Pretty good venue. It is much more spacious than it appears from the outside. Great air-conditioning.
Happy hour from 3 - 9pm. I got a Bud and a cherry vodka sour for $6.50. Not a bad price.
We had this year's karaoke reunion here. Great sound system. Able to access the better karaoke versions of songs, namely Sound Choice and Sunray. Kia and Mel manned the karaoke booth. Both are excellent singers. A great time was had by all.
It was also a memorial for Michael R, who recently passed away. A real great fellow and singer. Bittersweet.
There are two electronic dart boards and two pool tables. Several TVs for watching sports. Internet jukebox, AMI.
Nice addition to the neighborhood. They used to be on Coachlight, out towards the airport.
Go there.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Johnny R.Surrey, Canada4456318Aug 26, 2023
I haven't been to this place in years, bartender ( tall white man) extremely rude! He was serving everyone around us and told us to go to other inside of bar to order...what the heck????
We simply wanted to close our tab and he had quick change of mind. Seems if you're not a regular service is poor! Zero tip! He needs a course in customer service!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mike R.Corona, CA917Dec 3, 2023Updated review
They should change the name of this place. Very misleading. They don't even do country or country dancing
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 31, 2023Previous reviewI went to this place, thinking maybe they did country dancing, but they mostly played hip-hop and it was like going to a regular bar, maybe they should consider changing the name of it, so they don't miss lead people into thinking it's a country saloon

Parking can be a challenge, but the bar itself is cosy and friendly atmosphere. Great little bar with awesome service. Thanks!

GF and I were in San Antonio for rodeo weekend. We shopped, dined, had a great day. Looking for a drink on the way back to the hotel she looked up local bars. Sure enough, SA Country Saloon was about a mile from where we were staying.
We venture in and find a few men at the bar with a drag bartender. We order some drinks and head over to the pool tables. Conversation went something like:
Me: Babe, this a gay bar.
GF: Google said nothing about a gay bar!
I pick up my phone and consult Yelp. Yep, gay bar confirmed. We played a few rounds and had a few drinks. Did I mention my newly acquired shirt I picked out that day? We went to Hustler Hollywood store a few miles down 410.
I was excited to buy a nice shirt that had a patch that expressed "pounding p*ssy since forever". Didn't exactly excite the clientele, but at least they knew not to hit on me. Even asked on the way out if they had Isn't it ironic on the jukebox.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1 - Joseph H.San Antonio, TX7834739Nov 14, 2021Updated review
I'm sorry, I have been a longtime Patron and customer of this bar for almost a decade, even through the pandemic and changing locations.
But they allow this line group dance group to come in during the week, and disrespect the whole lgbtq community.
A couple months ago when I was at this location, the dance group was having some sort of a competition that took up the entire dance floor and bar area. One of the contestants, visitors, with busy yelling derogatory words across the Dance Floor to someone.
Words like these are offensive to people in our community are hateful and ignorant. One of the bartenders went up after the next song and said hey guys be nice. And then one of the hosts of the event, got on the microphone and made a even worse statement about how they need to be nice because this is not a normal bar.
The lgbtq community is not abnormal, there is nothing wrong with us, and you are a guest in an lgbtq safe space, this was disgusting behavior that as far as I know has yet to be addressed by the bar staff, Bart management, ownership, or the event organizers.
I refuse to support an organization, this bar is going to get grouped in to personal bands, like Salvation Army, Chick-fil-A, and Hobby Lobby for me. Ridiculous because this part used to identify as an gay bar. But you wouldn't know it now because you walk in and there's no indication that this is a safe place for lgbtq people. No Flags no disco ball, no HRC stickers, no equality messaging anywhere in the bar location. They used to have display cases, and the tgra used to be prominently displayed.
Just makes me sad, because I run an lgbtq nonprofit, I'm a former member of the lgbtq Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and do a lot of nonprofit work within the lgbtq community. After this incident, this is no longer a safe place for us.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 10, 2021Previous reviewI never expected to put a negative review for a gay bar and what I would consider a staple in and for our community. But in their effort to stay relevant and opening their doors to organizations that aren't directly a part of the lgbtq community, they've also lost some of their identity.
I went in on a Tuesday night which used to be considered a karaoke night, which has been replaced last week with some sort of a local country line dancing group.
I'm all for something new, and inviting people from outside of the lgbtq community to see that we aren't any different and they are welcome to join Austin are safe places even when we don't always feel so welcome in other establishments....
But while I was sitting there not even through my first drink, there were a couple of people part of the event, that we're yelling derogatory slurs such as faggot out loud several times to make fun of another participant....
That wasn't the worst part, unfortunately it took another five to ten minutes before the staff from the bar, not even the leadership of the organization that was hosting the dance event addressed it. Once the bartender got off the microphone one of the hosts of the event said something even more insulting, of saying we need to be nice because this is not a normal bar.
Just because we're lgbtq doesn't mean we're not normal. This organization needs to apologize to the people and the staff that were there publicly. This was absolutely disgusting. And this organization should not be invited back to this establishment.
The management ownership of this location needs to stand up and identify as an LGBT organization and Staple in our community. Even though they've taken down all of their lgbtq Flags stickers and display cases that were prominently available previously. Are they embarrassed to be a part of our community? Is this no longer a gay bar?
Having been a former member of the SA LGBT Chamber of Commerce for several years, currently run an lgbtq nonprofit, I won't ever come back to this bar until there is an apology. I've been coming to this bar for almost 10 years, and followed some of the staff. Sad days...Mar 25, 2021Previous reviewI am glad to see they have reopened in a similarly open large spacious venue. Bar staff is fantastic and Karaoke gets me going every Thu/Sun but I'm sad to see no noticeable LGBTQ+ regalia, display cases, flags, stickers, or other indicators. Did we lose our visibility here or is the ownership afraid of the display?? Hopefully this is temporary as TGRA, SoPE were just some.of the group's that called this place a safe home!

Nice little club with great bartenders and serving drinks in red solo cups Music selection could be better but nice sized dance floor and plenty of seating as well. Pool tables and darts and clean bathrooms for women. Parking is a problem though and no security in parking lot as well as smoking area is right outside the front door which is not good for those that don't care to smell like smoke. Hopefully it will continue to attract more people. Happy hour until 9pm and sometimes they have drag shows on Friday or Saturday night .

We had so much fun! The staff are all FABULOUS and a lot of fun! They played great music. The drink specials were really good and that always makes for a good night! We took some great group photos at the free photo station.
So much fun!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Megan H.Hudson, FL186Apr 21, 2021
Took a friend for his birthday because he really liked the original location. This spot is underwhelming at best.

Employees drinking on their days off. No class.
Seriously rude employees! Saturday night, empty dance floor & employees rudely escorting the few people when closing. Employees need to be schooled on how to treat customers. No class.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
