Just tried the two newest tacos -carne asada tacos which were excellent, the best I've had since they opened. I also had the fried avocado taco with an almost thousand island sauce, not a fan. Had neither the taste nor appearance that I like Jed. But this was the only one I wouldn't order again. I do miss their Piccadillo taco as well as their cauliflower one.
I'm there just about every week since I have to have a go order of their queso for my veggies and eggs at home.
And of course I have to have one of GG's special jalapeño margaritasHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 27, 2023Previous reviewDue to Covid hadn't been in I'm a B while. They've made quite a few changes in the menu, luckily moist of my favorite ones are still here--green street tacos, Texican, Rusty taco, what's missing that I loved are the Piccadillo and the cauliflower. They still have the churros!! B I had 2 orders!!
Come check out the changes! Of course GG is still here! Thank goodness!Aug 11, 2023Previous reviewI'm in Rusty's a lot. Was there to celebrate GG's Fortieth and this week to taste the new Birria tacos. Loved the taco itself but not the very small bowl of the birria as it needed more flavor,
My favorite taco? Hard to decide. Have had everything on the menu. I tend to always order a green street taco, and the Piccadilly, also the cauliflower taco, which is always good, I eat at the bar for the companionship and proximity to Rita's and larger slices of lime than come on the tacos,
Their queso is a must and I often take a container home for my baked potatoes or scrambled eggs.
And try their churros, too. Small but delicious!Dec 1, 2022Previous reviewLast night was probably my tenth time at Rusty Taco and am still working through their menu. Had the Rusty Taco and the Green Street taco which is fast becoming my favorite. My son had a Rusty and the Texican, which I tried and liked. We shared the street corn (yum) and a churro for dessert. Their churro has a caramel center which takes it right over the top.
I like to sit at the bar and chat with the bartender (G G today ). They always greet me by name and know which margarita I like. You can order and eat food at the bar and chat with other frequent customers.Nov 12, 2022Previous reviewWell, finally got my son to Rusty Taco and he was as taken with the food and crew as I have been. We had the unequalled queso, and chips, 2 tacos each, shared a side of street corn and had a Mexican beer each. He was impressed that both Adam and GG greeted many guests by name and knew our preferences in food. I was thrilled that the queso T shirts had come in and I was able to get mine in the rusty red I'd been waiting for.
As Arnold says, " I'll be back!"Nov 4, 2022Previous reviewOne of my favorite new places!!! Their queso is addicting! Lots of unusual tacos, I'm about halfway through the selection, lol! Favorites so far are fish tacos, dynamite shrimp, and weirdly the crispy cauliflower ones! Make sure you ask fir the corn tortillas! They have several margaritas, both frozen and on rocks. My favorite is their watermelon rimmed in Tajine.
You can eat at the bar, enjoying their bartenders Brittany, Adam and GG at various times. Keep a tab open, you'll keep ordering like I do!Oct 29, 2022Previous reviewBack again. Having my watermelon Rita on rocks. Trying 2 different tacos--#6-cauliflower. Which was surprisingly good, and my new favorite--dynamite shrimp, crispy. Sitting here watching the World Series.

So before coming here I hadn't heard great things about their food.
Howeverrr always heard their margarita were delish and a happy hour drink is always a bonus!
The bartender was a very good lookin male and so very kind and patient as I literally could not decide what to order.
A gal at the bar suggested a half ice half blended margarita and it was the best thing evaaa!
Deff ordering it like that again and from there.
The tacos have been really good in my opinion, as this was the second time I've actually had them.
However, there was very little fish and sooo soo so much purple cabbage.
So that was actually disappointing.
The place was very chill and relaxing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Francis H.Reno, NV2017589Jan 12, 20243 check-ins
The servers were VERY friendly right from our walking in!
They don't have crispy tacos but that's okay.
If there is a line you can go straight to the bar and order a margarita and lunch!
They have a margarita Monday and happy hour every day!
