This will be our fourth Wine pairing dinner, this one sponsored by Duckhorn Vineyards. My vote so far that this event has been the best one attended. If you are a foodie, want to celebrate and event, or just want to have fun, relax and enjoy a special meal in a small venue, maybe even meet some new friends which we did, this would be it.
Dusckhorn vineyards ran this event, throughout the dinner, giving a short history of each wine paired with each dishes. the 5 wonderful dishes were Hawaiian Kampachi, Lobster Dim Sum, Kurobuta Pork Kakuni, Shoyu Charred Ribeye and a Mille Feuille for desert. Every dish was presented beautifully and tasted superb with a wine (except for the desert).
Atmosphere: Roy's decor, but in a private room. Service: excellent, Food: excellentHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Apr 1, 2023
Came here for a private birthday party. We were in a private room and had a limited menu of appetizers. But everything they brought out tasted amazing. The cocktails were for sure on point. I'm glad I wasn't driving that night because I enjoyed. Few of them! Super tasty.
Service was on point. We had the best staff bringing us food and drinks quickly.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 7, 2021
Our first time at Roy's and we were surprised by the food, ambiance, and service. Enjoyed our evening.
Had a reservation for birthday dinner, we arrived late so the hostess asked to us to grab a table at the bar and get started with the drinks. She later called us to get seated at the dining area. Saved time standing and waiting because we got to enjoy our cocktails!! Great service right there.
We had the appetizer platter followed by the ahi spicy roll and the classic four as the main course, the food was good. From the platter, the rolls, lobster gyoza, and ribs were so so good. The classic four was decent in portion to share. The tuna just melted in our mouths. Rest all the three sea items tasted good.
Our server took really good care of us. He explained the menu patiently.! The ambiance and decor are intimate. Overall we enjoyed our evening.
Oh yes, the Hawaiian Martini is a must try!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Roy's never disappoints. From the butterfish to the filet, even the salads, all fabulous.
The most recent visit was Christmas Eve and they were super busy so service was a tad slow but the waiter apologized a couple of times. We didn't mind because we wanted to enjoy our meal and not be rushed. Miss the PHX locations.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 19, 2022Updated review
Unfortunately this location like all of Roy's locations are permanently closed as of June 2022

Another mixed feelings location. The menu is fun and enticing.... loads of options. Beer menu is Konami, witch is OK. Pricing is high, even at happy hour. Service was amazing! Top notch! The food was good but not mind blowing. The ribs were the best. Mahi was good but low on flavor. Pineapple cake was great. Overall a great stop

Second attempt coming here and I am glad I gave it another shot!
Our reservation was at six and we arrived around 6:10pm. However, when we checked in they sat us down right away. We were seated at a booth table located towards the back, right next to the kitchen with a view of the whole restaurant--I loved it!. I brought one of my amazing best friends Jennifer as my guest. We ordered the following:
DRINKS:
*Mango Mojito - The perfect balance of sweet & refreshing
*Tiki P.O.G. Punch - This was such a tropical drink, super YUMMY and has become one of my favorites!
TO START:
*Lobster potstickers - The perfect crisp and tenderness. However, the butter miso sauce makes it a worthy starter.
*Crispy Wok Fried Shrimp Tempura - A mix of sweet, salty and savory. Very light but yummy!
(We thought these starters alone would leave no room for our entrees but surprisingly although we ate it all it our they were light but flavor-FULL.
ENTRE:
*Grilled Filet Mignon - The meat was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. It was tender, flavorful and savory. The potatoes were killer! Very rich and soulful. (Jen's words)
*Roasted Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi - I was concerned about ordering a fish for dinner as many times I don't get full but this definitely was a MEATY fish. The crust and the lobster cream sauce are what made this plate a solid 4.5 starts for me. I don't give it a 5 because it comes with big round slices of potatoes and I'm not the biggest fan of potatoes but overall very yummy and filling and worth the try!
DESSERT:
*Chocolate Soufflé - We did not finish it because we were STUFFED but it was the cherry on top to our dinner. Very chocolatey and decadent. The ice-cream balanced it all out.
Total: $167.00
Overall, we were treated like queens. The Manager came to check in on us about 2 times throughout our time there just to see if we were happy with service and food taste. He also made sure to say goodbye to us when we were heading out. Roy's Restaurant made out Girls nigh out dinner memorable!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Visiting from out of town and stopped in to see an old favorite. I used to live in Orlando and frequented that location. The service was fantastic and the food was outstanding. I had the lobster bisque and halibut. Great presentation and flavor. The bisque could have been a little warmer.

My aunt and uncle have raved about this place for so long I had to try it. They are on the pricy side of the scale. I've always enjoyed the ambience of an upscale restaurant but sometimes the food isn't quite worth the costs, which I felt here. Don't get me wrong the food was okay but not worth what was paid. I think you more so are paying for the food and building to be pretty rather than taste and portions. The service wasn't quite as good as expected either. I kind of felt like we were an afterthought but it could have just been our server.
