Was in LA last weekend and finally decided to see what the hype was about with Roscoe's. My friends and I came early on a Sunday morning, so there wasn't a wait. However, it took a long time before the waitress tended to our table and we were really hungry so it kind of annoyed us. But anyways, we all ordered the Obama Special which came with a waffle and 3 fried chicken wings. The waffle tasted great! It was probably one of the best waffles I've ever had. It was very fluffy and flavorful. The chicken was delicious as well. Very crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. I also tried the Eclipse beverage which was a mixture of orange juice, fruit punch, and lemonade and it was soooo good! Overall, this restaurant is pretty decent. Other than the slow service, everything was great. Staff was friendly as well. Next time I'm in LA, I'll make sure to stop by again.
This location was very disappointing. Went there this morning, our food took over 30+ minutes to come out. We placed our order less than a minute after the table next to us. But by the time they were done eating our food came out. When we asked our server what was going on his excuse was "we're really backed up." No apology. The food can out 10 minutes later which we assumed that our order never went through... I asked for ranch he says "it's going to take me a minute I have to go to the back to get it" I told him not a problem I will wait. I see him walking around talking to other employees doing everything but grabbing the ranch. When he comes back after 5 minutes to ask "how is everything" I ask him about the ranch his response "oh yeah..." no apology again. Management needs to step up their customer service.
I thought being that I was 13 and now 35 that me and my boss would go eat chicken and waffles and this boof was gross....... I had to along with my boss return two drumsticks twice because the meat was pink and cold. The manager did replace it with a piece of our choice but used the excuse of it being dark meat and that's why its pink like tf you mean what does it being cold and pink have to do with white meat/ dark meat.... I could of spent 8.99 for an 8pc bucket and get whole sides enough to serve 5 people for 20 bucks so if i were you and not want salmonella then go to Pasadena location instead
First food stop every time I come to Cali. Roscos chicken is always amazing and fresh. Always great service and amazing staff from everyone. The waffles are always amazing and once that butter soaks in its more amazing. Parking is not bad, there is always a lot of street parking available.
I'm not a HUGE fan of waffles (I like pancakes more) but the chicken and waffles at Roscoe's is pretty good! I had a simple dish, a thigh and waffle, but the fried chicken was great and the waffle was a good pairing with it. While the waffles weren't anything special they were still yummy and a nice sweet counter to the savoury fried chicken. Service is a bit on the slower side especially when they're busy, and it can get HOT as there is no AC. Still a pretty good place to go!
Pretty dope fried chicken spot! Interior: Lots of space but trying to hit this place up on a post drinking outting it stills gets a bit packed. Food: All the meals here are dope and getting the fried chicken with some kind of side like Mac and Cheese and biscuits are a must. Overall: Great spot for some greasy fried chicken feels
If you're good with not fancy and getting your hands dirty this is perfect. Everything was fresh and the waffles don't taste like the frozen or continental batter mix kind hotels serve. Add to that that everything was really affordable and then the vegetarian of our group enjoyed the non meat food.
I am SO SO late to the Roscoe's game LOL You guys who follow me know that I just love the feeling of checking off a place that I've had bookmarked for a long time. I'm not even sure how many years Roscoe's has been on my bookmarks but it was about DAMN TIME I visited haha! I've heard about Roscoe's for ages. I'm originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and there we have Home of Chicken and Waffles in Oakland which I've been to plenty of times (the old Walnut Creek location), I think they claimed they were somehow affiliated with Roscoe's? Not sure if that's true. Well anyway that's the closest I ever had to anything like Roscoe's before my visit. Roscoe's is iconic for the LA area, celebrities like Snoop Dogg love this place haha. Even Obama has visited before (Pico location)! I literally dragged my sister and cousin here a few weekends ago during our mini day trip to LA. We were already full before coming here since we had just eaten at Pink's Hot Dogs. We put our name down for a table and there were 15 groups ahead of us. The guy working there said it would be about a 45 min-1 hour wait. I like how you can track your place in line from the yelp app! Super cool feature. Surprisingly after only 15 minutes I got a text that our table was ready. When we went to the host stand, I guess they accidentally pressed our group name pre-maturely so it technically wasn't our turn yet but they were nice enough to honor seating us early. I actually really liked the ambiance inside the restaurant it has an old school 70s feel to it. I got an order of 1 chicken thigh and a waffle with a side of mac & cheese and my cousin got the Obama special which comes with 3 pieces of chicken and a waffle. The chicken was honestly just okay, I did like the thinness of the waffle. It reminded me a lot of a bigger version of an Eggo waffle LOL. I prefer it a lot better compared to thicker Belgian waffles. The mac & cheese was alright, I've had better but it wasn't bad for a small side. I'm super happy that I can finally say that I've had Roscoe's! You probably don't need my review to tell you to make this part of your itinerary if you're visiting LA but just do it! haha
Fried chicken and omelette (minus the cheese) are pretty good. Grits, maybe because that's what it is, was awful. Biscuits and gravy and waffle were meh. 20 minute wait on a Saturday afternoon. I have never seen so much security at a restaurant before. Street parking. Good thing about this location is it's near Metro station Hollywood and Vine.
This was my second time coming to this location while visiting LA again, and this place never disappoints. I always get the Obama Special and it comes out perfect everytime. The staff here is super friendly and I just love how fresh and hot the food is! I always come before of after the lunch rush so its a perfect time to eat.
