We used to always go to this other place in the same neighborhood. One random time, we chose to go to Saravanaa Bhavan and ever since then, we haven't been able to go any where else.
Some of our favorites are the South Indian Thali, Kara Dosa, Idli Sambhar, Poori bhaaji. We always get the masala tea and filter coffee. If it's too strong, they'll also provide some milk to reduce the strength a bit.
Excellent customer service and the best vegetarian South Indian food in the area.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Al T.Harlem, New York, NY01Oct 30, 2023

This was my first time trying dosa. I did like it, however I felt there were too many onions in mine. I was not a fan of the white or green dip. The orange sauce was delicious, as was the side of potatoes. Service was good and pretty immediate.

Was looking for a Indian place to take a friend and we ended up here. Such a good choice. Food came out quickly and was amazing. Spice level was good but not over powering. Also ordered the vada with sambar and it was a perfect opening to my thali plate. Friend and I also split a paper dosa which was perfect. We probably ordered to much food but I did not care since I now have leftovers at home. Definitely check this place out.

Love love love their food!! This place is best for everyone especially vegetarians and kosher individuals. There's absolutely no meat dishes at all served here. They have a combination of Indian street food and regular house dishes. I have tried their Lexington location previously and wasn't disappointed at all therefore wanted to try this one as well since it's closer to me. Parking is abundant but a very busy shopping plaza. The restaurant itself is clean and pretty. Naveen was our host and he was very respectful.
We ordered 3 piece idli for appetizer (which was absolutely delicious the best I have ever had). For entree I ordered a South Indian thali and my friend got paper masala dosa. I love mango lassi but usually most places are not very good at making it but they surely made it somewhat similar to my grandma's recipe. The South Indian thali is very filling it has assorted veggies, dessert, rice, papad (cracker) and roti (bread). I liked mostly everything but 2 vegetables dishes were mediocre. The paper masala dosa is literally Instagram worthy and taste good as well. It has masala filling in the center (mashed potatoes, onions and spices). Their menu prices are fair for the portions given!! Trust me I'd be highly disappointed if they charged me the price they did and barely have food on my plate!! Overall my day was well spent with some good food!!Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - G G.Brookhaven, NY01Feb 13, 2023
DO NOT GO HERE! There are plenty of other Indian restaurants in Hicksville with better food.
The staff are ridiculously inept. When we told the server and the manager that we didn't get all the we ordered and paid for we were accused of lying. I had to show them both that we actually ordered more items and paid for them. Then we got an attitude. If you intend on going here, JUST DON'T... You've been warned. I can't say enough negative comments about this place. ....wait, sure I can. The place is filthy, I didn't notice it at first but I thought a garbage truck drove by that gave a unpleasant smell to the place but realized it was the manager and the waitress. (Pro Tip - use soap when you bathe (if you bathe rather)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - ZOHAIB M.Queens, NY372352May 17, 2022
This is my favorite place for South Indian cuisine. The staff here is warm & welcoming. They are well versed about the menu. The place is very big & spacious on the inside so you will dine comfortably. My first time here was April 2022 & I've been back 4 times since it's almost become a weekly thing. The food here is of such high quality & tastes so damn good that you just want to keep coming back again & again. I haven't had anything that I didn't like here. I've had their dosas, uttapams, idly vada, palak paneer, naan & kulcha & literally everything tastes amazing. If you want authentic South Indian food come here!

Ahh finally ... we get a real South Indian joint in Hicksville! Now I don't have to all the way to Queens or NYC for my Dosa & madras coffee fix. Quality & consistency is what I've always looked for in the area & I've always found that at this chain wherever I've had it around the world. This place will heat up the competition in the area - hopefully raising the bar for all the Dosa restaurants!
So it finally opened - good food as usual. No need to be at the mercy of the likes of the sub par food at Dosa Hut.
