My Dad and I came here to meet a buddy who's from the area for liquid lunch and to our surprise this awesome sports bar is located in old town Sacramento. Such a great hometown feel. My dad loved it. 40 beers on tap!
This spacious sports bar had a cornucopia of sports memorabilia from jerseys, posters, pictures and even cleats hanging from the lights up above. The bartender was very kind and helpful. She went through most of the beers on tap and rotating taps, and was very social/attentive throughout our visit. Though we already ate and not in the mood for more food the intoxicating smell of the burgers really pushed teased our appetite. My buddy said this place has arguably one of the best burgers for the price in sac.
Tons of open seating and the men's bath rooms has kegs for Urinals. Pretty freaking cool. I can't wait to come back and order some pub grub, while catching a game here, seeing all the fanatics fill the sports bar screaming at their teams losing.
Go Warriors!

Ducked in here for a Sunday afternoon pint during the 4th quarter of the first playoff game. The game was a bust, but the bar was still lively.
Considering the age of this building housing a bar that is less than 3 years old, they place is great-- old timey feel with plenty of TVs for your viewing pleasure.
A shuffleboard table is a nice touch. No, not the kind with the sticks, Mildred.
The gal behind the bar was friendly and attentive, and kept the space in front of us occupied by cold beers. We did our part by drinking them. Collaboration is everything.
While I didn't try the food here, other folks seemed to be enjoying their plates of French fries and tacos and what not. May have to try it some day, although I enjoyed it for what I did experience: a laid-back atmosphere, good service, and convenient location that is walking distance from my hotel. See you next time, SacTown.

Well this is was one of those unfortunate situations when the return visit has shown a place to have pulled a 180.
My first visit was last year, soon after they originally opened up. Drinks were good, service was attentive and the chef (who told me he had come over from Broderick's) made a killer housemade vegan burger.
Fast forward a year later and sadly it's a different story. Came in during Monday Night Football and the place had barely anyone in it. Hostess grabbed our waters quickly, but after waiting an excessive time to even be greeted by a server I had to ask the hostess to send one over so we could actually be served.
Finally we get some service and order the vegan burgers. Much to our disappointment, what arrives is most certainly not the housemade deliciousness I once raved about (and posted a photo of last year). Even the fries weren't as good - or as thick - as before... and we all know thicker is better (like Ra Jeena says lol).
That chef from Broderick's is clearly gone and we're actually pretty sure we got served the frozen vegan burgers from Costco, which aren't horrible, but definitely not worth the $15 price tag at this place by any means.
Am I glad to see a vegan option at a sports bar? Absolutely.
Is this place worth going out of my way for to come back? Nah.

I was hoping to find a good spot to go and grab a quick bite to eat in a laid back environment.
The scenario is your standard sports bar (leaning more toward bar versus sports themed restaurant).
We ordered a kids chicken strips meal and a kids grilled cheese, two orders of street tacos (one chicken one steak).
One kids meal and the steak tacos came out well ahead of the other two meals so we ate at different times entirely. They say that they are steak tacos but it's actually ground beef on small flour tortillas, nothing else (maybe a dusting of onion, literally a pinch). Plated with tortilla chips, we weren't given salsa, we had to ask for it. Our server only brought out one ramekin even though we ordered two taco plates ...but I was pretty exhausted by everything at this point so I just wanted to choke this meal down and exit the joint. The chicken tacos were large squares of dry chicken and like the steak, not much else. It was pretty mind boggling, bar food tends to pleasantly surprise me but not here.
Lots of memorabilia adorned the walls which is always cool. The hostess and server were friendly and sweet.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jul 12, 2017
Have you been here yet to cheer on your team? If not, what are you waiting for? This is my new favorite place to watch sportsball in Sacramento! Centrally located off of J street in Old Town, SacTown Sports Bar & Grill is basically what happens when someone builds a restaurant and bar inside of their personal memorabilia museum. It reminds me of the Hard Rock Café of sportsball, but the food is better.
