One of Boston Globe Magazine's "Best of the New" and featured on WCVB-TV's "Chronicle," Salt & Olive is a specialty grocery store offering a delightful range of olive oils, balsamic vinegars, artisan salts, spices, teas, mixers, cheese, chocolate, and more -- in store and online at saltandolive.com. We're all about ingredients that are fresh, local, organic. It's pretty simple: we love food. It's a 24/7 thing. We created Salt & Olive as a way to share our food obsession -- and to hear about yours. Perhaps introduce you to choices and flavors you'll find creative and exciting. We'd love to be part of your next culinary triumph (or simple joy), and our mission is to offer you fresh and delicious ingredients to transform the way you experience food. We source both Northern and Southern Hemisphere Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oils that have no preservatives, additives or chemicals. There's always a fresh harvest in the store. We have balsamic and flavored vinegars for tastings, along with naturally harvested and produced artisan salts, organic spices, teas, cheese and charcuterie representing the world's palate -- and are New England-sourced. We've developed relationships with each partner we feature. They are artisan vendors who create food simply for the joy it brings them and us. Come in, experience our tasting room, and explore. And count on us asking you one thing: What will you make?

Awesome, beautiful, eclectic selections of infused olive oils, teas and spices!
When you walk in, you can sample over 25 different oils. My favorite to try was the orange blossom infused olive oil. My husband fell in love with the basil infused, and we bought a bottle.
Their spices though - the herbs de Provence that they carry smells heavenly. I can't wait to return to purchase a few ounces (or however they sell it).
Love it!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Megan C.Cambridge, MA50457May 3, 2018
Cute, small specialty spice & wine store near Harvard square. They have everything from traditional basaltic vinegars, olive oils, salts, spices, loose teas, wines and beer.
The staff is SUPER knowledgeable and really seems to enjoy their job and talking with customers.
I stepped in on a whim during a wine tasting (every Thursday) and had a wonderful conversation with the shopkeeper (despite doing my my hardest to knock over things with my backpack, sorry!!).
The selection is small, but well curated and everything seems to be very high quality. I can't wait to stop in again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Yeah, I know. A store selling just salts, spices and olive oils sounds impossibly trite, even for Harvard Square, but this is a great little shop, especially when you consider how much "extra virgin olive oil" sold in supermarkets isn't extra virgin and isn't really olive oil (unless the bottle has a pressing date, assume that you're being had)
The staff here were very accommodating of (my) dumb questions and helped me taste several oils before landing on a nice Spanish Picual midway on the pepper/lightness spectrum. They also sell high-end spices in bulk and carry Jacobsen sea salt from Oregon. You can't taste-test the Jacobsen's since they only re-sell it, but it's a few dollars less than you can find it even on the Jacobsen's site.
And it beats another eyeglass store or ATM in the Square, right?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Noshii R.Cambridge, MA101241Apr 23, 2015
One of the most beautiful stores in all of Cambridge.
Not a chain. An actual independent, store owner who loves salt and olive oil. The owner spent time in Italy and learned the craft at the source.
A great place to stop by on a nice sunny day stroll.
The olive oils are delicious!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amy W.Brighton, MA05Dec 29, 2017
So welcoming and wonderful! Salt and Olive was recommended to me as a "last minute" stop by for a holiday gift. I'm not a chef, so I saw all of the oils and vinegars I was slightly overwhelmed. However, a quick check-in with the owners, and I was in such great hands. Beyond polite, enthusiastic about their products, and kind, I left there with the perfect gifts.
The store is charming and they had great suggestions, explaining which oils would be paired with meats, pastas, etc. It's definitely a must to at least visit and ask the owners for ideas.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chalyse B.Dorchester, MA229Aug 8, 2016
Amazing!!!! If you're a person that is serious about cooking and flavors, you have to stop by.
The olive oils are on tap and have the date when they were bottled! The plain flavors, without infusions, are extremely varied in intensity, from mild to robust. They are delicious! You can sample all of them.
I use a lot of olive oil, I buy the largest bottle they sell about once a month. "Picual" is my favorite of the plain, and blood orange and lemon are both very good!
The salt varieties are also amazing!!! They have salts from the vineyards, from small remotes off the coast of Ireland, and my favorite, black lava salt (among many more!)
This place is really excellent. I can't go on long enough. It is a tiny bit pricey, however, the quality is unmatched and 100% worth it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joey N.Tarzana, Los Angeles, CA5111126Jun 13, 2015
This store was amazing. They have all types of salts, spices, teas, and olive oils. The smell of shop is intoxicating...it puts you into a realistic trance...it was such an amazing shop. I purchase white truffle salt for my girlfriend and she loved it. The owner was so nice, informing, and accommodating that I wanted to stay forever. It was a great spot.

I love this place. I'm getting ready to make my next visit. I really like the idea that I can taste the olive oils and vinegars before purchasing. The price for great quality.

This elegant shop features a wide array of glorious olive oils *on tap* -- not just from the Mediterranean but also Australia, South America, California and beyond -- as well as fresh balsamic vinegars and artisanal sea salts. They also sell beautiful hand-painted ceramic bowls from Italy, which pair perfectly with their heavenly culinary offerings to make a lovely gift. I've given several of these gift sets to friends in the last year, and each was received with much delight!

This lovely shoppe offers the highest quality and tastiest olive oil offerings I have ever found outside of Italy and the Golan. OU certified; fresh; sumptuous; and bountiful. They also have a lovely tea selection. A great date spot as well for the culinarily inclined ;)