It's been a while since I've gone to Roscoes and I must say it tastes way better than I remember. I had chicken and waffles with a chicken breast and it was delicious. The wait was 30 minutes but not too bad. Our server was attentive and friendly and I even ordered Mac and cheese. I'll need to update my review later because I haven't tried it yet. I'd definitely be back the next time I'm in LA which is often.
I've been busting Roscoes for years and not once have I've been dissatisfied. On this occasion I visited with my Brother who was visiting from out of town and wanted to true LA experience. We arrived a little after 11pm, and waited for about 10-15 mins for a table for two..which is standard waiting time for any establishment. For the people who complain about the time you have to realize the amount of people this place serves on a daily basis..it's a tourist attraction as well...Our waiter was prompt and attentive zero issues there came back multiple times to make sure we were ok. Now on to the food...I had the breast with two additional wings...perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned..juicy, fresh and Still hot when the plate arrived not as if they had it in the back sitting (cooked to order) The waffle with the warm syrup and soft butter just melts in your mouth lol you want to eat it slow to enjoy every piece of it. After not following my own advice I destroyed it in less then 2 minutes I wanted to order another...if you're on a diet stay far away if you love good food and want to go to a place where other often imitate..this is where you go this is where Chicken and waffle was started/perfected...you'll thank me later.
Came to this place with a friend, because it's famous! Being a big chicken and waffle connoisseur, this was a must try. But I feel like it fell pretty short. Chicken and waffles isn't really a novelty item anymore, so there are a lot of places that do it better, I think. The waffle was really thin, but super tasty and I like thin waffles. The chicken was really the main source of disappointment. Too oily and yet the meat was kind of dry; wasn't especially tasty either. I ended up putting a lot of hot sauce on the chicken, or syrup (a pretty dope combo, just for future reference). There's usually a pretty long line as well, so if you want to give it a try for the experience (it is famous..) then I'd try and go on a weekday at an off time, so as to avoid the wait.
If you're in Los Angeles and in the mood for some finger lickin' fried chicken, stop by Roscoe's. My husband and I decided to have a Saturday brunch at Roscoe's but were a little apprehensive due to previous reviews mentioning ridiculously long wait times. But that wasn't our experience and it may be in large part because we arrived right before they started to get busy (at around 11:15). We put our name on the list, took some photos in front of the restaurant and about 20 minutes later we were seated at our table. I ordered the Carol C. and my husband got the Sir Michael. Our food cane out about 15 minutes after we ordered. The Carol C. came with a waffle, which wasn't all that great, but the chicken was amazing! It was hot, crispy and flavorful.
Shame on me for taking THIS long to try out Roscoe's! The original is on Long Beach, but the Hollywood location is too close to pass up. Although it was in the heart of Hollywood, I didn't have much trouble finding parking. In fact, one of the employees actually helped a bunch, letting us know that our initial spot will be a tow-zone in 30 minutes. She didn't have to tell us that, and I'm grateful that she did! Ideally try to get there during off peak hours though to save yourself the headache of finding parking. Overall the food was great and I enjoyed my experience. The food came out quick and I love that they have their own custom chicken batter. Because of my sweet tooth I have to say the waffles were my favorite part, but everything was great. If you live in LA you really have to give them a shot.
I got a hot chocolate, and chicken breast and one waffle and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese and the waffle were good. I didn't expect the waffle to be savory, but that made it much better! The chicken was a bit drier than I expected, and that was a bit of a disappointment. To be fair, maybe I should have gotten darker meat. The prices were ok, it was a good amount of food to be full. Parkin was free so that's definitely a plus and there was no line at 10am on Sunday. I'd come back with friends, and perhaps edit my review with a different cut of chicken.
This was my first time going to Roscoe's. I knew it because it was in the movie Rush Hour and Black Dynamite, a long a few rap songs. I definitely had to make the trip to see what all the hype was about. Like many things that are overhyped it didn't live up to my expectations. I was late, so my friends were already seated. It took them about 45 mins to get seated. Inside the restaurant their isn't much to look at, I ordered the Obama Special. The waffle was great for a thin waffle but the meat, while plentiful, just wasn't seasoned well. I'm glad I went, but not sure I would go for the wait times. Prices were reasonable.
How can one not LOVE this combo! The crispy savory swirled with the syrup and waffle making your mouth water and completely turn upside down with each bite! I cannot begin to tell you the joy my senses feel when here enjoying my meal of complete satisfaction and heavenly delight! Thank You for showing me NIRVANA!
They live up to their reputation. Chicken was spiced just right and cooked to perfection. The waffles were fluffy and tasty with a hint of vanilla. A delicious meal. I wish they were in New York
Free parking! Unlike several places in LA. Price is fair! Food quality is great! The menu was simple. It is definitely a place to visit when in LA. I ordered the chicken breast and waffle (I think the order was #13). IT WAS AMAZING! I honestly love the syrup they provided with the waffle. I am used to consuming really sweet syrup, but there was something perfect about the syrup here. It consisted of the perfect amount of sweetness and I actually for once in my life ... really enjoy the waffle with syrup at Roscoe's. The chicken breast was delicious! Truthfully, I highly recommend ordering chicken breast and waffle instead of thighs or wings. It seems like a small portion, but you will get full of it. I would return to Roscoe's whenever I am back in LA.