Where has the brown butter burger been all my life? How's that for alliteration? It comes in full size and slider versions, in case I want to save room for that menu of specialty infused cocktails on tap. Who does that? Try the Orange Elixir, the Maker's 46 Old Fashioned, and the Hornitos Paloma! Wangs here are not to be missed, nor are the sweet potato fries. Their BBQ sauce is house-made, tangy, and rich. Mmmm.
I've done the research for you, as is my nature. This is a perfect fit for your sports watching gathering. They have two large rooms in addition to the bar area, which in itself is not small. I invited a group of 12 or so to watch the Giants Home Opener this season, and everything was perfect. They're great over the phone, they'll reserve spots for you, and they DO have a vegan burger that I hear is pretty darn good. In case you wondered.
Stop by! Before leaving, make sure you head downstairs to the restrooms and check out my Dream Joe Montana Living Room Set.Helpful 22Thanks 0Love this 21Oh no 0 - 45215884662May 21, 2017
SacTown Sports Bar & Grill may be one of the best sports bars anywhere. Sacramento is lucky to have a place that combines great food with good drinks and a virtual museum of sports memorabilia. This large bar and restaurant is located in Old Sacramento near J and Front Street.
The restaurant has a rather standard entrance to blend in with the historic facade, however upon entering you are truly transported to your cool uncle's man cave with sports themed decorations covering nearly every square inch of the walls. The effect is a bit overwhelming, but the owners have something for everyone - although there is an expected bias towards Bay Area teams. You can sit at a table or at the long bar, the latter having many televisions with all the games.
Normally, most sports bars have a basic menu of fried snacks that merely blend into the background of the big game. This is a place that really cares about their food. On several visits, I have come to love their wings. They are fried perfectly and served wet or dry with several excellent flavors. Dry Heat is my favorite, but the Sriracha Ginger is truly amazing with a spicy heat that is truly intense.
The menu includes tasty sliders and sandwiches, great fries with toppings, and even their chips and salsa are damn good. SacTown's menu is obviously geared toward their demographic, but the food is really well done and has something for everyone.
Thirsty? Most places these days have the standard huge tap selection including a good number of local brews, and SacTown does not disappoint. But, how many bars have craft cocktails on tap? I was truly amazed by the quality of these draught cocktails that consistently shine. Restrooms are downstairs.
This is a great place to watch the game or just meet up before a game. Sports lovers will be in heaven. The motif is a bit much for those opposed to sports, but the rest in the middle can absolutely enjoy their great food and drinks. Home run!Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Feb 27, 2017
This is NOT your average sports bar!
I initially came here for an event and had to come back with my friends because I was so impressed with the food. I had the Brown Butter Burger and could not stop singing it's praises. My friends were doubtful, but one bite and they were believers as well.
I met Chef Cory, the Executive Chef, at the event and got to know him more when we came back. It was a quiet Friday afternoon so he was able to emerge from the kitchen and chat with us about his background and the food. He's a classically trained chef with a fine dining background. He took up the challenge of taking bar food to a whole new level. It's not about fancy schamncy techniques, but about quality ingredients prepared well. There's nothing pretentious about the menu (wings, burgers, sandwiches, salads) but you can taste the extra care he took in preparing it. He takes his time in development before actually putting items on the menu. if it's not right, it's not getting served. I love his way of thinking when he said, "Just because someone comes in for bar food, doesn't mean they don't deserve a quality meal".
Once you taste the food, you will know what I'm talking about. His wings come in a variety of flavors (salt and pepper chili lime all the way to sriracha ginger). Our group tried the Dry Heat, Sriacha Ginger and Salt and Pepper Chili Lime. I personally can not eat spicy foods, but those in my group who love heat say it was definitely spicy, but also very tasty. The wings are brined, then fried then seasoned so that they stay crispy and tender. We also had the Cobb salad which had the best presentation I've seen for a salad. You'll have to order it to see it yourself.
