bit noisy. Other than the occasional child screaming, the rooms were nice and we enjoyed our stay very much. There is a separate pool for the guests for after the park closes which is nice as well. Additionally, there is a sand volleyball court, and an outside movie premier every night for families to attend! Everyone seemed nice and respectful to other families enjoying their time.

As for the park, it is a selling point that when you stay on-site you get "early access" to the park before the general public. You do get in early, only to find 3 or so rides are actually open to the early crowd. We we're disappointed to find out most the attractions were closed until the official opening time. Security seemed to check everyone and their bags well, which I appreciate considering the volume of people.

NOTE: you CAN bring in your own cooler!! This is a great opportunity to pack lunch/snacks and save a lot of $$.

As for all the other rides we really enjoyed the experience overall, the water seemed clean and there were lots of staff in the water skimming for debris/ as well as helping people along especially the tube rides. There was only one tube ride (Congo) that was open to empty into any actual part of the river itself. Water shoes are a must!!

I understand a lot of the reviews complaining about their old favorite attractions being shut-down, but as someone who had never been to this location I found the park had more than enough to do. I do feel they probably over-reserve, and they should limit the capacity more, as by mid-day wait times can be 45-1 hour for one ride.

Checkout from the resort was stupid easy, you just leave. They automatically check you out at your designated time!

Shlitterbahn in New Braunfules is a great getaway in texas, staying on-site for a few days is the best way to do it, and take full advantage of what the park has to offer. I would be back for sure.

Massively disappointing from the perspective of someone who has frequented the park over the years. It's been at least 3 years since I've been last and I understand the area has grown. However, the park has not and it's gotten both prohibitively more expensive and it is DUMB packed with very little shade. Unless you are buying a blast pass don't even bother coming.

The park has become inherently classist so unless you're prepared to drop hundreds as a family just stay home. Because otherwise you'll just spend all your time queuing in line for hours. Was there from open till 5pm and got to ride a whole 4 rides with my family. It sucks to see things that were once great be overtaken by profit and greed.

Schlitterbahn, PLEASE close down ONLY one ride at a time for construction. We were beyond disappointed with so many rides closed, these were the long rides that would help DECOMPRESS the rest of the park; The Falls and Hillside Tube Chute. The Congo was also closed, but due to staffing and the Cliffhanger only opened a few hours before park closing (also due to staffing). This forced SO many ppl to the remaining rides and made for a 1-2hr wait for everything else. I used to really love this park, we drove from Dallas for the weekend and we left a day earlier than we planned because there wasn't anything left to do in the park unless we wanted to wait 2 hours. PLEASE be strategic about ride closures, thinking about how it will affect your visitors. Isn't 9 months out of the year (Fall/Winter/Spring) long enough to do construction? So bummed...

We have stayed here before and enjoyed ourselves, unfortunately this time they charged us 500 a night to stay in an old shed. Pease see the picture below to see what we walked into. We went to complain they said take it or leave it, but we can't accommodate you, not even passes into the park or a discount. So we left. Shame on y'all. A wasted opportunity.

Don't normally do reviews but this place was terrible. $200 to drink bugs and wait 4 hours for one ride. From no bbq sauce for my brisket, to not even any coke in the fountain. Last weekend or not you should still strive for excellent service. Gentle man working at the pizza booth by the dragon heated pool & bar was the worst person to have for customers. Got everyone's pizza wrong. Forgot pizzas; and even wasn't cutting the pizzas. Did nothing but stare with a blank face.

If you were planning on doing a day trip here, spend it at the river! At least you know you'll get bugs there.