We just found our TacoPlace just minutes from home.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 31, 2023
Micheal T, this place is in need of a serious Yelp! Elite event intervention! Rusty Taco has some awesome tacos and $5.00 margaritas on Mondays. So quiet... they deserve some publicity. The tacos were delicious and the mango margaritas were very good.
The staff are very friendly but need business. We ordered the grilled cauliflower tacos, a brisket taco, a Texican taco and a chicken fajita taco. I loved my cauliflower taco and chicken fajita taco! And the margaritas at $5.00 on MOndays were so refreshing in this Reno summer heat!
Staff needs more business, and I think it's because no one has found out about Rusty Taco. Sounds like a Yelp Elte event may be in order for this little franchise!

This is a pretty rad spot. The dining room is really big, and they have a nice outdoor space.
You can order up at the counter, or head over to the bar and order directly from there.
The bar tender suggested a lovley blend of 2 flavors of margaritas, super delicious.
The menu is pretty large, and the combinations of food/flavors is on point. We had a few different tacos each, and they were quite a bit bigger than I anticipated. I ordered 3 and could not eat them all.
Highly reccomend the chips and salsa. Chips come out warm and with plenty of salt.
My tacos were not quite as warm as I would have liked, but it didn't take away from the ample flavor. Prices seem a little high, but... The tacos are big. So you really get what you pay for.
Looking forward to heading back and trying different tacos.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 28, 2023
I finally found the time to eat at this place. My first experience there wasn't good as they had long lines and a long wait time on top of the overpriced tacos but I finally was able to give it a try. I went here about an hours before closing and there was no crowds or long lines.
I decided to order the Baja shrimp, the rusty, and the green street tacos. I also got a rusty margarita on the rocks. I went to the bar and picked up my drink. The margarita was ok. It was a little too sweet for me but it just ok. The turn off was that one of the bartenders was dropping F bombs and talking loudly to customers at the bar. It's not like he was angry or anything. I think he was getting too comfortable with some of the patrons. I'm definitely no stranger to that kind of that kind of language, but it just didn't seem right when an employee is blabbing it out all the time. I understand good help is hard to find.
I got my food and it seemed like they were a good size for a street taco. Not your typical street taco. They were fancy tacos. They all tasted good. No complaints here. I would probably come back and try different tacos. Although I'd be a little hesitant with the bartender dropping F bombs and talking loudly around my kid. Luckily I didn't bring my kid on this go around.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 3, 2023
This is a cool place.
You can order from the bartender or from the main area. The bartender, so kindly came over and notifies all the guests in line.
The place was not busy when we arrived around 530pm. It started to get really busy as we stayed longer.
They have sauces in a fridge next to the drink area. We like the habanero. Had a good kick to it. It's not very traditional in Mexican food. Felt more like tex Mex food. We liked it a lot. I got the shrimp Taco, and that's a 10 out of 10.
My husband got two racos. Forget which ones. He liked one more than the other for sure. Wish I could recall what it was.
The nachos are good, but I do wish it had more veggies on it. Either way, the quest and the asada were good. Rate it 7 out of 10.
The food is fresh and prompt. Workers are super friendly and even smiled at our toddler a few times.
There's a lot of space, but it still gets pretty packed.
The parking lot is a bit odd, but there's a good amount. You may need to fight the IHOP goers for spots, though.
It is pretty icey out there, so I bet it gets busier in warm Friday evenings.
Check them out. we know we will be back again.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Aug 17, 2023
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my meal here and the entire dining experience. My hubby and I got the 6 taco deal which came with some really good chips, salsa and Queso. The fried shrimp taco was my absolute favorite. I had 2 margaritas-pineapple on rocks and blended strawberry-both were great and come with choice of rim. Great service and fun atmosphere, tacos and margaritas-I'll be back!

I really want to like this place, I think they have great potential. I tried a few Street Taco bowls to go and have mixed feelings about them!
The ambiance seemed chill and inviting. Friendly service.