All in all, I would give it another shot and I'd say it's at least worth you trying once.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 16, 2020Updated review
Yet another fantastic Wine Pairing Dinner put on by Roy's. This time featuring Prisoner Wines. If You've never participated in one of these tastings you should. Well worth the money set in a small venue, family seating so you can meet other people... food and wine are great!
Prisoner Wines served with each course. We started off with a Chilled Lump Crab Cocktail. Then onto an Olive Oil Poached Loch Etive Steelhead Trout, Seared Duck Breast, Pistachio Filet Mignon and ending with a Chinese Five Spiced Pumpkin Creme Brulee. Simply amazing!
Food and service for the wine pairing dinners fantastic!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Nov 10, 2019Previous reviewAnother wonderful Wine Dinner at Roys celebrating Duckhorn Vineyards. I would highly recommend these dinners, not only is the wines feature excellent but the food is specially created to fit the wines. I also like, that some tastings don't provide, is a Menu. One might think these dinners are pricey, but for a 5 course meal with 4 glasses of wine it's well worth the pricetag. Always a relatively small group of people seated family style allows you to also meet new people if you desire.
There were 4 different wine pours from Duckhorn Vinyards throughout the 4 course meal: Decoy Rose, Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc, Duckhorn Merlot and a Paraduxx Proprietary Red. Food consist of: Jumbo Prawns, Georges Bank Sea Scallop, Herb Grilled Hawaiian Shutome, USDA Prime NY Strip Loin and a Dessert of Macadamia Nut Toffee Crunch Cake.
Everything from service to food was excellent!Jul 1, 2019Previous reviewI received the "Global Tasting Menu Korean Inspired" email and had to try, made Opentable Saturday, 7:15 p.m.reservations for 2. When we arrived, the place was packed. We were seated in the booths which I prefer much better than the tables. Timothy was our server, we have had him before, very pleasant.
The Global Menu was a choice of Appetizer, Entree and Dessert for $44... smoking deal! Since my friend also wanted to try the menu, we ordered both appetizers Wagyu Beef Mandu (dumplings) and Crispy Calamari Salad. Entrees we both ordered the 48 Hour Galbi Boneless Beef Short Rib and for dessert we had the Famous Roy's Chocolate souffle. All the dishes were very good, love it!May 18, 2019Previous reviewAnother wonderful Roy's wine dinner featuring Justine Wines. 4 courses plus dessert, so much fun... and unlike other restaurant that are doing wine dinners Roy's creates new dishes not using existing menu dishes as I have seen.
Dinner featured: Kona Kampachi Tartare, Lobsters & Peas, Maple Leaf Duo of Duck, Filet Mignon and a Raspberry Mochi Crusted Vanilla Cheesecake. The first 4 courses were paired with fantastic, maybe one of the best winery choices we've had so far doing these wine dinners.
The Tartare, Duck and Mochi Cheesecake were very good, the lobster was heavenly. I was disappointed in the Filet (very very small and was very salty). As I said before the Justin Wine selection was excellent though the pours could of been more to our dismay especially when the cost of this dinner was the priciest we've been to.
If you love food and wine pairing you would love these wine dinners.Feb 25, 2019Previous reviewMy friend and I came here for dinner last weekend to take advantage of the sweet deal email I received: $25 off of $50 spent. The food and service is always consistent. What stood out this visit was the "Global Tasting Menu Creative Japan" that my friend ordered. Excellent!
3 dishes (appetizer, entree, dessert) for $39. My friend chose the Hamachi Sashimi, Togarashi Spiced Seared Salmon, Roy's Hot Chocolate Cake. I ordered the Lobster Bisque, "The Chef's Creation" Ahi Poke and the Szechuan Spiced Pork Ribs. The tasting menu was excellent! The Salmon Seared perfectly, not overcooked. All the rest of the dishes were very good as usual.
Atmosphere: very nice casual, Service: very good, Food: very good (hint the Global Japan Tasting Menu: exceptional)Aug 27, 2018Previous reviewThis will be our fourth Wine pairing dinner, this one sponsored by Duckhorn Vineyards. Service: excellent, Food: excellentAug 1, 2018Previous reviewMy friend and I have only been to Roy's for their last two Tasting Dinner Parties which were fantastic! This is the first time we have dined in the main restaurant. I had made Sunday dinner reservations for a party of 3 at 7:00 p.m. I was pleased to see how busy it was on an off night. Eric was our server took very good care of us.
We started off with cocktails, the 1988 and Pacific Cooler while we perused the menu. For appetizers we ordered the Crispy Togarashi Calamari, Ahi Tuna Poke, and Lobster Bisque. Entrees were: Classic Four (Hibachi Grilled Atlantic Salmon - Misoyaki "Butterfish" Blackened Island Ahi - Roasted Macadamia Nut Mahi Mahi) and the Pistachio Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb.