Do not waste your money, go to the river! There are so many better places to swim for free! :)

Just left this place on 8-20-23, and things have drastically changed. So much for being family oriented.
Everything is overpriced and so many rides closed at this time, why not offer a discounted rate this time in the season. They are all about their profit. They over manage the preferred parking lot spaces at $35.00 and up per car. They direct the people who come early, to park the furthest from the gate, and those that come later have closer parking by the gate! The park is now a pricy overrated park, they needs to put families back in the equation. This will be my last time buying season

Where do I begin! It IS TERRIBLE! I urge you all to do your homework. On TripAdvisor they have 4 star, but if you actually read reviews you will see the most recent ones are mostly 1 star. Not only a waste of money, but harassed.
My son (age 23), my daughter (age 14), my son's girlfriend (age 21) and my daughter's friend (age15) all went to the park 2 days in a row. First day they didn't get to ride a signal ride. That should of been the huge red flag not to go back, but the kids were thinking they would have fun the 2nd time. The second experience was worse than the first. My son and his girlfriend waited two hours in a line. They were hot and decided to go to lazy river to get a break from heat. The lazy river was full and you couldn't get in without waiting. So my son went and purchased a white claw. This was the only alcohol they had all day. He was sitting with his girlfriend, and she asked for a drink, and so with nothing to hide, my son gave her a drink. She is 21 years old so they were just hanging out and NOT thinking someone was hard up to get them in trouble by accusing them of false accusations. A security guard came over to my son and said he was passing a drink. He said, yes I passed the drink to my girlfriend because she wanted a drink and she's 21. They asked for their IDs. My son gave them his ID yet his girlfriend didn't have her ID on her, it was in the locker. The security guard was falsely accusing them, not letting them speak, brought a cop over to have him give them a ticket. My son and his girlfriend were so flustered they didn't even think to go and get the ID from the locker. The security guard was adamant that they were doing something wrong. My son called her a Karen. The cop or rent a cop listen to her and wouldn't let them tell their story much at all. They DID NOT a get a ticket because after an hour of harassment they found out they did nothing wrong. The security guard was so upset that they didn't get in any trouble or a ticket because she thought that she was right and she was totally wrong. Since when can someone accuse somebody of something just by assuming? I guess this is the world we live in. People so unhappy of authority saying, since you look young, we are going to harass you. Do better people. Do better. We spent over $600 there is two days and this is how we are treated. Never again.

The security guard who is to help but false accused my son and his girlfriend of under age drinking.

I'm currently in line. We have only been able to do two rides today because this place is that inefficient and over crowded. It took an hour to get through a food line only to be given a veggie burger when they advertise it as a beyond burger. Do not do the west side (or whatever the old side is). It's not good. Had we known, and just spent the day in the other side, I think it would have been a slightly better experience. This place is hot garbage.

      Clearly not a beyond burger.

PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU GO!!

I hate to write this review. I have wanted to go to Schlitterbahn for around 15 years - since we saw it featured on a show about water parks. We drove up to New Braunfels after we got off a cruise in Galveston - specifically to visit Schlitterbahn.

We visited on June 19, 2023. We got to the park about 10 minutes before opening after FINALLY finding a place to park. Apple Maps led us to the new side and it was a huge giant traffic jam. We finally made it to the old side and paid $20 to park. We stood in a 40 minute line (with no shade. NONE. It was forecasted to be 106 this day) to have our bags checked and we finally made it inside. We had no idea where to go because signs are non-existent here. There were no beach loungers in the shade, so we had to settle for a picnic table in the shade in a giant puddle of mud.

The park was absolutely packed already. I'm not sure if there is not a capacity limit or they just ignore it, but holy it was SO CROWDED. There are no signs to show you where the lines for the slides start - so you just have to lug around a heavy inner tube wandering around trying to find a slide entrance and good luck asking an employee for help - because they weren't helpful at all.

After being there for 3 hours - we had ridden one ride & were basically strong armed into paying an absolutely ridiculous amount for the blast passes (there were 8 of us. You do the math.) We managed to ride a grand total of 4 rides the entire day 11-7pm. We never even made it out of the "old section."

Another issue we had was using the meal deal thing. At one point we waited 20 minutes in line for pizza only to be told we would have to wait another 20 for the pizza to actually be cooked. And why aren't bottles of water available on the meal plan? Just soda??? Luckily they had Powerade, so we drank that to help stay hydrated.

There are some positives... the slides we did ride were very unique and super fun. We loved how long they were as well. Also, you can bring in coolers with food and drink - which most parks do not let you do.

Overall, it was a huge HUGE disappointment since we will probably never make our way back to New Braunfels from Tennessee again.
