5/21/2016I had my Tag Heuer Chrono watch repaired (refinishing and polishing of band to remove buffs, minor dings and scratches) by Ron Gordon, and upon receiving my watch, i'm so impressed with the work. My watch looks brand new. Relatively fast service too. I'll bring more watches to this guy for maintenance.

8/8/2020My husband mailed a watch to Ron Gordon requesting an estimate of repair charges. The estimate was $780. It also appeared as though the watch was never even opened for examination/estimating purposes.
After the watch was returned my husband took it to a local watch repair shop who repaired the watch in less than 10 minutes at no cost! The watch is now working fine.

12/1/2019I brought in a vintage ladies Hamilton watch that was given to my Grandmother on my Grandfather's 25th anniversary with the company he was working for, and it's engraved on the back so it's very sentimental. Unfortunately it was in a dreadful state, missing the band, crystal, and hands, and it was definitely not working. I wasn't even sure if it was possible to fix, but Ron said he could do it. When I picked it up I was thrilled, Ron did such a beautiful job! (See the 'before' and 'after' photo.) It wasn't cheap, but given the extent of the damage and the sentimental value it was well worth it. I also got great service when I brought the watch back in recently for a couple tweaks. Highly recommended!

1/9/2020Updated reviewThis guy is top notch and his core competency is fixing high quality old watches. I found Ron and his assistant to be helpful, knowledgeable and straightforward. I took in a 1950s Rolex that other shops could not fix and he fixed it. The watch belong to my grandfather and when my dad got it in the 1980s he spent $150 trying to fix it, but it never worked properly. I took it to Ron and now it works very well. My dad said it was the second best Christmas gift he ever received. The first was a train set he received when he was ten.
12/9/2019Previous reviewThis guy is top notch and his core competency is fixing high quality old watches. The negative reviews on customer service miss the point. It's not a TGIF's or a Chili's. I found Ron and his assistant to be helpful, knowledgeable and straightforward. I took in a 1950s Rolex that other shops could not fix and he fixed it.

7/1/2020Took my vintage Omega to the shop for a battery replacement right before the lock-down began. Service and communication were both quick and tremendously professional. I've used several other watchmakers in NYC and this was definitely the most pleasant experience I've had. As I did not feel comfortable to come into the city to pick up my watch, Ron's team accommodated me by arranging insured shipment of the watch to me. Would highly recommend and will be returning for future timepiece needs.

11/19/2019I brought a vintage Rolex datejust to Ron Gordon Watch Repair for servicing because I had noticed more resistance and a "sticky" feeling when winding the watch manually. The watch could still be set, wound, would power automatically and kept time.
Ron inspected my watch, but I declined to have the servicing done. When I picked the watch up, it did not work at all. It can't be set, won't wind, and doesn't run. When I called, Ron and his assistant told me that the watch wasn't running when I brought it in. This is completely false. Ron wound the watch when I dropped it off so that he could see what I meant when I described the "stickiness." Ron provided me with a ticket when I dropped off the watch, which states my description of the problem: "Watch difficult to wind".
When I called to ask about how this could have happened, Ron told me that he discovered that the "automatic wheel" was broken in half. This damage does not appear on the estimate Ron sent to me for servicing. It also must have happened after I dropped the watch off, because I had been wearing it for several days before bringing it in, and it was running and the automatic winding function was operational. Ron's assistant yelled at me on the phone (I asked her to stop yelling so we could discuss) and ultimately hung up on me.
I do not know if Ron damaged the watch in an attempt to upsell me on unnecessary repairs, or if he accidentally damaged the watch while inspecting it, but based on the damage to the watch and the completely dishonest and unprofessional way they responded to my inquiry, I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. - 45622864
4/23/2015First to ReviewDropped off my Movado after I foolishly cracked the crystal face on it. They told me it would take 2 weeks or so for the replacement materials to arrive and for them to fix it. That was on a Monday. By Thursday morning, they called and told me to come pick it up.
Not only was the service super fast, the watch looked brand new when I picked it up. Stellar service. Will be back. - David H.Roslyn Heights, NY2389
4/25/2018Repaired my Oris three years ago(perfect). The spring bar can loose and he fixed it for me on the spot.

8/30/2017Customer service is really poor. The receptionist/office manager was rude on the phone and never emailed when my watch was ready. Also their hours are really inconvenient if you don't live/work in the area.

9/1/2015Highly recommended!
I clumsily bumped my watch against a metal door frame and managed to put a noticeable, deep scratch next to crystal. I went to a couple of watchmakers to get it removed, but nobody wanted to work on it due to the complexity of the polishing process involved. I was told to send my watch back to the manufacturer for an expensive overhaul....
Ron, on the other hand, managed to carefully and quickly get it out without damaging the crystal or over polishing the case. Watch looks like new again. He's clearly a master of his craft...will see him again for any future servicing work.