Our group also had two kinds of mac n cheese: chicken, bacon, broccoli mac and cheese and the four cheese. The four cheese was super creamy and had a little bit of sweetness to it that cuts through the salty cheese. It was definitely a crowd favorite.
Just when we thought, it couldn't possibly get better, we got the Brown Butter Burger with egg and the Hawaiian Burger with pineapple, egg and house made Spam. Yes, House Made Spam! This had 4 ingredients, no preservatives or artificial ingredients. This Spam has ruined me for all others. I'm not usually a fan of pineapple on my burger, but the sweet/tart flavor worked really well with the salty spam and the rich bold flavor of the beef in the burger. I was literally speechless after these burgers. Obviously you can't have a great burger and crappy fries so they had to make sure their fries were on par with the burgers. Their fries make 48 hours to make because there's no skimping on quality, right?
So, this wouldn't be a sports bar without the bar part, right? So, how is their bar? I'm not much of a beer person and they recommended a Kona Pilsner and Six Rivers Brewery Macadamia Nut which were refreshing and perfect pairing for the bar food. The Six Rivers was like drinking candy. Yummy! They also have cocktails on tap like the Orange Elixir (Ketel Orange, Aperol, grapefruit and citrus), River Cats Rum Runner (Captain Morgan white and spiced rum, Orange Curacao, pineapple, lime and house grenadine), and Effin Cucumber Linen (Effen Cucumber Vodka, Elderflower, lemon and house tonic.) My personal fave was the Rum Runner cuz I'm a rum fan.
All in all, Sactown Sports Bar and Grill has everything: outstanding food, great drinks and fabulous service. For once, I actually do not have enough words to extol it's many virtues.Helpful 27Thanks 0Love this 29Oh no 0 - Apr 2, 2017
I went here for a meet up with some colleagues yesterday. We were in the bar early (11am) so it was not crowded and it was quiet. Very cool vibe - tons of memorabilia on the walls and cool exposed brick. I didn't really walk around too much since our table was right inside. Seems like a really good place to hang out if you're into the sports bar scene. Parking is in the big lot for Old Sacramento. No street parking.
The food was excellent and the service was very attentive and happy and friendly. I ordered the Brown Butter Burger and it was great!! But, the best part? The FRIES! Oh wowza! They served it with a side of homemade ranch too. I think I would eat a pound of those fries. I ordered ice tea and she fresh brewed it for me and it was delicious. Everyone at my table (8 of us) seemed to all like their food as well.
I will add this to my list of spots to eat in Old Sac and would recommend it for my sports loving friends too.

Cocktails on tap, such a great idea! We tried a few of the many choices and I would recommend the River Cats Rum Runner or the Sactown Patron Margarita, or maybe the Effen Cucumber Linen. Ok too many choices stop in and give them a try. You can get beer and wine on tap. Just 47 seconds to pour your favorite drink.
Hungry for a burger, you must try the Brown Butter Burger. (Delicious) or maybe you would like some wings or street tacos, how about chips and some guacamole. You can find it all let's not forget about the mac and cheese.
Memorabilia is everywhere, maybe one of the biggest collections I have ever seen, T.V's everywhere you can watch your favorite game
We found the staff and the owners to be friendly and knowledgeable. Bartenders knew all about the drinks and what would go with our taste.
metered street parking or you can use the parking lots in old Sac.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - B. Nutz H.Sacramento, CA8089271402Feb 26, 2018
The first time I came here I had such a great time.
This time was nothing short of disappointing. Our hostess seemed bothered by us from the beginning and had a personality about as dry as a popcorn fart. The waitress maybe checked on us twice in the hour we were there. I ordered the chips and salsa, salsa had great flavor and the chips were like rubber. The positive was I had a double tequila to wash it down.
When it came time to pay our tab our waitress and about 5 other employees were having social hour by a kiosk. Needless to say I wont be coming back any time soon
