We came for lunch at 1pm on a Thursday when it was not that crowded and still the service was pretty bad. Got seated in 2 minutes but after 10 minutes I had to remind the front desk that we still dont have a server. Even after telling that they sent a server after another 7-8 minutes. And after taking the order it took another 15 minutes.

      Pizza was good though.

Really odd service for a walk-in take-out order. Got ignored for the first 5-10 minutes, then just weird interactions... "What was your name? I don't see your name on an order.. etc. Took a surprisingly long time for a wood-fire pizza in a sit-down place with maybe 10 people at the tables (less than 20% capacity).

Okay pizza; not much love went into it...

I need to remember not to return to this Sammy's ever. We came here for dinner and it was not very busy so I don't know why the service was so slow. The server was friendly though.

For dinner we ordered the Greek salad, mini wagyu hamburgers, and the carne asada tacos. The salad was mediocre. Too much dressing so it tasted quite salty. In fact, everything was salty. Even the French fries that came with the burgers even though we ordered it with less salt. If you have high blood pressure or want a low salt diet, stay away from this place.

The taco plate came with two tacos. They were quite small (see photo) which turned out to be a blessing in disguise cause these tacos were spicy and not good. But on the menu it wasn't marked with a chili pepper so I didn't think they would be spicy. But they were. The tacos came with chips and salsa and the salsa was even spicier than the sauce and my tongue was already numb. And for the first time, I saw what somewhat burnt tortilla chips look like. How does tortilla chips get burnt? Anyway, two times I have come here. I should have learned after the first time. High prices for less than mediocre food and slow service.

We are repeat patrons for happy hour. This time we came for lunch. I ordered the chopped chicken salad. Truth be told, I was underwhelmed with this dish. The dressing was very light and the chicken was bland. The only saving grace was the Kalamata olives - which gave the salad all of its flavor. My advice - come here for the happy hour. Don't order the salad!!

Came to Sammy's after checking out the Scripps Poway Christmas lights. We had our pup so was happy to see Dogs Allowed. It was a really nice out so patio seating was perfectly fine not to mention the patio is really pretty. Love the plants and lighting.
Shani was our server and she was lovely. We asked about her favorite pizza and she suggested a few but we decided to go with her top choice, the Thai Chicken Pizza. It's such a unique combination and flavor but I love the basil and peanut sauce! We also got the Brussel sprouts and our free check-in which was a Ceasar Salad. We always appreciate a freebie! We also got a four cheese pizza. It was a lot of food so we have lunch for tomorrow but the pizza has a nice crust so it'll be good even reheated.

I had the mini wagyu burgers and a black iced tea. We also shared the chips and avocado dip, that was delicious and probably my favorite part of the meal. But I love avocados, so I might be a little biased. The iced teas are decaf here. The fries were actually crunchy! I liked having the burgers bite sized, made it easy to maneuver with the oils, and could finish with just a few bites. Though, maybe I was famished, I thought they were just okay. They missed out on giving us the appetizer first, and it ended up coming last (thus seen in the picture).

Our waitress seemed pretty nervous, and kept coming back and forth to reconfirm menu questions. They were very accommodating with the seating arrangements, outside/inside/middle/side which, if you're not from here, you know how sometimes you get the last table and that's it! So that was nice of them but we didn't care too much since there were plenty of empty booths. Hot day, so we chose to sit indoors.

Same here for lunch for a friend's birthday and really enjoyed it. Glad this happened because I don't think we would have found this place otherwise.

Chinese salad with chicken was the highlight of the show!
Ask for dressing on the side and can't even need as much n
So country and so fresh and so refreshing! We ordered a large size + 1/2 chicken breast to split among 2 and that was so huge the only finished half. Very large portion size!

Thai chicken pizza was lovely as well. Lovely crunch of the peanuts with good amount of julienned zucchini as well. Definitely recommend getting it on the regular crust because the artisan
train crust very thin and there was a lot of popping on the pizza.

Dip sampler was good. Hummus was my favorite. Garlic pita bread It came with was really creative and nice on its own!
Fries were really crispy. Parmesan on top was beautiful.
Duck tacos were surprisingly good! Cute little tacos with a crispy tortilla and some really good sauce. It came on a bed of lettuce which had a lot of that sauce now there as well and I could have just eaten the plain lettuce with the sauce.
Crispy brussels sprouts appetizer would have been amazing if it had less oil. I could actually see quite the amount of oil on there so I only had a small piece. Good amount of char and the walnut in Parmesan on there was good but the killer was the balsamic on top! Really good flavor.

Apple buy pizza for dessert was unexpectedly amazing! Just the right amount of sweet and good ratio of apples to the crust. Came with a scoop of ice cream on top too.

Others on the table order the goat cheese, pizza, orzo, pasta and just a bunch of other pizzas. Everybody enjoyed the food.

I feel that Sammy's is always a hit or miss, with all of the locations throughout San Diego. However, I love their happy hour so much which is what keeps me coming back. We came here a week ago for happy hour and ordered the following:
Margarita pizza: very good and very cheesy, but the pizza was soggy from what looked like an excess amount of oil. Pizza was good, but the excess of oil really took away from a lot.
Truffle fries: so delicious! Perfectly crispy and lots of flavor.
Iced tea: iced tea tasted fresh! Very refreshing.
Service was attentive and the restaurant/bathrooms were very clean.
I'll be back for happy hour!

We came here for happy hour to eat appetizers and grab a glass of wine. Several appetizers were half off and $2 off beer and wine. It has a great menu. We tried the lettuce cups, mini burgers and meatballs. You should try all these great eats.

Everything was great tasting and one house pour of wine was very satisfying. The restaurant is very warm and welcoming while having low intimate lighting.

Lexi our waitress, made our dining experience a 5 star experience. She was so friendly and welcoming. Lexi got our food out to us quickly and checked on us often. Service from her was top notch! We loved our dining experience tonight with reasonable happy hour prices. Great job.
