Sanraku

Located in Lower Nob Hill, Sanraku is a sushi spot with a blue awning with friendly service and fresh sushi.

The inside is lowkey and quaint. I opted for the special Hokkaido Chirashi Gozen which was filling! For me, I was probably full at 80% of the way, but kept going because it was so good.

I found the fish to be fairly fresh and the items were overall good. I always loved to try little appetizers, so this was a great option.

Overall, I would go back and suggest it to friends!

I stopped by here for lunch during my first day in San Francisco. The Sake Donburi was really good, the salmon and salmon roe very fresh. The Salmon Belly was just OK, I thought the color looked a bit pale for salmon belly and questioned its freshness. The Katsu Donburi was good.

Service was fast. The restaurant was small, so not ideal for a large group.

We love Japanese food, Sanraku is a great location with a cozy vibe. Saba (mackerel) sushi, fried oysters were huge and pretty good, gyoza potstickers perfectly tender and delicious, california roll standard. Recommend.

Came in during lunch time on a Sunday to try this sushi spot! Simple menu, cute, and clean spot!

We shared 3 rolls on the popular section. Dynamite, rainbow, volcano roll. Great tasting and very fresh!

Service was good too it wasn't busy at all prompt and easy service.

Grabbed dinner here with a friend and we made a reservation on a Monday night.

Service here was fast, however their waitress kept coming to look at our table throughout the course of our dinner around 10+ times. We weren't sure if there was something wrong with our meal or if they were just checking in. It got a little excessive at one point where our conversations were consistently interrupted.

Besides service, the food was good but nothing to write home about. I got the two combo meal with tonkatsu and shrimp tempura for $24 which was a pretty good deal! My friend got two rolls.

I'd come back here if a friend wanted to come but the waitresses hovering over us got a little excessive and we noticed it was just for our table too, not for others which was a little weird

Three months ago I was in The Bay area and went to eat at this delicious sushi spot with a friend! Everything tasted so fresh and restaurant was kept tidy. Service was quick and friendly.

Still sad they closed down the one in the Metreon but this one is great. The staff here is nice and the menu had lots of options. This is a no brainer place for lunch and dinner.

Our new favorite hole in the wall sushi place! Always very fresh and we sit at the bar so we can watch them create the roll! This roll was really good! I had never tried a roll with eel and shrimp together! Phenomenal to say the least. Will be back and highly recommend!

The chirashi is $36 that comes with uni and ikura!! It's a great deal considering the food price in San Francisco. I do have to say that the fish quality isn't the best. There's some part of the fish that feels mushy instead of firm. The service and ambiance are ok, but they don't stand out to me. Overall, it's still a decent budget place for solid Japanese food.

Pick 2 - 5 PC SASHIMI + SESAME CHICKEN $24 - comes with rice & veggies. My bf enjoyed the sashimi (3 pieces tuna, 2 pieces yellowtail). The tuna seemed of pretty good quality (dark red), and they were pretty big pieces. We both enjoyed the sesame chicken - sweet and crispy. Good amount of meat and not just batter. There was about 12 pieces so definitely shareable.

Tempura roll $10/6 pcs - it was good as your typical shrimp tempura roll. Good size pieces.

Hamachi jalapeno roll $19/8 pcs - bf enjoyed this. it was a bit spicy. Good size roll.

Hot sake small 180ml $6 - bf enjoyed it although it wasn't as smooth as the one he had in Houston previously that week.