Just to note: My friend was settled on the Hibachi Grilled Atlantic Salmon, but was told after we ordered that there was no Salmon that day, that included the Salmon on our Classic 4. I would like to suggest to the restaurant mangers, that maybe when the customer is seated and handed a menu, up front your service staff should say "we apologize that we do not have salmon on the menu tonight." In stead of customers having to go back re-look at the menu especially when you specialize in seafood.
Other than that the drinks were delish. The appetizers were good. The Lobster Bisque was excellent. The main entrees were very good. I shared the Classic 4 with my friend and it was perfect. Nice to get a tasting of all the seafood.
Atmosphere: nice, Service: very good, Food: very goodJul 3, 2018Previous reviewSo Once Again Roy's Special Event Sake Dinner did not fail to impress. After receiving the email invite and reviewing the menu, my dining partner and I jumped on this one. Loving Sake and Food.
Surprisingly when we arrived, we noticed that there wasn't a lot of participants this time around, 12 people in all. The Sake's chosen were outstanding and the dished like the Soba Noodles, Hamachi, Wagyu Tri Tip, and Lobster Quinoa were excellent. You can look at the photo of the pairing menu I posted.
Service at these events is top rated too!
Again keep in mind this was a Roy's hosted event with Roy's serving staff and the chef to make these special dishes for this occasion.
Private room, service and food 5 STAR! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a special meal and to have a special dining experience.Mar 16, 2018Previous reviewMy dining partner and I honestly hadn't been back to Roy's (Chandler) since our 1 visit in 2014. We received an email invitation from Roy's that Caymus Winery was hosting a Wine Dinner with limited seating. The menu preview sounded fantastic, so we jumped on it.
Apparently Caymus Wineries hosts this Wine Dinner every year. It started off with a Mix & Mingle introducing their Champagne and an introduction to their wines and a short video of the history of the winery. Then followed the 5 course dinner paired each with a different wines. We started with the Dungeness Crab then the Sea Scallop & Foie Gras, followed by an Alaskan Black Cod and a Wagyu Beef Short Rib, finally to end with a Baked Alaska. All the while sipping on their selections of Caymus Blended White, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. All the dishes and wine pairings were absolutely spectacular!
Again keep in mind this was a Roy's hosted event with Caymus Wines and a representative along with Roys serving staff and chef to make these special dishes for this occasion.
Private room, service and food 5 STAR! I would recommend this to anyone next year when Caymus Wineries comes back.Sep 14, 2014Previous reviewOur family of 4 dined at Roy's on a Saturday evening for dinner. We walked in, were greeted and sat promptly at our reservation time. We were happy that we were seated in one of the off shoot rooms from the front area, much much less noisy. Waters were poured, server had introduced herself, complementary edamame were placed down and drink orders were taken. We ordered a Cosmo and a Martini on the rocks with extra olives. The Martini, came forgot the olives and there was a lime wedge with the Martini, wrong, sent it back and was redone and all was well.
We started off with appetizers of Tuna Poke and a Signature Roll, both very good. For entrees we had: Braised Short Ribs of Beef, Seared Sea Scallops, Blackened Island Ahi, and Tempura California White Sea Bass.
All were perfectly cooked and very good. I can't say anything bad, but for the prices, Roy's still had that "Chain Restaurant" aura about it. Can't put my finger on it, maybe the decor, the amount of tables, the scent or the lighting? I think its a great fine dining family restaurant. Would I come here for a romantic evening, maybe not. Service and Food very good. - Kim W.Gilbert, AZ1657470Mar 6, 2021
If you want Asiob fusion this is your spot. We ordered 2 starters, the calamari and the lobster potsticker. The calamari was dried to perfection however, it lacked seasoning. The dipping sauce was a little spicy. It was ok, but I wouldn't order it again. The lobster potsticker on the other hand was amazing. Cooked perfectly and simply delicious. The sauce was light and the perfect accompaniment to the potsticker.
Thirsty? Order that Hawaiian Martini if you like a sweet SMOOTH drink that is perfectly
Crafted. This is one of the best Martini's I've had. It's not too strong or overly sweet it was a well balanced amount of everything.
As an entree we both ordered the Chilean Seabass. Now I've had Seabass quite a few places but this is by far the best Seabass I've ever had. It's served over a bed if spinach, potatoes and mini tomatoes with a butter miso sauce that will make you want to pick the whole plate up and lick it clean
You can't go out and not eat dessert! I ordered the pineapple Upside down cake. Mostly cause you rarely see that on a menu and I like to order stuff I don't make at home and can't find on most restaurants menus. It was well worth it. The cake had diced pineapple and the crust was the perfect combination of fluffy and crusty. The coconut ice cream was light and went perfectly with the cake. I would definitely recommend this dessert. Just know you have to order it early cause they cook them to order. I love a dessert that I know is being made just for me. Don't you?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