The rice - on 3 different occasions within a week, the rice wasn't as soft as I would have liked it. A bit on the hard side, which made the bowls less appetizing. I didn't really get the taste of cilantro lime from the rice, it definitely needs more cilantro and lime.
If you don't like cilantro, be sure to omit it because these dishes are served with a nice helping of cilantro. Which is good for those that like cilantro.
Fish Taco Bowl - The tempura battered fish was pretty good. It wasn't too soggy, but wasn't as crispy as I had hoped it would be. The Baja sauce and cilantro paired nicely with the fish. Wasn't a big fan of the red cabbage, it was in excess, I had to remove some before eating.
Baja Shrimp Taco Bowl - I think the Baja sauce made this bowl. I got the grilled shrimp, which were pretty flavorful, not very big, but had about 5-6 pieces. It came with red cabbage and cilantro. But I omitted the cabbage.
Rusty Taco Bowl - I really enjoyed the flavors of this bowl. Achiote pork, grilled pineapple relish, and cilantro. The pork was tender and flavorful. I was confused by the grilled pineapple relish, as it seemed to just be grilled pineapple tidbits and nothing else to it. This bowl could have used a little more pineapple. I added potatoes just for fun, it was a surprisingly good addition but could have used a little bit of seasoning. Nonetheless, it was still pretty tasty.
The fish and shrimp bowl could have came with bigger slices of lime, the bowls were really lacking that citrus acidity to them.
My husband tried the Philly Taco, Fried Chicken Team Favorite Taco (loved the queso, bacon, & pico), and the BBQ Brisket Taco. Enjoyed all of them. Pretty filling tacos. Definitely not your average street taco.
Chips and queso - We got a regular order and the queso size was really small compared to the amount of chips that are given in an order. Not sure we'd order these again.
The tomatillo (mild) and rojo (medium) salsas were fire. Definitely try them, neither were very spicy.
Overall, food was pretty decent and fairly priced for what you get. Next time I'd like to try their margaritas and all-day breakfast tacos.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 10, 2024Updated review
My mom and I went to this place for lunch. It was not our first time coming here, but since it's opening, the quality has gone downhill significantly. We both had fajita bowls. I had the steak, she had the chicken. The seasoning was, quite frankly, rather pedestrian. They have a self service hot sauce bar which has three hot sauces, and a bucket of limes. The refrigerator was stocked with the tomatillo (mild) salsa and the red salsa (medium). There was no habanero salsa (the hot). I went to the staff and asked for some. I was told that they hadn't made any yet. There was no zip in their step, no, "I'm sorry, we'll get some right out." Nothing. The bucket of limes in the refrigerator was empty and dirty. Nonplussed. The rice in the bowl was crispy, meaning undercooked. No one seemed to care. I guess if the employees don't care, then they don't deserve my business. It will be a long time before I return.
Granted, this is a mostly fast food place, so my expectations are not on the highest order, but please, put some sort of pride in your work. Even though they only had three tables (of two each), the booths were dirty.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 14, 2022Previous reviewIt is a taco place that straddles between a fast food place and a classic American Mexican restaurant. The staff were quite friendly and competent. I ordered the steak nachos. They were very well done. They had cheese and pico de gallo on each layer. The steak was nice and tender, well cooked and seasoned. I tried the habanero salsa. It was perfect. I find habanero peppers to be only slightly hotter than jalapeños, but not too terribly much. The difference is the the habanero has a natural smoky taste. The street tacos looked really good as well. I only got a glance at one, but it looked like it had queso fresco sprinkled on top. For me, it is not a destination, but a place that if we happen to be passing by, I'll stop and eat there again. I'd do it tomorrow, but tomorrow, my travels take me in another direction. Go ahead and give it a go. Don't let the name throw you off like it did for me for several months. Who wants a rusty taco? I do. Give me three, and a margarita if I am not on lunch or driving. Edit: I took half of my nachos home. The steak was not cut all the way through, so it was just one large chunk of meat. I assumed nachos, no silverware required. Big frowns. 3.5 stars.
